@@dkdanis1340 still not out of the reach of a decent home setup. That’s about as basic as fabrication gets and could be done pretty easily with an angle grinder, welder, cardboard to make templates etc. May not be as pretty but could certainly be done.
It’s not that I don’t doubt you but have you watched the project binky build from Bad Obsession Motorsport? If you love engineering and fab I urge you to watch it.
Your videos are gold. I learn something everytime. Love the detail of enforcing the bottom end of the strut to prevent failure at the single sided shearing. I can't wait for more horsepower.
Everyone's talking about the educational content, and I agree, but also want to point out that the faded purple/blue color with the satin gold finish on the rims is 👌
I had one of these when I was in high school. My mom’s old car. I wish I could go back and realize how cool it was. It wasn’t until years later that I learned about the Celica underpinnings.
Glad to see someone is doing something with a rav4. Personally I think the 90’s rav 4s have aged very well. That turbo motor is going to make it a sick little off road racer.
Anyone who builds an obscure vehicle into a potential racing machine got my subscription! Lets get insane with this machine. I hope it spirals out of control and gets independend long travel suspension custom made by you!
I love this man’s content. So many car channels do full builds or upgrade videos where they try and upgrade everything about a car in one or two video which is great but doesn’t have much value as a viewer other than entertainment. With the Papadakis videos you learn so much and appreciate the time and effort that goes into perfecting things like suspension. It seems silly but these kinds of video rekindle my love for cars
So glad this video exists, I learned quite a bit about suspension in this one! I went out and experienced local SCCA rallycross for the first time, even took my stock 07 Corolla out for a few laps and fell in love! I need to get an AWD car for a move north soon, and I've been eyeing up old first gen CR-Vs. My thought now is the initial plan of the RAV4 build: something reliable (in my case, a daily) that I can take rallycross racing on the weekends! From what I observed and experienced, it seems the best way to do this would be entering the prepped class with something that has a little more work put into survivability! With small rallycross courses, it seems suspension and control might be more of an advantage for a power-limited vehicle, so I've been trying to figure out the best way to set up more capable suspension from stock mounting points and without altering the body panels (per the rules and also not wanting to hack up a daily too much). Super fun video, definitely gave me a lot to think about! I'm glad there are experienced guys like you out there willing to play around with low-buck projects and share that knowledge with something anybody can obtain on a budget!
Seems like Stephan educated more than just me, such a fantastic visual explanation of suspension travel. Thank you Stephan for the great content love this little build 👍😃
Hi Stephan, not sure you’ll see this. I just want to say I am such a huge believer in your knowledge and know how. I remember when you switched from drag racing into drift I thought “yeah right, whatever he’s just hopping onto the next fad”. I just want to admit that I may have been a detractor or “hater” before but I am so glad you have this channel to share this practical and useful information. Keep up the awesome work sir!👍👍👍
Eeewww 😯 I like that universal strut kit! Also love how you took an econo SUV and pretty much made it a ralley machine 🤘🏼 the imagination is running wild now, HA
One of my favorite projects on UA-cam currently. I like the make what you have work idea. It makes for a unique builds instead of the cookie cutter (insert vehicle) builds.
Please posting more videos !!!!! 🙏 I’m sure that many people are waiting your videos, because they are super good and we learn a lot ! Even if we are not professional like you ! Greetings from Bulgaria 🇧🇬
I like that your first approach to more speed was handling parts like suspension and tires. Everyone wants to add more power immediately without having the base covered. People underestimate how much improvement can be made through handling parts.
love the build. you opened my eyes with those universal inverted shocks. I mean I knew some aftermarket bilsteins are inverted, but did not know there is this option building own ones. thanks!
Ever since I saw primedriven's 3sgte swapped rav4 ive wanted one. I love the visuals while explaining suspension. Really helped me truly understand what's going on
when that body style was out i thought it was hideous but now i actual like the idea of building one of these and can vision the outcome looking really dope
I’ve been a Toyota 4x4 guy for 20 years and a Toyota guy for longer than that and I never even considered the RAV4 for stuff like this. Also, the description of rebound and compression is some of the best I have seen in a car/truck video. My background in mountain biking has taught my a lot of this but never in such a succinct way.
When Papadakis post a videos you just sit down, watch and learn, even if it's about a little RAV4! 😎
even with portable sink that he posted couple months ago
You're absolutely right! Very few channels are like that IMO, and I barely even work on cars..!
YUP
Funny thing is , even though it's just a little RAV4 , it has more headroom than most full size pickups .
He's not messing around!
Stephan is a wealth of knowledge on anything with 4 wheels, he’s a walking encyclopedia.
He's THE Legend :)
I saw the 3SGTE on the stand and thought this will be the wildest suspension install I've ever seen!
You should watch project binky then
@@freditarenomm7987 Thanks, that looks fun!
That looks like it’s out of a caldina or celica

Ex Gen 1 owner, the 3SGTE was the ultimate upgrade that most owners really wanted. I want to buy my old car back badly
Man, I learned more about suspension tuning and such today than I have ever before! Thanks!
This is so much cooler to watch than all the super expensive pro builds out on the web.
Well this is pro build. Tell me how many people can fabricate mounts for shocks?
Indeed
@@dkdanis1340 well yes, but its not some sorta high zoot ground up buggy build, or even the trendy Tacoma...its an old Rav4!

The best combination of engineering and fabrication I've seen on UA-cam!

@@gtrjudd86 that's a fair point!
You’re the only one I can pay attention for almost 11 minutes talking about a RAV4
I love this RAV4 build. Part 3, please!
more pleasee

Where part 3!!!!!?
I'd love to work with someone like that to learn more, no bs straight to the point and knows it's thing
The sheer amount of knowledge shared per minute is something else

You have no idea how much i love this project. This exact model is my homies first and current car, and it's just such a fun little devil.
Great explainer about suspension theory. I love seeing a professional race team using their skills to build a fun regular car.

BRING BACK THE RAV 4 BUILD
Papadakis turboing a Baja rav 4 is what dreams are made of
YES! More Rav4 videos please!
I hope to see more of the rav4
I hope too
The Caldina engine at the end put a smile on my face. Can’t wait to see the progression of this build! #3Spower
This shows how much you can learn from a simple build. I always wanted to build a manual rav buggy with a 3gste.
Been in the business 30+ years and always learn something here, so awesome!
Please post more of the RAV4 build! I have learned so much about building it and would love to hear more about the build!

My first car was a 99 Rav4 so this build is hitting that nostalgia.
Lisa Kubo is calling. She wants you to come out and play. Nostalgia drag racing!!!!
This is fantastic, especially the little rav4! It looks like a rc car

Sweet !!! I'm so sad I sold my 1997 2 door Rav4 to my buddy, now I need to find another one , so much great information and learnings

The fact that you just put out such information dense videos that entertain as well is so appreciated. I love learning from these videos.
