The reason Frankie couldn’t reach the IT lady and had the strange cosmic event happen was because her actress WAS the IT lady in the previous season. It was that episode where Hicky and Annie tried to get that board up and played politics.
I got confused when she popped up in Season 5 because I only remembered her as Frankie 😅
@@LordVolkov I found it hilarious to see her as a totally different character when she popped up in season 6 as Frankie. We were both confused for similar reasons.
Paget Brewster, ftw!
This joke makes me laugh every time I watch this episode. I'm still mad that I missed the joke when this episode originally aired.
@@jonathanross149 Honestly yeah. I only ever knew her from Criminal Minds as a very stern character, so seeing her in Community wasn’t what I was expecting, especially when she became one of my favorite characters so quickly. She knows how to be hilarious while being a mostly deadpan character.
Jeff and the Dean going 🤨🤨at each other behind Frankie's back was hilarious and the first time I thought they were genuinely friends.
Yup, one of my favorite moments. xD
Jason Mantzoukas playing the Jason Mantzoukas character lol. Also, very solid performances from Ken, Alison and Jim this episode
to be fair, Jason is great at it
Except she enjoyed getting the positive responses from the director she didn't want to quit even though she saw Chang getting abused. Not that she owes Chang anything, and she did eventually do the right thing. She wasn't exactly an angel through the whole thing.
I really loved his characters in Parks and Rec and The Good Place, too. He just goes for it 😁
1. Ken Jeong is an absolutely incredible actor. He can play Chang in so many kinds of roles and nail it like Danny Pudi.
2. Keith David as Elroy is amazing. ""We have oxygen, we need WiFi!" 😂
3. I love the Gay Dean plotline. It feels like so much went on in this episode.
Not even Annie Kim was able to escape Greendale.
"If coming out is a magic show, and gayness is pulling a rabbit out of a hat, then I'm one of those never ending hankerchiefs"
Absolute golden line
Jeff statement about in the past the best an openly gay man could achieve was the center square was a reference to Hollywood squares. The center square was always Paul Lynde, and he was flamboyantly gay.
“RALPH MACHIO? Showwwed up.”
That whole sequence is one of community’s best moments imo.
The cutest "Milord-Milady" happens in this episode
"I was kind of born to act, Britta. When I do it, I can feel it pleasing the universe." Well, it definitely unironically applies to Alison Brie
She has some great work post-Community. Horse Girl is a surreal look at mental illness.
@@LordVolkov And so fantastic in GLOW too. Should've at least got an Emmy nomination for that role
Did y'all know that was a reference to a line from the 1981 best film oscar, Chariots of Fire (1981)?
Annie is honestly way too nice. The fact that she stood up for Chang after everything he’s done (even if it was for nothing) was actually really sweet. Especially when you consider she was probably his favorite target when he was a Spanish teacher in season 1.
She might be good to him but she's terrible to Britta. Constantly criticizing and antagonizing her. I don't love her this season. But the one they really did a number on was Britta, that really upset me when I first watched this, they literally turned her into a clown, shame.
Yes! I adore Jason Mantzoukas. He has a great voice and such crazy eyes. He is so funny and very underrated.
This is the greatest of the season 6 episodes. Even freaking Chang made me want to cry.
There was a game show in the 1979s consisting of like 9 guests all divided on screen into squares within a square and the celebrity in the middle was center square
The whole Change thing was such a rollercoaster. They really had us with his part.
Frankie was the IT lady from season 5 when they had to do a chain of favors to get the bulletin board up.
Right in the beginning of Pride Month? How serendipitous.
Well, I learned a lot today, perhaps about more than just Community, certainly a lot about smiling, 2nd grade teachers and Brazilian waxes. I hope wherever your former 2nd grade teacher is right now she's looking up at us thinking about what she's done, and I hope these shows keep making you smile.
You may have already gotten the answer from your patrons, but there was a gameshow a while back called "Hollywood Squares" and If i remember correctly, there was an actual grid of 9 squares like, a structure, and each square had a minor celebrity. Also the scene in the office when Jeff and Dean were like trying to figure out whats the deal with Frankie's sexuality...LMAO, so well done!! "yeahp thats an excellent point" Dean Pelton TOTALLY wasnt listening and that was an amazing save, him and Jeff lmao lmao. I did tear up a bit when Chang did his play though, that was a surprise. Thanks for another great reaction
The "center square" line was probably specifically referencing Paul Lynde, who was a regular fixture on Hollywood Squares.
@@rocketdave719 interesting, been a while since I seen that show
Thank you! I've never understood that reference.
@@forgetmenotjimmy My pleasure!
Can't believe the IT lady cant be found. She was just there in season 5 😏
Everything with Chang getting harassed was hilarious.
6:32 he does remember his mom remarried and it was shown in the Christmas episode of season 2 with the stop motion animation
The card jad a picture of her mother his husband and son
This episode is amazing. Both stories are top notch and all is very Community.
Lol she can’t get ahold of the IT lady because it was her 😂 emails bounce back in Aramaic
I genuinely can't imagine having an abusive teacher like that so early on, that would have seriously messed me up. And you're right about waxing, it's a good microcosm of the lengths people go to for beauty.
On a brighter note, I love this episode. I don't really remember references very well but I still sing Gay Dean all the time.
Thanks for the reactions :)
i really love hearing you talk about anything. you have great vibes and i absolutely love your perspective on things :) great timing with this episode: happy pride month everyone! labels are difficult. on one hand theyre really useful as a guideline when youre figuring out who you are and to find a community. on the other hand theyre restrictive and cant possibly fully encompass something as complex as someones identity. fun episode & fun season and also surprisingly real
One of my favorite episodes
Annie: "Let's say you're right, and like Sidney Poitier or Meg Ryan before you, you WERE cast for race."
Britta and Jeff: ????
This episode has two of the funniest lines ever to me. "Are you a demon, did Clive Barker write you?" and "You make ashamed to have thumbs" LOL
Like the channel. She is a delightful person.
Love the video imon Nation stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way
The doubling down on the Gay Dean song was genius.
This episode is a metaphor for things we don't talk about, like Brazilian waxes.
This is such a good episode.
She is such a sweetheart, here for it
Omg the UA-cam app glitched and had no audio when I started this video so I was really worried it got corrupted. I'm so glad the problem was on my end 🙏
“Gay Dean” is a classic remix. We stan a musical homage!!!
You’ve never seen Chariots of Fire have you?
"You're...gay...right? Like, openly?"
"Uhh, I'm not OPENLY anything. And 'gay' doesn't BEGIN to cover it."
Annie got replaced by Annie Kim.
It's all sorts of messed up not only in-universe, but in the story of the show's production as well.
You watch YMH?! she does follow proto
A horror show? Does it look like you've got Buckwheat in leglock?😅
TMI indeed 😅
I'M SORRY. SECOND GRADE?
Ikr, what kind of person can just go off like that at second graders?
While you're right that it does happen, the whole "tough love" thing from Whiplash or this episode doesn't actually work. The scientific research has shown this very conclusively. It's just abuse. There is no caveat to it. Artists perform and create their best when they are supported, not when they are abused.
6:32 that’s a myth
labels are useful when you are learning about yourself, and can help people find communities of other people with similar feelings and experiences. but that's literally just the starting point. every human being is different from one another, and every human being has multiple labels of their own. reducing other people to their labels with any kind of bigotry is simply idiotic. reducing your own self to your labels will guarantee you never discover who you really are. labels are the building blocks of our personal identities; they can be good guidelines. but only you can build up all of that into who you are and who you want to be.
Happy pride month everyone.🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈
Didn't know you wore your jeans high and tight
Imon’s mommy jeans stay high & tight
The flip when he reveals he’s been mean to Ben because he’s talented and nice to Annie because she isn’t was perfect
The joke about the IT lady was that she played that role in an earlier episode
They actually changed platforms entirely from going from Prime time tv to a Yahoo streaming service that ended up failing which is why you never ever hear about it. This season is probably the only good thing that came out of it but Yahoo also blames it for its demise
Which is a laughable idea, because Yahoo TV had absolutely nothing noteworthy aside from this.
Glad you could smile, be happy and laugh and enjoy the episode
