      I'm trying to start a gym for underprivileged adults because it's hard for adults and there's already a ton for underprivileged youths... I'm tired of hearing adults not being able to afford training in fighting ... it should be part of high school PE so nobody makes it to adulthood without at least the opportunity... but alas in my country that's just not very common. Your lucky if your school has a wrestling program. So in the U.S. most people make it to adulthood without any idea about any real technique... UFC is pretty mainstream now so we have boxing and MMA on TV so I guess people get a general idea of what some basic moves are, but that's basically all you get is some high school wrestling and some combat sport TV... and even that takes some cash... 'hey dad, I wanna wrestle for my school, will you sign this waver and can I get $38 for the uniform?' 'Sure son, I'll sign the waver, but I'm gonna need a clean car and mowed lawn for that 40 bucks.' ... ESPN+ app for PPV... it's nuts... so I want to start a gym where the members only pay a very small fee, then volunteer for dojo's other gyms, events, etc in trade for training time, they may even be able to work off some of the rent of the building. Not sure how to get started, it's still a new idea for me, but I'm gonna try so that maybe your son won't have to wait till he's 27, he can start training right out of high school.

    • @binaryglitch64
      @binaryglitch64 3 роки тому +4

      Surprisingly enough to me, this exact is used often in fighting sports, and I never understood what was meant by it. Using head to mean mind or focus is simple enough I would have got that part, but the knee meaning stance/footwork I wouldn't have guessed in a million years, and I would need to know that part to have sufficient context to get the head part. I've wondered about this for years and years yet it never occurred to me to just ask someone. So thanks a million for both the question and the answer.

      Some Kind Of Fighter This was genuinely helpful thanks! I'm debating taking up mma but it sounds like you need to be practicing/mastering 3/4 other martial arts too so probably too much time commitment for me. I want to take up a martial art for the exercise/discipline/confidence/irl self defence(?) but not sure what to go for. I'm a writer and illustrator so I need to avoid head and hand injuries at all costs. At the same time I am willing to push my boundaries and get stuck in though. Any thoughts on what martial art I should Pursue? I could probably only manage 2 training sessions a week (not sure how long they would be I'm guessing 2-3h is the average?) plus daily-ish? Practice at home. I have other commitments that will have to take priority and I need some free time. Sorry for the rambling just not sure where to begin, lots of opposing pieces of advice and general misinformation in the MA community it seems. I'd compete casually (if there is such a thing) if I ever got good enough. It would be great for whatever I took up to have some real life practicality, I don't plan on picking fights but to have the knowledge/training is a small comfort (as long as it's worth something and not impractical...)

      you should check this channel out dude ua-cam.com/channels/8X1oaFtxTGGAueI-sWE4Mg.html It's called Teach Me Grappling Coach Brian.
      It goes over ways to mix Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu. I mean, Judo isn't exactly jiu jitsu. But its descended from it. So there's probably still a lot of common ground there.
      You should start doing Judo, then make friends. And see if one of your Judo buddies is game to work some wrestling techniques.
      Some judo movies (double leg and firemans carry) are actually taken from wresting. So you might even find some common ground between Judo and wrestling too dude.

      @rachealhart1274 Рік тому

      Your feet are your foundation. So I think he puts more focus on it because the video is for beginners. When you're about to begin a journey you start on your feet. You start your very first spar on your feet. whether you can take advantage of being on the ground or on your feet is up to what your opponent does, who also starts the fight on his feet. No one goes around rolling on the ground to get to the person they wanna fight no they're walking to them on their feet. If you start something you aren't planting your feet into, you won't finish it.
