Recipe
Fjellbekk (Mountain Stream)
1 1/2oz (45ml) Aquavit
3/4oz (22ml) Lemon Juice
Top Lemon Lime Soda
Lime Wedge Garnish
Love the recipe in Norwegian at the end!
Yeah, but they messed up with the sitronsaft. That's neither lime or lemon, but directly translated as lemon cordial. Marius should know this 😂
Gratulerer med dagen, alle nordmenn utenfor Norge🇧🇻! Thank you so much for this vid, nice gesture. Totally going to make it❤
Digging the akvavit these days! Been making this one a lot lately...
The Nordic Number
- 1-3/4 oz akvavit
- 1/4 oz Amontillado sherry
- 1 barspoon lemon verbena syrup
Stir with ice/strain/coupe
- Garnish: star anise
Cheers!
Finally I'm the first on one of Leandro's videos. And to top that its close to a drink I've known years before even starting bartending.
Will definitely try this!
Just got around to trying this. Mountain Stream is a good name for this. It's incredibly easy and refreshing and delicious.
Thanks for the reminder to get some Akvavit!
I just went to Himkok in April. So good.
Just wait till you visit Herkok. That place is wild
Try our invention "Hamar mule". Same recipe, but with julebrus! Delicious.
That looks delicious. I'll definitely going to try this as soon as possible. It's no nice to see Marius's cousin make the drink. Just like I suspected Leandro didn't have everything prepaired. (That was sarcasm)
Gotta love Leandro NOT INTRODUCING THE GUY AND GIVING US HIS NAME. Dude....what is wrong with you.
It's Tobias, sorry, we were just goofing around the studio that day and this vidoe happened so we totally forgot
Just looked at Total Wine site for my area, they have some other brand. That brand in the video, good luck in finding it.
So weird hearing fjellbekk being translated at the start there haha, i am a bartender from norway, i have made 1000s of these and yet i still needed to think for a sec what it was when the name was said in english haha
Hi Leandro,
I am visiting LA this summer and I was wondering if it’s possible to visit Trader Sam’s Tiki Room without having tickets to the Disney park.
Also, is it worth the trip if I’m staying downtown?
Yes you don’t need tickets to the park Trader Sam’s is outside the park at the bottom of the Disneyland Hotel
@@TheEducatedBarfly thanks!
Hate aquavit, love fjellbekk 🤣 Greetings from Larvik, a town close to Marius home town (If i remember correctly)😎
akvaviiiiiiiiiit 👌
One queastion Leandro... where was your video on World Cocktail day!! Maybe you don't get drunk on Monday's?
that's a sacred holiday so we took the day off! ;)
@@TheEducatedBarfly Good response, hope you had a cockail or three!!
NORGE
Weird production. Almost like you had your tasting notes ready just to be pretentious.
Guy behind the camera is always very annoying
Himkok and Tobias for the win!
Living in Europe in the 90s it seemed every country or region had a drink like this. In Germany mainly Bavaria there was the Kirschgeiss. Kirsch Liqueur, Dunkle Weizen, and Coca Cola. Served in a liter beer stein. Made for rough mornings.
Goasmaß
Damn, the fact that Marius' cousin worked at Himkok is so fitting (I think I've drank through the whole menu there lol, I love the place)
My favourite akevitt to use is usually Gammel Oppland, it got a super strong flavour which I love! Designed several aquavit cocktails myself with it, which I'm pretty happy with :D (hope to get them on the menu where I work some day)
I've always made the Fjellbekk wiith equal parts Vodka and akeviitt. so it would be 15ml vodka 15ml akevitt 20 ml limejuice (to taste) and top off with 7up. never seen it on a drinks menu tho
Such a delicious drink, worth learning to make one to try.
I can't be the only one sensing the sexual tension in this episode.
Heia Norge
This is a lot like the Danish cocktail "Flyversjus" from the 1930's: Akvavit and lemon soda (No added lime juice)
I've worked and drank at several bars in Norway and I have never ever seen this drink on the menu. Gonna ask for it the next time I go out
Definitely not common anymore at least, although that depends on where you drink as well. Most heidis beer bars have it from what i can tell has it, and any bar that does cocktails should be able to make it. (Common ingredients)
Hello good people of The Educated Barfly. I have a video series request. Can you do some videos that highlight drinks to make when you're trying to use up certain citrus? For instance, a video where you do a handful of drinks (5?) that all use grapefruit. Preferably in high volumes (trying to use up a whole grapefruit's juice in 0.5oz increments is awful) AND use the fruit as a garnish as well. Obviously a Paloma would be great here, but what are four other awesome grapefruit drinks?
I think you get the point. Could easily do a video for each citrus fruit. Would be REALLY REALLY USEFUL to us home barflies!
