Thank you CDTC and the Acoma people for putting this together. Beautiful people with so much wisdom. I'm currently thruhiking the CDT and this video brought me into tears of sadness and joy. Sadness, because it's been indeed very heartbreaking to see all the trash along most forest roads. Thankfully, the trail itself has been mostly free of litter. Which is ironic. Because it's where vehicles have access, that there's trash. I carry my own trash on my back to be disposed in the trash can as I get to towns. But people with vehicles are throwing trash out their windows. :( But this video also brought me joy! It reminded me of my encounter with two Acoma gentlemen on my way into Grants. Mr Andrew and Mr Kent. We had a lovely conversation. They shared some tea with me and gifted me a native neckless with two bears on it. They said the bears, or kuhaia (sp?), would protect me along my journey. It was such an honor and a blessing to have met them. I think of them often. Sending my love to all Acoma people and everyone doing their part to respect and protect our Mother Nature. ~Mighty

I do have another question. I have a ticket for the shuttle to Crazy Cook on April 15. I understand that includes 5 water caches through the desert. Where is the water and how do I access it? I don't understand how that works. Many thanks. I can think of almost nothing else!!

The hardest thing for me on trail was needing to carry 4-5 L of H2O, along with 5 days of food eventually driving me off my through hike. If all I do is think about H2O drains any joy found in the trail.

Thank you all for your wonderfully dedicated service and friendly application to keep the trail communities and every hiker up to date with the CDT knowledge. I look forward to volunteering with some trail work in 2021. You all enjoy the journey and stay safe. :-)

I helped clean a piece of the CDT last year. I didn’t get a chance to check my section this year. I am concerned that my section is now in very bad shape. We had a huge windstorm that knocked down thousands of trees, both live and dead. The section is remote going into the Bridger wilderness. I know i as one person will not be able to clean this section if it is as bad as I believe it to be. What is it going to take to get a crew in to help fix this part of the trail? I did hike a piece of trail beside the CDT trail and it is all but impassible. This piece of the trail is in Wyoming.

Great message! I think that every Forest Service, Park Service, BLM, and FWS recreation planner out to see this. Several of these young men and women are the future of national scenic and national historic trails!
