You are correct Joy. You can dress very modestly and wear pants. In some cases pants are more modest than a dress. I’m glad you prayed about it and I’m glad you came to your own conclusion.

I’m so glad you have a channel!
Watching you and your family grow up on TV, I (as I’m sure many have as well) feel you are friends/family. I know you are glad the TV show ended, but the impact your family and values have had on countless numbers of individuals is tremendous. My children see the value in dating with a purpose because of your family. They better understand the importance of respecting and obeying their parents, respecting each other and serving others because of your family.
No matter what the haters say, even your family’s trials and troubles has brought beautiful things and set and example of how to live a Christ like way no matter what.
Thank you for sharing your life with us!

I grew up only wearing Skirts and Dresses also. When I Started 8th Grade the kids at school started to pick on me all the time because I had to wear Skirts and Dresses everyday. I begged my Mom and Dad and Grandparents to PLEASE allow me to wear Pants.
My first pair of Pants that I ever owned was a pair of Pink Polyester Pants. This was 1978.
My Grandma never wore pants her whole entire life. 1911-1978.
I am 58 now and only own 1 skirt.

It’s interesting how we can study the Bible and come to different conclusions. I wasn’t raised modest but in a baptist church. When my husband went to Bible college was told that I would have to dress according to their standards but never showed me from the Bible. It wasn’t until after college that I decided to study to see if it was in the Bible with a heart that truly wanted to know. I thought I was modest wearing shorts as long as they were not Daisy dukes 😂 and I would wear off the shoulder dresses to church but it would be long 😂 so I was comparing modestly to my own standard and when I used the strongs concordance with my Bible I was shocked how much God had to say about how I dressed. I was no longer right in my own eyes but learning what God had to say, even about dresses and the length 😮 my husband at the time was not on board with me Not wearing my jeans and shorts but after he read what I studied from the Bible he was thankful that I chose to dress according to the Bible. That has now been 25 years ago & I’m grateful to have learned that it’s not what so, and so says but what God says in His Word therefore I’ve stayed faithful to Him and not what others say. Freedom 😊

Where is the baby I soooo loved seeing every week? I can barely believe how you've grown and the maturity you embody in your life. Your wisdom, compassion and kindness are beacons of peace and love. I very much enjoy the way you share your family and life and I really feel the same about Jessa. I know the hard truths in life make it difficult to be transparent on social media but you both authentically share and we authentically love you. I always say if your true nature is evident in your daily walk, you cannot hide your shine and conversely if you're not the "real deal", you cannot hide that either. Some1 in Georgia loves you to bits...❤
If someone goes out of their way to hurt, embarrass, shame you for ANY reason, this is YOUR channel and I'll never encourage or condone censorship but comments that hurt you should be removed. People do not deserve to use indelible ink on YOUR life! Nor should they be allowed to benefit from your sharing...I hope you know you've every right to block them. I always kept a laundry basket sitting out in each room of the house. Then I would straighten up a room by throwing the toys in the laundry basket. Children can also easily do this. Then, if company came over, I could round up the laundry baskets and hide them out of site. It was a very low maintenance way to store toys.

I had the same methods of crowd/clutter control. We rotated toys in and out of the toy box so there was only a certain amount out at a time. Also, to have the kids clean up what they were playing with before taking something new out.
My prayer for myself this year is to open my heart honestly to what God is telling me, showing me, giving me. To be aware of all my blessings... during the times there doesn't seem much hope a simple snowflake or cloud formation will catch my attention and give me the smile my heart has for His love.

As you grow older as a couple together, your kiddos grow older. They will eventually be staying up much later and they won’t be as easy to manage or keep on a schedule. That would be so nice but it is natural that they grow and learn! My husband and I have a 7.5 and 9.5 year old. We count on a weekly sleepover where our girls go stay with their Gram Gram. It is so special for them and it gives us that one night together and then the morning after we go out to breakfast. That is a cherished time together. It isn’t 24 hrs long so Gram Gram doesn’t go crazy with the wild kiddos, but it is plenty of time for us to reconnect and enjoy each other again.

Modesty as you mentioned is a factor with God in how we dress. Another thing that comes up in Genesis and Deuteronomy is that men wear men clothing and women wear women clothing and that they do not wear each others type of clothing. This is plainly said in Deuteronomy but in Genesis when Adam and Eve come to the Lord with the fig leave clothing (this is not evident in the English language but is much more evident in the Hebrew) that they had made uniform outfits which appeared alike, yet when God made the clothes of animal skins for them He made a type of style for the man and a type of style for the woman. They were not uniform or alike in appearance. This is where the skirts for women and the pants for men comes into practice for some Christians wishing to uphold this command.

Yes Joy, I love when you said grow close to the Lord for yourself first so that you may have that relationship to show your children. I’ve seen many people grow in their knowledge of the Word, which is what is needed but they stop there & they fail to get to know Him personally, as you said, friend to friend. And then all they have to give to others is religious head knowledge. Praise God for your daily, ongoing, growing up into all Truth. It’s refreshing to see……

Your system with toys in crates is similar to the preschool I volunteered at when my daughter went there. A few things left out. A toy box is crazy. Kids pull everything out everywhere and don't want to put everything away. I had a playroom built in the cellar where the play kitchen table and other big things stayed. A dress up box was always out and a box with musical instruments and a keyboard later violin and piano.

Thank you for this Q & A , I am a grandmother now but definately my kids bed time was 7:30PM although they may not fall asleep for the next hour ,it was time to get some chores done and be able to relax ... I always looked forward to bed time for sure! I didn't grow up in a religious family but I always seeked out God on my own. I know I dressed and still do modestly I have never been one to show much skin I feel that is for your husband and no one else!

I miss bedtimes. LoL. My teens don’t want to go to bed at 730 anymore. LoL. I told them they would regret not napping and going to bed early when they got my age. They don’t believe me though. LoL. They don’t stay up all night on school nights, but I also ask them to atleast be laying down by 1230am on school nights. My daughter will sometimes lay down and go to sleep immediately. They also will be asleep by 10 some nights. As long as school is going well and not sleeping at school, I think they are getting enough rest.
