Everyone wanted to wear 23. People yell “Kobe” when they shoot. Everyone had their tongue out like MJ. Mamba mentality is a real thing. Most players wear Kobe’s or Jordan’s on the court.
Now everyone yells lebron when they want to flop or throw a turnover. 💯💯💯
Lebron wore number 23 cause of Jordan and was a Bulls fan when he was younger.

LeBron James PPG, FG%, 3pt%, TS%, REB, AST, STL, BLK higher then Kobe Bryant. So it's pretty clear LeBron the better player 🤭

Mr rivers is correct. Iverson wasn't the first to sport tats n be expressive.
Rodman opened those doors and broke taboo for today's players to be this expressive.
The tats drinking partying n all were rodmans battles with STERN before Iverson even had 1 corn roll.
FACTS!!!!
Rodman was a weirdo wasn't no one trying to be like him lol
@@TheGreatRobertCharles mmmm ur missing the point. Weird or not.. he not Iverson broken taboo for today players to do as they please.
Every word and syllable from Austin Rivers was 100% correct.
Very well spoken , I’m sure they’ll be limiting his time after that speech 😂.
I'm from Africa and I can tell its MJ and Kobe this side... those that really follow the game like AI and guys like Shaq, Mutombo and maybe even Yao Ming😂
Listen Lebron is strategic he knows what he doing and saying things for a reason come on he knows it's insane not to mention those two. The reason is he doesn't want no light shed on those two whom ppl believe is still better than him. He wants their light complete stuff off and doing everything he can to do so. I guess he didn't think someone like yourself would check him and let the truth be told immediately after his lies or full view on things. U always comparing someone or looking for the next jordan and players describes themselves as the mamba mentality no one else has that kind of influence on players
Simple example look at the women’s college teams and their mentality and the hype they bring to their respected sport because a lot of them immulate Kobe which draws in a specific type of aura to the game
Kobe was really a video game. He really did things on the court that you thought only could happen on a video game. So he was also influential with his heroics being common. Kobeeee
I think everyone believes Curry or Iverson was the biggest influence in the league I will finally put a end to this nonsense Magic Johnson should be head and shoulders above those names there were 6’9 points before magic now you can be 6’7 playing point guard let’s not forget this folks
There's one player that gets disrespected every time these topics are brought up. In fact, he's so disrespected that he's never even mentioned. That's Julius Dr.J Erving. Before Jordan, there was Dr.J. There's NO Jordan without Dr.J. PERIOD. Erving was the first Superstar other than Muhammad Ali that was known worldwide. Everyone took elements of his game and incorporated it into their games. It's a DAMN shame that man never gets mentioned anymore. Dr J was the first GLOBAL Ambassador for the league. He sold his Converse Weapon long before Jordan even got to UNC. In fact, UNC had a contract with Converse before Nike came onto the scene like they are now. Yes, Jordan took it to the next level, but Dr.J rode that horse first. Who was the most voted All Star year in year out? Dr.J! Who was featured in comic book sneaker sales? Dr.J.
It was Dr.J who MJ was compared to, and caused the marketing gurus at the NBA Corporate Office to include Jordan as the 3rd player after Magic and Bird as the future of the league! Why???
Because Jordans game was most likely Ervings, a younger Erving, who did things on the court never seen until Jordan. Which was the main reason why the NBA was so desperate after Magic retired, and Bird was in decline to elevate Jordan to Championship status. Jordan took what Dr.J was and did to the obvious next level.
So, when having these discussions about Jordan and LeBron, Curry etc...Flip that page back a couple years and remember the player who was everything Jordan was and more, but a Billion dollars lighter in the pockets, Julius Dr.J Erving, and give HIM his just due. Leaving HIM out of any of these discussions is simply WRONG, and it should be called out immediately.
And with all due respect, I challenge ANYONE...ANYONE to tell, and show me that I'm wrong!
I just can't take it any more, this total dismissal of the accomplishments, influence, and class that was Julius Dr.J Erving.
Thank You. I feel so much better getting that off my chest, because it needed to be said.
I feel what you saying.Jordan looked up to dr j an you right people don’t talk about him enough. But you have to consider the fact that Jordan took the game to a level no one else did.He is the reason for so many things.Even wilt chamberlain said publicly every NBA player should give a portion of their salary to Michael Jordan because he is the reason they are able to make the type of money they make. That speaks volumes amongst other things Jordan has done for the game. But I agree that DR J doesn’t get the recognition that he rightfully deserves.
Dr J did check everything on that list but his game isn't as well rounded as Mikes
Dr J solely was athleticism.
Both of you are correct. Dr.J did develop a reliable 12 - 18 ft jumper that actually enabled him to stay in the 20+ pt a night range. He had to develop it. He wouldn't been able to drive to the rim because defenses would say and cut the rim off. That's what happened to his former backcourt mate George McInnis. He took his j for granted and it always wasn't there in the BIG GAMES, and Philly ran him outta town.
Dr.J was also a very cerebral player who studied his opponents and was rarely burned not being in the right place on the court
Anyway. Dr J was the tasty pizza sauce no one wanted to disclose the actual ingredients for. You know it's tomato sauce, but you pay extra for those secret ingredients because it takes the whole pizza from just good to DA BOMB!
I hope enough people read this and admit they did leave him out, and now give Dr. Julius Erving his flowers.
WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with EVERYTHING you've said, Sir. Most definitely subscribing.....
KOBE IS THE GOAT 🐐
HANDS DOWN
🤷🏾♂️
It's amazing how the basketball world constantly disrespects what Magic did for the game... a 6'9" PG that revolutionized the game!....because he wasn't a score first player, he and his contribution is always overlooked....he had just as strong a desire to win as Mike and / or Kobe....
when people around the world in china itlay germany japan france etc etc sitting in front of their computer, still watching videos of a guy that died 4 years ago and still cant handle their tears and cry. u know that this guy had an impact on people and influenced them like no one ever before. with jordan it was different. jordan was just famous 4 his basketball. kobe was more than that. his philosophy his speeches his creativity he was not just a basketball star he was a pop culture fiigure. from make the wish foundation to supporting womans basketball and train and teach people and sport stars around the world. what kobe did 4 this planet was more than just basketball.
Kobe also knew like seven languages
Great RESPECT to both you DP and Austin Rivers!!!!
Perfect acknowledgement as far as Culture, World-Iconship and work ethic,,, AND NO, I'M NOT INCLUDING LEBALCO BECAUSE OF HIS CHEATING US AND THE GAME SINCE 2012, which everyone wants to conveniently forget about because of nothing other than today's hero-ism complex....
Excellent points again, by both you and Rivers....
People always use clothes and cornrows for Iverson which get on my nerves. AI influenced the smaller players and they should thank him for the way they handle the ball as well as crossovers
Jordan is Babe Ruth of basketball. Immortal forever the best.
They should be wearing suits to the games..These fools looks ridiculous now.
Y'all gotta stop crying about this. Why are you so worried about what another man is wearing? You undermine everything else you say with crybaby complaints like this.

No its not. Stop with the lies. 😅
Nah bro it’s Mj
I think u can make that argument who knos what all Kobe had going on outside the league he was very private dude. And yes its Kobe we all wanted 2 be like Mike then Kobe and hes loved round the world. Nba hasn't been da same since him n Duncan retired
Totally Agree 👋💜💛
Kobes influence goes beyond bball. He inspired athlese of every sport and people of every profession. Kobe was beyond HUGE over seas. He made bball as popular as it is in China.
Michael Jordan and Kobe's name ring out across the globe more than any other name. Especially Jordan. He's like the ultimate player ever to people globally. He's the mecca, name above all other names. Philippines for example , a country that loves the game is still having trouble knowing or caring about who Steph Curry is. Wife is from there and we live there for 10years off and on.
Lebrons legacy will be the flop and abandoning teams.

Kobe also impacted Kawhi Leonard and Kyrie. Kyrie its a huge Kobe fan i still remember that exchange between Kyrie and Kobe in a Team USA practice were Kyrie was challenging Kobe to play him one on one.
I think he influenced Devin Booker also
Also kyrie calling Kobe after they completed the come back against warriors is very telling.
Brilliant take on what separated Kobe and the element of participation in the thing that made him different. Kudos. One of those takes that when ya hear it, you realize you've felt it all along but never put it into words which for many like myself, is the most tell tale sign of true insight. Well done my man!
RIP Black Mamba Kobe Bryant I love what Kobe said about MJ what you get from me is from him because he guided me so much I wouldn't have those Championships without him. MJ was the best of the best at the time and Kobe wanted to be like Mike so much he almost was like MJ in a way
I have often clashed with Charles (DreamersPro) over Kobe Bryant, but today I am showing solidarity with Kobe’s generational impact, as well as on certain aspects of society. Mamba mentality (despite certain symbolism) can be positive and isn’t just for athletes. Respect ✊🏿
100% agree with you man. Jordan, Kobe, everyone else imo.
kobe showed these kids even veterans work ethic and what it takes and it’s gotten into their blood now everyone got bitten by mamba mamba mentality is a awesome gift to leave for these guys as much as some were pissed about losing to him but when they see his work ethic and how hard he worked they couldn’t stay pissed off because the respect he had for his craft and they didn’t lose to a kid that never went to practice or left early came late it’s
a legend they lost too and can’t be mad at someone for losing to kobe
MJ made people want to play ball. Kobe made people want to get better at playing ball
I’m trying to understand why Allen Iverson gets credit for tattoos and cornrows. That was the culture at that time. Iverson dressed like every rapper and 20 year old during the late 90’s. As far as the crossover, guys were already doing that. They just weren’t allowed to carry back then.
I’m a big fan of AI, but he gets credit for a culture that was already there. He just happened to play basketball. He emulated rappers so much that he had a rap song. And the baggy shorts were before Iverson. The Fab 5 wore the baggy shorts and jerseys at the University of Michigan.
Kobe is beyond basketball that’s something a lot of athletes can’t say….All sports was affected by Kobe’s work ethic and approach to playing the sport they love. MJ can’t say that nor Bron nor Bird nor Magic nor Kareem nor Duncan and Globally speaking I think MJ is the only player that can go somewhere outside the United States and get the love that Kobe get at the same level. Team USA redeem team and dream team tasted the Difference between them and The main guy.
Thank you for talking about Kobe !
Kobe brought the international appeal to the NBA - he was the top global marketing piece for the NBA throughout his career…without social media hype.
You kill me every time you make one of those 'twerking it up' lines. 🤣
Thank you for your great work covering this. Much respect to Austin Rivers after hearing this audio.

Austin spittin facts. And so well spoken. He would make an incredible analyst.
The way BSPN tries to wash Kobe from existence I'll never ever forget and as a result I refuse to watch that POS station.
LBJ is still mad that an entire stadium full of people during the 08 Olympics started yelling Kobe Kobe Kobe when Team USA was announced!
Shout out to Austin Rivers cause cuh always keeps it a 💯 when I hear him talk.... And his high school mixtape is still legendary Ong
thank u Austin for saying the truth , I know it hard to say the truth at ESPN but keep it up...kobe deserves to be on every list
As much as they try, we the fans will not allow the media to erase Kobe's legend and greatness!
No one will ever convince me Kobe wasn’t as skillful as MJ. People left out Magic Johnson who was a star among stars in the 1992 Olympics and a global icon in his own right. Kobe, to me is the greatest competitor ever and his maniacal training and mindset proved it.
Kobe continued a mentality of winning. I believe he was the bridge between the legendary Bird/Magic/Jordan and the current crop of stars like James/Curry/Durant. Besides, any player that would knock his reammate on the floor during the Olympics, to send a message, that’s legendary.
Kobe actually has the most influence when you consider the fact that people who don’t even play basketball yell “Kobe” when shooting in the trash can😂
