Very nice job with the Ford Transit, however, the heating and a/c issues are still a concern for many drivers.I actually got to see these being built at Mr. McNeal's shop in Michigan. The previous versions (Rams) had 5000 btu window air conditioner units that you had to slide out of a custom box and ran off of the generator that needs refilled after 5-8 hours of run time...waking you up to refill the generator with fuel. The heat was sufficient ...using an Esbar unit. All of this didn't have a separate sleeper berth and you were heating or cooling the whole cargo area where you "lived".This is so much more advanced than when I started in 2007,and do not want to take away anything from Mr. McNeal. The boxes containing the generator and fuel are a big plus...no more headaches from carrying the hot generator and gas...I hope! Also, the bed in the cargo area was so high off of the ground that you had to hop up into it,and I rolled out of it one night and fell on the floor...and I'm not a big guy! But,whatever.Long runs,uncomfortable...sleep,Inconvenienced...micro-managed (at least here),40/60 split=no idling and asking for permission to go to walmart! All i see is a little truck, trying to be a big truck, with no DOT HOS rules causing more unsafe drivers.I based this off of years of experience with both cargo vans and straight trucks.NO CDL=Cargo Van...CDL A or B = options
Notes from a 26 year veteran expediter...Unit is not dock high. Not accessible by fork lift except for the first two skids. A system for accessing the remaining 4 skids could be chains or straps for dragging or use of a floor dolly.
There's a truck company that specializes in customizing bodies called Reading in Reading PA. They build utility bodies for pick up trucks that electricians, plumbers, etc use. If they saw this video or you provided them with pictures of this body, they could build it. I'm an expediter and I delivered to their plant in Reading.
Very interesting concept in place. I even love the look! In warmer weather, is the only cooling option (not the fan) the dash air conditioner? I didn't see it mentioned, and I presume the Honda generator was for the microwave or other 110V outlets.
At least 4000lb load capacity . REALLY???? Even without conversion it's just about that. Now , Transit has horrible overhang , can you imagine 2000lb weight behind rear axle ? That's a joke. For $78k . Stupidity
Most of the ones that are not Ford Transit's, do not have the 30K drive shaft coupling problem either. I do not trust the Ford Transit for expediting because of this. I don't care if Ford offered the van with a condo inside, I still wouldn't take it. I've seen to many expediters braking down in this van, and Ford still hasn't got the message. One of our drivers, @ 33K lost the couplings because of premature wear, and it ruined the transmission. Here is what a Ford said. The automaker said the affected vans have a faulty driveshaft flexible coupling. The defect could lead to the separation of the driveshaft, which could result in a loss of power, unintended vehicle movement and damage to brake and fuel lines. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the Transit issue.Jun 29, 2017
Ford issued a recall for that issue in 2017... Ford Transit Driveshaft CouplingRecall. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling all 2015-2017 Transitvehicles except 156″ and 178″ wheelbase Chassis Cab and Cut-Away bodies. In the affected vehicles, the flexible coupling connecting the transmission to the driveshaft may prematurely fail.Jul 17, 2017 Since this video shows a vehicle with a 178" wheelbase, I don't think your concern applies. However, Ford has been known to drop the ball before!
You're right, I drove some sprinter vans for an expedite company occasionally and at 6' I had to jack he seat all the way back just to feel like my nuts weren't jammed into my throat. And that's only when I had the rare 2 or less pallet freight...

Why is it, all expediting companies are based in Ohio?
They're not,a lot are based out of Michigan.Spin offs of Panther,Fedex Custom Critical...etc,that went on to establish their own LLC.
wow nice
Wow!
damn i want one
can i have one?!?!?
No leg room for driver...
It's for short drivers.
