Started BJJ at 34. MMA at 36. 37 now, best I've ever been and always improving. Hard journey, humbling being smashed by younger guys, but the way I see it, quitting will never be an option.
Hey man I’m 36 and itching to join an mma gym. Do you think our bodies could handle fighting competitively? If I’m in better shape then most 20 yr olds I still worry that 1 fight would put me in a wheelchair lol. Ex: MCL ACL tears, bulging disks, worn joints. I’m wondering if not having ever been beat up means I could handle a 5 - 7 yr career.
@@deciplescorner3228 Sure, I'd say anyone under 50 can compete with anyone from any age as long as the skill and cardio levels match up. By when you're over 50, maybe consider only matching up against people who are around your age. Of course if you're at the very top, then you can't match your cardio up with a 20 year old as a 50 year old. But if you're fighting amateurs or low-level pros, then a 50 year old can still have as good conditioning as the 20 year old. Unfortunately it is probably too late to have a pro career that actually paid your bills. Though you can have a few pro fights if you work really hard and want to have them after you a bunch of amateur fights.
I started at 67. I don’t care what anyone says or thinks. I’m still athletic and 6’3” and 215-220. Of course I’m slower and and less flexible. Who cares what anyone thinks. If you want to do it. Do it. I’m getting in even better shape. I’m doing it for me. I love it. I go to the gym 4 days a week. And train 2 days a week for 3 hours.
I am 60 this year and i train MMA...Bag/Pads/Light Sparring,Cardio,Weights...started at 47 years old .and got in the best shape ever ..took last three years off. as i was starting to feel i was too old ...got heavy and slow last three years ..hate the feeling..s.started back up this week ..going later today for third session this week...i Love it ...im the eldest by far...but i want to be a better version of myself as i head into my 60's...want to lose 30lbs and i know this will do it along with weights and Diet.
Inspirational! Keep at it and you'll see results. Just make sure the training load is reasonable, and not too much. Otherwise you will start feeling lousy and not want to go to training anymore. Not to mention the risk of injuries.
Im considering it at 50, I dont have any crazy aspirations other than getting better. Thats the nice thing about starting a sport when you are older. You dont have your young self to compare results too.
I'm considering it at 61. Train weights 7 days a week, eat wrong so got a bit of a belly. Short - 5'5. Did kickboxing for a few years in my 30s. What are the oldest cage fighters I wonder - NO, I'd never do that!🤣
"but i want to be a better version of myself as i head into my 60's" ... by prematurely training yourself into an early grave ... how exactly does that make you "a better version of yourself"
Thank you coach. I am just turned 27 and trained for a year. In 6 months, i dominated my first amatuer match, and in one year had the tko in the first 30 seconds . But i stay humble and train harder because i know there are people who have been training since they were in their teens. I needed this video especially seeing your elder student dominating. So inspiriring! It makes me excited years down the road. It’s never too late to train! Never mind the outcome. Just enjoy the process.
Everything the coach says is true. I begun trainning MMA almost a year ago. I have never been in such a good shape in my life. I've gain a lot of strength, muscles and something that I never really had, cardio. It's been a blast so far and I'm even considering having a fight this summer. I don't intend to be a fighter, but I would like to test myself in a real fight and perform under true stress. I'm soon turning 25, by the way.

26, finally taking training seriously. Minor experience, always used my busy life as an excuse. Feeling old to be relatively new, found this video.. thank you. Best version of myself sounds like a win to me. 🤙🏻
Agreed. Go in trying to be the best version of yourself. Realistically, most of us won't be UFC ready competitors. I started at 38, 2 years ago and it got me into the best shape of my life. Mentally as well when it came to problem solving and with increased confidence in general. Pick a good environment and good dedicated trainers, train with a great open attitude and you'll be alright. I needed to hear this message.
Who cares about being in shape. There's nothing impressive about it. You think you can win a fight though? Getting into great shape is really nothing impressive to me as I had a long history of weightlifting. Being in great shape is really such a pointless endeavor.
32 never had any experience but im trying to get into it, i believe i can still be one of the greatest fighters in the world. My dream will come true you will know my name within the next 2 years in your household. thanks for the videos they were very informative
Sometimes, you are your biggest enemy. So i really consider you to change how you think about your goals. I mean, if you worry about "everyone is going to know my name," maybe you will become frustrated very fast... Better label it as "i will know who i am." It's a small change, but it really can make a big difference. However, i hope you continue and learn many new skills 💪
Just added MMA to my training and I am 50. Not trying to be a UFC fighter, but I am not ruling out stepping in the cage. But you are correct the training is rewarding enough
In my first year i was going all out every session, and yeah i was shocked at the shape i was in in such a short period. These days however i find it's best to go at a steady pace, in due time you'll overtake the people taking themselves too seriously and racking up injuries. Oh and don't roll your ankle, it'll never fully heal haha.
I've trained several martial arts, wrestling. I am also a box and Krav maga instructor . But I am 44. The MMA gyms here focus only in younger guys who want to compete. It is hard to find a teacher who just teaches and do not want to focus in competitors only.
It is true that MMA attract mostly younger guys, but there are clubs that have beginner and intermediate groups where a person looking for recreational MMA can train. Privates are also a viable option. The coach of course has to take into consideration your age, injuries, fitness level and goals. And NOT train you like a competitor. My academy has always mostly catered to enthusiasts, but dome of them were of pro skill level (like the guy in the video that started at 39).
@@MMACoach79 Hey, I am from India and I am 17 year old boy ....... is that a good age for starting MMA training.......? I want to be a good fighter. (of course with my own best version)...? Plzz reply me Plzzzzzz...
I'm 22,5 now and I am training MMA for 2 Years now. I started with Wu Shu when I was 8 but it had little to do with actual full Contact fighting but it helped me in many ways even though I can't impliment it in my skillset completly so far (probably because I wasn't that accurate with it for 3 of those years). I had my first amateur MMA fight 9 Months ago and lost by TKO in the second round and 4 weeks prior to that my first grappling tournament (and first competition ever) in which i also lost both matches. I still train consistently 6 times a week and try to get a Job that allows me to train 2 times a day. My goal is to win a PFL tournament one day or at least have a solid MMA career that allows me to buy some real estate or make other smart investments to retire myself and my loved ones and build my own little Ranch with a little gym on it. My absolute idol is GSP cause he was smart, Kind and well rounded. Hopefully I will get to the top one day in one way or another.
I have the same approach and started some wrestling and K1 at 41. I did sport like gym or circuits before and that helps for sure. Many people keep trying to discourage me: why, what for etc. Just ignoring that BS and you know what - I won't be a champion or pro fighter but I will be happier, healthier and better. That's well enough.
Great to hear that. Let them try and discourage while you do what the vast majority of our age, or even much younger, cannot do in their wildest dreams. That should be rewarding enough.
This helped me out massively, I used to fight amateur Muay Thai from 16 to 22 years old. Went to the army and recently medically discharged, now back into Muay Thai and hopefully into MMA.
@@MMA-or4vu No biggie. Seems like your mentality is still where it needs to be. Train hard bro. You're young. You got your whole prime in front of you. Make something out of it 💪🏼 I'm 25, will be starting MMA soon when everything opens. Never did any sports at all, so it's gonna be tough 😬
Im very motivated after your video i fit every box you checked im 28 but have been perparing my mind for the ups and downs and im prepared to put in the work and i will never forget your words even if you dont make it to the glory and fame you still will be the best verison of yourself which is just what i need thank you and God Bless and you will be seeing my name again... you read it here first READY OR NOT HERE I COME..
38 just started mma and jujitsu. Wrestled when I was younger I climb trees for a living. Couple weeks into bjj detattched my bicep. Had surgery...gym was awsome their insurance paid for everything great guys. Back training again. Love it hope I never have to stop
I'm 24 and I started MMA recently. I'm doing it mainly for fitness and discipline(I've been a skinny fat nerd most of my life), but I am enjoying it immensely. It is the best decision I have ever made.
Are you me? haha i am also a skinny fat nerd, i have been considering starting after i finish school as a way to help me stay in shape since my job is no activity, thanks for the encouragement!
I’m 23 and always wanted to learn . What specifically do you train? I’m brand new and want to go to a place with people my age. And what can of place to you go to? I went to like a pop up karate place in town when I was little, but didn’t feel like it was serious training.
I think it depends on your class of fitness. For example I never truly been 'in shape ". So I probably,at 43, can't do MMA anymore. Someone who is still fit and active would be able to.
Hi thanks so much for this video. It has given me motivation & food for thoughts & goals. I am a 48 yr old woman I have been over weight & seriousley bed bound ill for 16yrs. I am getting better both physically & mentally I have a little way to go yet. I have had a burning desire to do MMA fighting competitions throughout the hole time I have been ill it has been a goal that's kept me going. I felt to ashamed & embarrassed to admit it out loud because I thought people would think I am a deluded granny. I just discoverd Ann Perez 67yr old amatuar MMA fighter & I thought, "'Right if that amazing lady can do it, why cant I?" Now I am determind to get well, loose weight & go for my goal. I know this video u shared was about men but as a woman who has survived the traumatic life I have had I am a fighter deep down. At the moment a very unfit sick fighter but hey I am determind to change. I would love to get a reply & some advise from u? Please?
I don't know your particular health situation, but where I would start first is getting better. Do all that is in your sphere of control to get healthier and avoid everything that prevents that. Once you get healthy enough, find an MMA gym and start either with privates or join a recreational/beginner's group. Make sure you tell the coach about your health challenges so he/she doesn't push you beyond your limits. Than just relax and enjoy the process of training. If you ever become good enough to compete and you still want to, discuss it with your coaches. While I don't think it's such a good idea, if that is what you really want, who can stop you? But know you might get hurt. I checked out Ann Perez because of your comment and she is amazing. Good thing she was not injured during the fight with a much younger and fitter opponent. I'd like to steer you away from competing (and besides, you have along way until you can even consider it) towards just training which is very rewarding in and of itself. But if that is what motivates you, hold on to it and work towards starting getting better and starting training.
Just turned 40, missing my martial arts club due to the lockdown. Got a mat out and practiced my rolls and breakfalls today and wished I'd trained more in class 😂
I’m in my 40’s. Have a background in Taekwondo and boxing. It’s a lot of fun training MMA but man the recovery is definitely harder in my 40’s, lol. In my 30’s, I was a great sparring partner for a couple middle weight prospects in my boxing gym. My mentality in my 40’s is to do the same for the MMA guys in our gym who are competing in matches. I get in killer shape, they get experience going against an old pit bull who still has enough to crack them, and it helps our gym. Iron sharpens iron as they say.
I'm 22 years old, I have a little background in karate, had 3 street fights, did beginners boxing course at my high school which wasn't great, it was very simple and capped off at being super simple. And that's it, that's my background in fighting, I know it's no where near impressive but that's my experience up until now. I always wanted be a boxer or a mixed martial artist but I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't start earlier. I genuinely am passionate, I got fire, and I know imp naturally strong, but I know that hard work beats gifted talent, and I don't know if I've missed the opportunity of me reaching my potential Seeing Khabib train from young, as well as Floyd, Mike Tyson, all these names of people who are amazing at what they do, is truly inspiring but I feel like I'm coming close to being 10 years late to making a start in training and competing. I can understand why they started young, our brains are at the prime of learning in our teenage years, so I feel like people like this will be a big threat to compete with Would it be a realistic goal to start and become someone who can compete at pro level? Because I'm seeing a lot of people say they started at 21, 22, 27 and when I see footage of them fight now, it doesn't look like they can compete with any of the pro fighters even though they have 5+ years of training. I'm the type of person who wants to reach their top potential when I do something because of the passion I have for it, but I want the harsh truth if that goal is even achievable More info about me 5' 8" height 67" reach 185 lbs
I don't know. Nobody does. But there are people that started late and made it. Like Francis Ngannou. But there are not a lot of them. Train for fun and fitness and see where that gets you. You will know in a few years.
Hi iam adi my age is 41 I start mma about 1 month ago...this is very good for me it’s hard and aggressive but I love it . I like you’re video 🙏 thank you.
My background was boxing and ji jitsu. Now since octobre in mma. I'm 30 years old but i look realy like a 24 / 25 years old guy. My goal is go to the UFC. I train now very very hard and wants to fight in locale promotion in Belgium for take some record , and will see about 2 years whats gone happen. I will chase my dreams and to listen too nobody.
The Golden Gloves(an amateur boxing tournament in America) has the perfect set up that I wish amateur MMA had for older guys. They have novice division- less then 10 fights Open- More then 10 fights Master- This division is for guys over 35. Not many ppl do it but basically it is for guys who are older and working. This way older guys can get a chance to compete. I really wish MMA had something like this. This would allow guys who were not only older but guys who work 40 + hours, guys with jobs and children, etc. to compete with someone on the same level. You can’t have someone who is 21 and just going to college w/ a lot of free time w/ intentions of becoming a pro fighter going against someone who is 37 working 50 plus hours a week in construction while taking care of family. Having fights with an older crowd gives guys the chance to try something they didn’t when they were younger. Just sucks that isn’t much of an option
Started BJJ at age 21. MMA at 25. Am I going to be the next Conor McGregor? Probably not. But I'll get as good as I can. Combat sports will change your life. Best decision I've ever made!
I am 29 tomorrow, decided to joj my first MMA traning ever today together with my gf. We want to get in shape but mostly want to improve our self-defense capabilities and gain some confidence. Me personally - I need to get humbled and I think hard training with guys way tougher than me will help me. I hope I will keep improving, Thanks for motivation video
I'm in my 30s now. Started Kendo and Iaido in late 20s. Now I've started basic boxing training and looking at Muay Thai. Zero desire to be some ranked pro MMA fighter. I just want to be stronger physically and mentally. To be broken down and rebuilt.
23 have dabbled here in there with jujitsu and krav maga, wrestled 7 years back in school, been thinking if I'm to old to start mma and try to go competitive
I'm 56 and going into Hybrid kickboxing. Was gonna do BJJ, but it's a pass for me . For street applications, I won't do most moves on asphalt or concreate . Shrimping hell no ! Double leg takedown. Nope, as well . I like skin on my knees . I'm doing it for dual purposes . Get in shape and for self-offense . Forget self-defense it's out the door, and it's really just a legal term . Blocking is self-defense. Once you hit someone back, now your offensive PERIOD ! And I will hit first if I know it's a fight . Just need to tighten up my body a bit and get better cardio. I like breaking 1-inch concrete patio blocks by palm striking and fist striking . It's just a hobby that I like doing .
I’ve been training in no-gi grappling very hard and as competitive as possible since 19. Did some absolute tournaments locally and placed silver in some large brackets. Sidelined for a total of 4-5 years cause of life and two knee surgeries. I’m 33 now and with a year of striking, and I am going to take a fight for the first time this year. Confident I’ll be fine. I spar with armatures my size and really dominate when in grappling exchanges, setting up takedowns with striking but more so w/ pressure. Start thinking you’re old for mma/BJJ when you’re in mid 40s, and even then, consistent training, sleeping, eating, and having something to prove to a healthy degree, you can be a mfer into your 50s. Don’t forget to lift too if you can somewhat.
I started at age 24 age 39 now not as good as I use to be cant take as much as I use to as far as hard training I've had a lot of wear and tear over the years I just had to learn to accept i cant do it all anymore
I’m a 22 year old football player who can’t get back into school to play football. Been Try’n for 2 years and now I have mad a decision to chase the UFC instead of the NFL. This new year is strictly train’n first 6 months jiu jitsu, next 6 strike’n
I am 51. When I was 19 or so, I did judo for several years and was pretty good at it, not the best, but I could take care of myself. 30years ago, there was no mma and when I watch these matches now, I wish I was 30 years younger, because I am interested in this, but my body can't do it anymore. Bad knees and a bad back (scoliose). One of the things when getting older is wishing I could do the things I could 30 years ago, but can't anymore and that is hard. Therefore, I am busy with weights, to keep the muscles into condition.
I totally understand and we do what we can with what we have. Fighting has taken it's toll on me too and I prefer to run and do calisthenics than fighting. My body likes that much more, but I still coach and spar somewhat. Some forms of fighting are much less taxing on the body than others. Judo and wrestling are terrible and falling down is where most of the injuries happen. Striking and groundfighting much less so. Especially striking if you don't go for knockouts. If your aim is to dominate or point fight, you can have a great time and it's not too taxing on the body. Your knee must be healthy of course and a reasonable partner is needed.
Kind of on the same boat. Except I had tons of mental issues in my 20s. If I grew up on knowing MMA existed I would have had a try at it at least. But terrible parents and all that shit never helped me get there. It's so frustrating. I could have had one last shot but the Pandemic ruined me.
Perspective. People that make it to the ufc and become stars/champions whatever, their age had nothing to do with it. Whether you start at 17 or 27. They are the EXCEPTION. Hands down. Get some gloves, go to a gym and enjoy the process. Just being in the training room and getting consistency will make you feel like a champion.
I am going to start SAMBO (have some boxing experience but I am not sure that would help a lot) in my 35. though not to join UFC and what not but to defend myself and the people I care for. So I think if that's the reason you want to get yourself into any kind of martial arts it's never too late! Thank you for so inspiring video!
Just image yourself 5 years from now if you train regularly. You will feel the benefits much sooner, but if you stick with it for several years your life will truly change.
I've trained boxing when I was 22. Now I'm 26, and I started to train in pencak silat. Hope I'll have enough opportunity to train in Brazilian jiu-jitsu or wrestling.
I really iked that you told the truth and didn't sugar coated it like those fake motivation guys who tell 35 year olds that they will become jon jones in 2 years. Anyway i am from india and i am 22 years old. I want to train but here in india there are no MMA facility near me. And i dont have money to go to a new country. What can i do
I thin you can train MMA and become a good fighter, learn some great self sense skills and help push the younger guys to compete. But if you want to become a GREAT fighter, a great grappler, a great striker etc. competition is a must. It just depends on how far you want to go
This is an amazing video - and I fully agree. You should train MMA to get good at the sport, to get in shape and because you LOVE it. Becoming a UFC fighter - sure if that is your dream then go for it - but in most cases - forget achievable - it isn't desirable. It really looks good on TV but life outcomes are not great for the majority of fighters. An injury prone, suboptimal old age, oftentimes coupled with financial insecurity is what awaits many fighters. Even those who make money - an that is the top of the pile. In your 40s and 50s - when you should be in the pink of health and at the peak of your powers MMA fighters are hobbled with pain, retired from what they know best and often not in the best state they can be in. Forget Conor McGregor money - that is a unicorn - not everybody has GSP, Jones or Silva money. Mike Bisping is someone whose done it all but this success came at huge physical cost - and his is one of the success stories. Train for health, train for passion - if you're good at it things will happen - but its ok, in fact even desirable if you don;t turn professional.
I'm 35 I look younger though lol good genes I guess but I've grew up in a rough area fighting to defend my self growing up usually bigger than me I feel with the proper training and trainier I can achieve greatness
Just something to be very wary of if you're gonna compete. When starting out you may be overmatched by some promoters, not all of them are honest. In your first fight, let's say you trained for 6months but they'll match you up with someone that's been around for years with a dozen fights, and ofcourse you'll only find out when it's too late.
I've always wanted to be a professional fighter since as long as I can remember. I grew up watching martial arts movies. In school, I fought back against bullies. When I was in 7th grade, Bruce Lee's story inspired me. I took some martial arts classes but neither my family or I had the money to support the training that I needed. I ended up taking my life in every direction except what I really wanted. I've had and won plenty of street fights. I know that street fights mean nothing compared to professional fights but those fights taught me a lot about myself. Later, I developed a love for entrepreneurship but that was always secondary to my love for fighting. At 38 years old I have a deep regret of not pursuing this dream. I still feel strong and healthy. Something tells me that my dream is still possible. As I write this comment, I wonder if this will be some comment that I will look back on with regret or maybe I will actually do what I believe I'm supposed to do. I'm glad that I came across this video. I really do appreciate this inspiring message. 🙏🏾
I'm glad you liked the video. You can still enjoy MMA and in a couple of years, you could be unrecognizable. Find the right coach and enjoy the process. I often regret not going down the entrepreneurial route, but it's never too late. Same goes for you. Maybe it's late for competing, but you will get so much enjoyment out of training and sparring that it doesn't matter.
Great words, I’m 18 and just picked up MMA classes and BJJ after quitting when I was younger, Now I’m as excited to continue training and to not have atleast dipped my feet in the fight game professionally. First fight this year 🙏
I’m 49 just started training in MMA and I love it , I’m loosing weight and it’s strengthening my knee’s which I had a operation on one and injunctions in the other from years of manual labor warehouse job’s. And I have to say the sex life is a whole lot better with my wife of 25years !😊😂😂😂😂

I'm turning 22 soon, have minor boxing, muay Thai experience, I did alot of bodybuilding and won a show. been MMA training a couple of months now, definitely a dream to one day turn Pro, for me it's mainly set backs like injuries you need to be smart about them, bodybuilding has definitely taken its toll on my joints I'm afraid, have hip popping and pain. struggling with flexibility and lower back hurts, still trying to fight it and train everyday
It's best that you see a doctor and maybe do an MRI of your lower back. Bodybuilding and MMA are non-compatible, so if you're still doing it, stop. Check this video out if you're interested in strength and conditioning for MMA: ua-cam.com/video/47vlgVOmrWk/v-deo.html
Im 23 training since then had now over 1 year break being dad , started from 19 first fight at b day 20 another fight a few months later .. and then they break now im training back again
Just wanna train and fight. I got too much aggression in me. Screw the pro fights. Plus they teach you grappling, striking and all kinds of other stuff. I was told you need 3 martial arts before you start mma but it's not true.
Dont hurt any worse to take a hit when u get older. It just hurts longer, way longer. Most of us go to work with soar backs & fractured fingers & toes in our 20's. In our 30's & 40's we are calling the hell out. It's just how it is. It's no longer such a great adventure to work through pain.
@@deciplescorner3228 if you fight in a white collar league. Match up with someone your age range. Have fun!
Rockstar, brother! Keep up the great work!

I love it. I go to the gym 4 days a week. And train 2 days a week for 3 hours.
Fantastic. It would be inspiring to see your training footage.
Good stuff. Just don't get hit in the head much unless you want to end up in a home. Brain repair is minimal at older ages.

What are the oldest cage fighters I wonder - NO, I'd never do that!🤣
good on you mate
"but i want to be a better version of myself as i head into my 60's" ... by prematurely training yourself into an early grave ... how exactly does that make you "a better version of yourself"
just started training Muay Thai at 38 and am absolutely loving it! Thanks for the encouragement!
Thank you and keep at it.
I’m 38 too. The aches and pains are a bitch but I love getting punched in the face. Keep it up dude 💪🏼
I love that mindset. Best of luck in the future competitions. You are still very young.
youre lezrning with an adult brain . they learned with a not fully grown brain . you have an advantage as long as you train more than them

If you feel like having an MMA fight - go for it. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying MMA.

26, finally taking training seriously. Minor experience, always used my busy life as an excuse. Feeling old to be relatively new, found this video.. thank you. Best version of myself sounds like a win to me. 🤙🏻
Take it slow and enjoy the ride. In a few years you will be unrecognizable.
Dude good luck. I always used the military as an excuse but I gonna go for it. Starting at 24. Keeping my expectations low but aiming high.
That's exactly it. It's great to hear that you've gotten so much out of MMA. Keep it up.
Who cares about being in shape. There's nothing impressive about it. You think you can win a fight though? Getting into great shape is really nothing impressive to me as I had a long history of weightlifting. Being in great shape is really such a pointless endeavor.
I’m 44 I have four months training MMA I feel great!!!!
I’m 26 & I want to start ASAP
Great to hear that. Enjoy the training.
49 , started about 1 year ago. Very true got in best shape ever in 6 mos , injured my foot a couple times which slowed me down but Im still going
Wow
6 months only nice

@@Mr.watashi Yeah for what purpose?
It's just cowards that are afraid of dying.
I come from a martial arts background ,started training mma at age 10 I’m now 35 and still training ,the journey has been awesome

I wonder that everyday I'm 38yrs young and I'm putting myself in position to train
Just make sure that you don't overdo it. Also, train with people you trust will not hurt you.
You still have many more years to train...
Hey, Nickolas, how are you doing with it? I'm 43 and I am looking at possibly getting into training. Go Cowboys!

That's great. Do whatever you can.
Well I'm 28 and I'm considering starting a career in MMA. So I don't think it's too late for me. Plus I have a martial art background.
That's a bit different, good luck
This is for older people
Was wondering To is this video only for guys with no prior martial arts exp and training ? O for us old martial barra vets as well ?
I genuinely am passionate, I got fire, and I know imp naturally strong, but I know that hard work beats gifted talent, and I don't know if I've missed the opportunity of me reaching my potential
Seeing Khabib train from young, as well as Floyd, Mike Tyson, all these names of people who are amazing at what they do, is truly inspiring but I feel like I'm coming close to being 10 years late to making a start in training and competing. I can understand why they started young, our brains are at the prime of learning in our teenage years, so I feel like people like this will be a big threat to compete with
Would it be a realistic goal to start and become someone who can compete at pro level?
Because I'm seeing a lot of people say they started at 21, 22, 27 and when I see footage of them fight now, it doesn't look like they can compete with any of the pro fighters even though they have 5+ years of training. I'm the type of person who wants to reach their top potential when I do something because of the passion I have for it, but I want the harsh truth if that goal is even achievable

I don't know. Nobody does. But there are people that started late and made it. Like Francis Ngannou. But there are not a lot of them.
Train for fun and fitness and see where that gets you. You will know in a few years.

Update?
I’m 19 years old and I been training for 8 months
Wanna go pro?
The Golden Gloves(an amateur boxing tournament in America) has the perfect set up that I wish amateur MMA had for older guys.
They have novice division- less then 10 fights
Open- More then 10 fights
Master- This division is for guys over 35.

Im 37 gonna start MMA day after tomorrow 💪
Gtta respect em in that intro truth hurts but if ur not here for the gold you're a average man looking for insight 💯

I would only consider taking mma for self defense & mental/ physical strength. I’m 49 years old. No desire to compete only if I started at a early age
I train Bjj and mma and I'm nearly 56 it's hard but just enjoy it!!
Great to hear that! Keep training.

Just image yourself 5 years from now if you train regularly. You will feel the benefits much sooner, but if you stick with it for several years your life will truly change.

Women's MMA wasn't a "thing" when I was a kid. . . I would of love to have started this at a young age.
Absolutely. Spot on.

First fight this year 🙏
I am 64 years old and have been training 11 months
I’m 49 just started training in MMA and I love it , I’m loosing weight and it’s strengthening my knee’s which I had a operation on one and injunctions in the other from years of manual labor warehouse job’s. And I have to say the sex life is a whole lot better with my wife of 25years !😊😂😂😂😂
Great to hear that. Everything is better when training. Even the food tastes better. :)
Hey! How does your knee feel after MMA training? I have osteoarthritis of the knee and I'm afraid that it will be an obstacle to training. :-(
@@Oscar-vr1lg well the MMA gym I’m at is taking me through a special regiment to strengthen my knees their very patient with me and yes it is some pain but good pain that’s working towards the better.

I got 40 this year..all my life I was dreaming for fighting Competition..but never been..and I thinking if is to late now😔
I'm 15 and i desire to go pro soon
Just wanna train and fight. I got too much aggression in me. Screw the pro fights. Plus they teach you grappling, striking and all kinds of other stuff. I was told you need 3 martial arts before you start mma but it's not true.
I am 45 wanting start train but I have anxiety about my age
Dont hurt any worse to take a hit when u get older. It just hurts longer, way longer.
Most of us go to work with soar backs & fractured fingers & toes in our 20's. In our 30's & 40's we are calling the hell out.
It's just how it is. It's no longer such a great adventure to work through pain.
