    You guys should do a bracket-based tournament to determine which string is best! Seed the favorites, and see which string wins out based on certain criteria (maybe like durability, tension maintenance, spin potential, arm comfort, control, etc.).

    I've played extensively with both. Cyclone is nice the first 3-4 hours but then the tension drops massively, making it difficult to control. Hyper G has better tension maintenance, but is sometimes a bit inconsistent, with the ball shooting off at a high angle unexpectedly. My string of choice is Head Lynx Tour (black), which is basically a more consistent version of Hyper G.

    I've never played with Cyclone but have been using Hyper-G for 2 years. I had ALU Power since about 2009 before that. If money and stringing were no object, I'd use ALU Power. But it's a 20 minute drive to my stringer and that means 80 minutes to drop off and pick up racquets. I get about three times the playtime with Hyper-G over ALU-Power. Hyper-G is easy on my arms, great spin, cheap, great control. From the comments in this video, I think that I'd be fine with both strings as far as playability but durability is killer with Hyper-G. I string it at 55 pounds and it plays like a board for about two hours and then drops to around 51-52 after that which is where I like it and then it holds tension for a long time. I typically get 25-30 hours out of Hyper-G. Troy's comments speak to what I love about Hyper-G.
    The format of four players, two + two, is great as it's easy to keep the main string factors in mind.

    I’m using Hyper G as my mains and Cyclone as crosses at 50 and 47 lbs respectively. Plays well for control and power.

    It's $130 vs $170 per reel for me. I'll restring more often with Cyclone.

      Your racquet will probably not like that.
      Depending on which one it is, the frame starts to suffer after 20 to 30 string jobs.
      So I would rather look for the best long term playability, except If you break strings all the time.

      wow does it cost that ex in the USA?
      dang, it's a $50 for cyclone reel for me here and about $110 for hyper G reel in asia

    I have played with both and settled with Hyper-G mainly because of longer playability. Also, Hyper-G doesn't go dead as suddenly as Cyclone.

    Hehe, when I was still playing poly/poly hybrids, my go-to string was always Cyclone Tour 18. I prefer strings more lively with pocketing. I never did get used to the stiffness of Hyper-G, though I didn't try lowering the tension a lot with it. Nowadays, I use a gut/poly hybrid, Luxilon Natural Gut 16L with a slippery poly cross like Toroline Wasabi or ReString Zero, though if I want a bit more power I use Luxilon ALU Power. To me, I just can't give up the pocketing and feel of a natural gut. I also love the longevity of gut since I'm not a string breaker and it basically never loses its elasticity.

    dead on.. I think I serve better with Hyper G and playability lasts longer. I feel like I have to cut out the Cyclone and when I do the string doesn't move but it also gets pretty hard to control, but like Troy said off the stringer Cyclone is pretty great. Cyclone blk is the best one, red is great but diminishes quickly although in 18x20 frames like a strike or blade it works pretty well.

    How does Solinco Revolution compare to Hyper G? Debating whether to try.

  • @thefridgeman
    @thefridgeman 3 місяці тому

    Tried them both while searching for "the" string to put into my Ezone DR98.
    Cyclone plays and feels like a Luxilon Element, Hyper-G more like Poly Tour Pro. Couldn't "gel" with either. One is too "soft", the other one tries to be something, but it's only 70-80% anywhere near what would be ideal. I put Alupower in the Ezone and now use PolyTourRev in a 97D.

    What about Solinco Confidential in comparison to Hyper G and Cyclone?

  • @futureguy
    @futureguy 3 місяці тому +1

    Cyclone is a better fit for my game than Hyper G. I am a counter puncher and I feel the sharp edges of Hyper G tend to grab the ball a little bit too much during defense. Also Cyclone does have better feel than Hyper G. But I do recommend Hyper G to a lot of my friends since Hyper G is one of the most all-around poly on the market.

    How about Hyper G Soft vs Cyclone Tour? They tend to be softer than Hyper G and Cyclone.

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  21 день тому

      Based on my experiences with those strings, I would say there is somewhat of a similar trend between the two. Cyclone Tour feels a bit more powerful (higher energy return), whereas Hyper-G Soft feels like it has a bit more control and seems to hold up a bit better in terms of tension maintenance. Troy, TW

    hey guys, could you please help me? I am looking for a string most similar to polyfibre hightec premium 1.30. Because it was my favorite string, but I cant find it to buy in my country 😢.. I love that clack clack that it has

    • @tenniswarehouse

      Polyfibre made some very soft feeling polys. So I would recommend considering strings like Yonex Poly Tour Air, ISOSPEED Cream, and Volkl V-Star. Troy, TW

    I have played both and students habe played both. Like the comments. One thing to say is hyperG is too sharp, and Cyclone is gear shaped and not as sharp and can be strung in hybred with gut. This as a cost savings over Wilson Champions Choice

    Troy looking fit buddy! Quick question-did you ever weight up the vcore 98 sand beige to tour specs, and was playability comparable?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 місяці тому +2

      Thanks! I did weight up the VCORE 98 Sand Beige, not an exact match to our VCORE 98 Tour test racquet but pretty close. I definitely noticed a more solid stable feel on volleys, and the added plow through was a big benefit on groundstrokes, especially the slice. In stock form, because the VCORE 98 is so spin friendly and high launch angle, I felt like my groundstrokes were sitting up a bit much and lacking some penetration through the court. So I feel like that improved somewhat with the increased swingweight (currently 330 swingweight with 1.25 RPM Blast and a TW dampener). Troy, TW

      I've used Prince ProBlend Duraflex and love it! And previously in the 90s used kevlar when I was breaking tons of strings and before poly was really a thing. Which explains a lot about my taste in strings and stiff racquets!

      @gab_ale 3 місяці тому

      @@tenniswarehouse I'm just trying to find something as controlled and predictable as Kevlar, but with a little more power and maybe spin potential. I have used both Hyper-G and Lynx Tour, and I prefer Lynx Tour. I always felt that Hyper-G is too unpredictable at times.
      I have an Ezone 98 with Poly Tour Pro @ 55lb and I really like how it feels. But I only like that string on that racquet. My main racquets right now are the PS97 v14, and the TF40 18x20 and the PTP does not feel good at all on those for some reason.

    There are NUMEROUS other good strings out there apart from these 2.
    How easily people get influenced by what they see because someone says "this is great..." and buys into a particular string and find they can't move away from it because they have now gotten too used to it.

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 місяці тому +1

      Definitely, but these two have been very popular over the years. And for the most part very good value strings, compared to some of the Luxilon or Babolat polys. Troy, TW
