Any Zhong Li fans that want to understand the Chinese script at 2:10 . I try my best to translate here. It's very ancient and poetics. And beautiful. 此世群魔诸神并起,我虽无意逐鹿,却知苍生苦楚。Translation: Waves of demons and gods appearing during this time, although I have no intention to chase the deer, but I know the world is suffering and sad. (The phrase "chase the deer" most probably means joining the fights and hunting down the demons) 天动万象,When I shaken the heaven, everything trembles. 👌
“Chase a deer” is an old allusion,in this sentence it’s mean ”I'm not interested in being an emperor, but I can't bear to see civilians suffer” But I have to say your translation is very nice .Thank you.
The replies said it soo I'm not gonna say anything more but yeah, if you really want to capture the original vision of all the people working behind these characters, you gotta invest in the CN aspect.
It's crazy how different the characterizations are between localizations/dubs, especially between EN and CN. Zhongli is so tough, resolute, strict, forceful, and just in EN. He's so assertive, he COMMANDS everything to follow whatever he wills. While in CN, he sounds a lot, lot more melancholic. It's like time and wisdom had made him soft while still having those ferocious eyes. He isn't assertive because he doesn't need to, because he knows for sure already that when he wills it, everything else will follow.
The CN voicing really fits the traditional Daoist immortal archetype, because immortals are supposed to be sages and wise men who either lives in heaven or somewhere in mountains (the character for immortals, or 仙, is literally a combination of man/人, and mountain/山). Personally I think because the concept of immortals may be hard to understand for people unfamiliar with Chinese culture, they chose to focus on how he's a god, hence the more authoritative tone in other languages.

@@xiaoqingwei1821 eh, probably not happening. I mean they would need to open a new channel for these videos, which is a bit much. But I agree, I do want to see it happen.
It’s always nice seeing people _not_ ignore its Chinese origin. I know mihoyo wants to appeal to anime fans and hence markets mostly just the English and Japanese versions, but the Chinese VAs deserve attention too for their hard work. :/
Fun fact: though "万象”(wanxiang)means “everything under heaven” here, it actually has another meaning which is rarely used. It is the Chinese name (mainland) of Vientiane, capital city of Laos.
As in "万象” would be the word for Laos' capital city, just like how we'd call it "Vientiane" in English? I'm just a little curious to see if was just a word that's used for Laos' capital or if it was related to the Hmong/Miao people who are often in the mountains of Laos.
I really love the fact that CN Zhongli pretty much speaks in allusion. ”群魔诸神并起“用”无意逐鹿“应承,一下子就有几千年前乱世纷争、群雄并起的大地之中,一神持长枪 掀涛而起,荡平四野,不为尊位为苍生那种气势,一品真的很妙。But I will say the English translation did a good job on "I will have order". It's a distinct interpretation of Zhongli's immortality and godhood from an English-speaking culture. I usually feel sorry for the loss of translation that happens between CN and EN, but "I will have order" does hit differently and is equally good. The fierceness in the tone along with that scene gives me goosebumps.
The Chinese suits with the music the best, plus the aesthetic is kind of lost in other languages, when he said 天动万象 he sounded so calm, that was super badass, but the "I will take order" in English version really got me hyped af
CN dub just hits differently. He doesn't need to shout in order to sound commanding. It's just that, you can hear from his voice that he's commanding yet doesn't lose the class and elegance to it. It's perfect.
Actually the CN it's extremely good, you hear more easily the personalities of everyone, for example Bennet, he's extremely active and super fast while he's talking, and also disappointed sometimes when he talk about a his bad luck. Lisa kinda looses that ~sexy~ tone, and changes it for a more demanding yet still calm tone.
@@rabiesmutt I agree with you. But for Bennett, gotta say not one of my favorites but they VA did a great job indeed, just wish it was a bit more deeper like the JP dub. But Zhongli has the most perfect and accurate voice. I really like Diluc and Kaeya's voices as well!
Idk what it is, but as much as I absolutely love the JPN seiyuu for Zhongli, I feel like the CHN VA had the best one. It's very calm, almost poetic - like Zhongli truly knows that when he wills something into existence, or commands the sky, it will happen. I think someone else said it as well, but in just that single line it also as if he acknowledged his enemies with a deep respect, but the calmness in his delivery contributes to the fact that he forsees that they have already fought and died admirably.
@@arickim298 The reason why I put the modifying phrase "in universe" is because the word "만물" in Korean generally covers the entire world(like a huge world over Solar system)as well as the earth.

Zhongli : I WILL HAVE ORDER !! Traveler : But, you didn't bring your wallet and mora right? Also Zhongli : ehmm... My dear Traveler, _you know the rules, and so do I_
Honestly Genshin is one of those rare games where I actually prefer the english VA over others. The others aren't bad, its just that the english VAs are good for once and I prefer understanding what the characters are saying.
@@Dynamight_01 True. Though unless you understand chinese/japanese, the english translation will always be a little different, whether it be the dub or the sub xD
There's something very special about listening to CN Zhongli if you understand the language. Not just his calm yet unwavering tone that suits his personality perfectly, but the way he puts his words together is like a poet. That's a feeling that I think is impossible to perfectly translate across different languages.
English is very specific with the forcefulness, he doesnt sound angry, yet it carries enough authority thats expected in combat, I still think its the best 😆
The obsession with the Japanese language now puts me off; mostly because donghua has gotten bigger recently, and a lot of anime fans keep commenting how they can only watch things in Japanese and how Japanese is always superior and how other languages are always trash etc etc. As someone who prefers the original languages of what I watch, I feel like other languages deserve more respect too, so it’s always nice seeing other languages do well and get the praise they deserve. Also when dubs do well it’s always nice. :P
Yeah I swear, the anime community really has become plagued Sub elitest fans, and it's gotten especially bad over the last decade, and I don't see what the big deal is, EN dubs almost always sound just as good as JP voices, sometimes they can even be better, and there's a lot of extremely talented EN voice actors/actresses, and at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you watch Subs or Dubs, we're all fans of the same shows, same characters, same story, but it's only natural that people would want to watch a show in their native tongue, that's human nature, likewise there's nothing wrong with liking to watch shows with the original voices, but to practically go to war with each other is rediculous, especially since EN dubs are meant to be more accessible as to reach out to as many people as possible, some people are just unable to read and watch what's going on the same time, human eyes don't start off with that kind of ability, and a lot of people are slow readers and can't keep up with subtitles, so to discriminate against such a huge part of the community for having these extremely human faults that everyone starts out with is asinine, the Subs vs Dubs war is the most toxic thing to ever happen to the anime community, and unfortunately it's most likely to never disappear
Damn how i wish i could listen to this every morning so i can discipline myself lol .. Hearing zhongli say i will have order or tendou banshou and tiendou wanshou .. Ijust realized CN AND JP almost have same .. Iwill have order
As a man who grew up in multi-cultural nation(Malaysia), it feels kinda awkward to see all kind of translation comment all over the comment section. And since the Chinese word's meaning differ vastly with its context/sentence/word combination, it feels even much more awkward to see all the words get breaks down individually and got their meaning added together like 1+1 when it actually became a whole different meaning.
A bit late but as a speaker of these 4 languages, listening to Zhongli in ALL OF THEM is amazing!!! I liken them to a man who is scaling up a mountain. JP Zhongli is at the base. Youthful, exuberant, full of energy. A tiger hungry for the challenge. KR Zhongli is at the middle point. He has experienced some of the trials the mountain has to offer. He is more relaxed, and has the subtle confidence that he will reach the top. A lion that has matured. EN Zhongli has scaled the top of the mountain. And asserts himself as the one who commands all those below. He has become the unassailable Dragon. CN Zhongli... The dragon has now grown wise. He need not command those below it, he simply wills it. For he is now both the mountain itself, and the sky that the mountain touches. An Immortal.
Zhongli is one of the few male characters that I will play. He knows how to use a spear well . And both his English and Japanese VAs actually portray him VERY well.
Zhongli speaks in ancient Chinese verse. Most phrases he says are exactly 6 characters, even with rhyms. Such as "wo sui wu yi zhu lu, que zhi cang sheng ku chu". That makes a lot differences.
In a class room Ningguang: *thinking about selling her vision* Albedo: *Doing experiments ignoring his vision* Noelle: *going around trying to help her fellow students* Traveler: *Talking to Paimon about how to find their sibling* *Chaos in the classroom Teacher Zhongli: I WILL HAVE ORDER
The reason why Korean dub sounds funny and strange is because it is interpreted in Korean as "Cheondong Mansang," a Chinese word. It means "Everything is moving in the sky(=god) moves in all directions," which is translated into Korean.
For references, the phrase in all languages:
EN - I will have order

It’s always nice seeing people _not_ ignore its Chinese origin. I know mihoyo wants to appeal to anime fans and hence markets mostly just the English and Japanese versions, but the Chinese VAs deserve attention too for their hard work. :/

Watching it 4 times
I'd say the English and Chinese were my favourites, I love zhongli either way idc
I'm just a little curious to see if was just a word that's used for Laos' capital or if it was related to the Hmong/Miao people who are often in the mountains of Laos.
yea its true tho i'm not from china but i do know this kind of stuff
@@hammert-3105 象doesn't mean elephants in this context
我还是打中文吧,英语写作太烂了。我之前说的不准确(已删除),中国大陆用"万象"翻译Vientiane可能是借用越南的译法。历史上的南掌国(澜沧国)的南掌确实就是百万大象的意思,阮朝就意译为万象。上世纪五十年代人民日报报道老挝(寮国)多引用越通社的报道,万象就逐渐变成大陆官方名称了。

The fierceness in the tone along with that scene gives me goosebumps.
the Korean zhongli oh my god 😳
The Chinese suits with the music the best, plus the aesthetic is kind of lost in other languages, when he said 天动万象 he sounded so calm, that was super badass, but the "I will take order" in English version really got me hyped af

I think the Chinese VA nailed it. I just love the way he talks slowly it sounded badass while the meteor's falling in the background lol

The Chinese and Englisg voice actors for Zhongli are like if warm butter was a sound
zhongli's chinese dub is so true to his character.. its powerful yet wise and gentle even tho he is throwing a meteor at you
0:23 Here you go
That whole trailer was fire especially the theme music.
LOVE THE PART 2:30 !!!! Its soooooo good love CN version, AAAAAAAAA HIS VOICE ARE SO GOOOD
I come back to this video every single day lmao
Idk what it is, but as much as I absolutely love the JPN seiyuu for Zhongli, I feel like the CHN VA had the best one. It's very calm, almost poetic - like Zhongli truly knows that when he wills something into existence, or commands the sky, it will happen.
I think someone else said it as well, but in just that single line it also as if he acknowledged his enemies with a deep respect, but the calmness in his delivery contributes to the fact that he forsees that they have already fought and died admirably.
don't mind me, just placing my own timestamps because im in love with his trailer (and voice)
0:21 EN
1:03 JP
1:46 KR
2:28 CN
The KR voice speaks "하늘은 만물을 움직인다", which means "The God moves all things in universe".
It literally translates to "the sky moves all". But in this case, "the heavens rule all" or "the sky dictates all" would be more appropriate.
@@arickim298 In Korean, the word "하늘" is often used to call to "God" or "organizer" as an idiomatic expression.
@@arickim298 The reason why I put the modifying phrase "in universe" is because the word "만물" in Korean generally covers the entire world(like a huge world over Solar system)as well as the earth.
@@arickim298 Of course, in short and concise terms, your opinion is right, and the real meaning is what I said.

Literally cannot stop watching this. The Music is so on point. Best character trailer for me for sure.
See japan is not always everything sometimes english is good
Finally! Someone who could agree with me!
hardcore sub watcher... but I have to agree that the "I will have order" hit different
Yeah I swear, the anime community really has become plagued Sub elitest fans, and it's gotten especially bad over the last decade, and I don't see what the big deal is, EN dubs almost always sound just as good as JP voices, sometimes they can even be better, and there's a lot of extremely talented EN voice actors/actresses, and at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you watch Subs or Dubs, we're all fans of the same shows, same characters, same story, but it's only natural that people would want to watch a show in their native tongue, that's human nature, likewise there's nothing wrong with liking to watch shows with the original voices, but to practically go to war with each other is rediculous, especially since EN dubs are meant to be more accessible as to reach out to as many people as possible, some people are just unable to read and watch what's going on the same time, human eyes don't start off with that kind of ability, and a lot of people are slow readers and can't keep up with subtitles, so to discriminate against such a huge part of the community for having these extremely human faults that everyone starts out with is asinine, the Subs vs Dubs war is the most toxic thing to ever happen to the anime community, and unfortunately it's most likely to never disappear
yeah bro, sometimes...
Damn how i wish i could listen to this every morning so i can discipline myself lol .. Hearing zhongli say i will have order or tendou banshou and tiendou wanshou .. Ijust realized CN AND JP almost have same .. Iwill have order

Zhongli is the supreme judge we didn't know we needed.
"I will have order!"
@Foresight Plum there's a pretty comprehensive comment on this in the English character demo on youtube delving into the intricacies of the 天动万象 part
Ey you live in Malaysia too? Accurate I totally agree looks weird but it is helpful to know of you don’t understand

I have him and I just love listening to his voice especially in a really good headset. Its so deep its like asmr. Soothing.
DAMMIT THEYRE ALL SO HOT W THE GRAPHIcs and MUSIC IM LOSIJG MY MINDDDD
This makes me want to play the game in all languages, all the voices are so on spot.
Zhongli is one of the few male characters that I will play. He knows how to use a spear well . And both his English and Japanese VAs actually portray him VERY well.
Zhongli: I will have order!
Qiqi: Orders given, orders received.
His "I will have order" has so much swag in it
Zhongli speaks in ancient Chinese verse. Most phrases he says are exactly 6 characters, even with rhyms. Such as "wo sui wu yi zhu lu, que zhi cang sheng ku chu". That makes a lot differences.
Love Zhongli’s voices ! but love Chinese the most ✨💛

unpopular opinion, but zhongli sounds the best in the EN dub, fight me all u want, but i think Keith Silverstein was born to voice zhongli

The reason why Korean dub sounds funny and strange is because it is interpreted in Korean as "Cheondong Mansang," a Chinese word. It means "Everything is moving in the sky(=god) moves in all directions," which is translated into Korean.
