  • The film is dedicated to hearing the voices of Our Pueblos, Tribes, Nations Elders, and their relationship to Mother Earth. To educate others on the values that are important to all of us in this world. How relations to each as a whole are important in building and holding strong partnerships in the protection of the Continental Divide Landscape. The film contains a strong message from the Indigenous people, “True Stewards of the Land ”, concerning their stolen lands and Western conservation efforts, and aims to help others better understand the values of Indigenous stewardship versus Western conservation views.
Film Production By UNM-TAOS “Film and Digital Media Arts” and the Continental Divide Trail Coalition
FDMA Director: Peter Walker, Editor: David Mapes
CDTC Staff: Teresa Martinez (Executive Director), Corey Torivio (NM Regional Representative)
Acoma Tribal Elders: Carl Pedro, Bonnie Leno, and Everett Garcia
Filming was conducted at multiple locations on Acoma Pueblo Lands, El Malpais Natl. Monument and the Cibola Natl. Forest.
Special Thanks: Acoma Pueblo, El Malpais Natl. Monument, Cibola National Forest, Sky City Casino/Hotel, UNM-TAOS Admin. Team, Wildflower Playhouse, NM Film Office, Red Camera and Canon U.S.A

Beautiful cinematography! I can't help but be reminded of Iron Eyes Cody from the seventies, and am astonished that anyone would still litter in this day and age. Maybe a well publicized clean up event would get the message out.

Thank you CDTC and the Acoma people for putting this together. Beautiful people with so much wisdom.
I'm currently thruhiking the CDT and this video brought me into tears of sadness and joy.
Sadness, because it's been indeed very heartbreaking to see all the trash along most forest roads. Thankfully, the trail itself has been mostly free of litter. Which is ironic. Because it's where vehicles have access, that there's trash. I carry my own trash on my back to be disposed in the trash can as I get to towns. But people with vehicles are throwing trash out their windows. :(
But this video also brought me joy! It reminded me of my encounter with two Acoma gentlemen on my way into Grants. Mr Andrew and Mr Kent. We had a lovely conversation. They shared some tea with me and gifted me a native neckless with two bears on it. They said the bears, or kuhaia (sp?), would protect me along my journey. It was such an honor and a blessing to have met them. I think of them often.
Sending my love to all Acoma people and everyone doing their part to respect and protect our Mother Nature.
    ~Mighty
