Everyone wanted to wear 23. People yell “Kobe” when they shoot. Everyone had their tongue out like MJ. Mamba mentality is a real thing. Most players wear Kobe’s or Jordan’s on the court.

Thats some sidekick. If anything Shaq rode his teammates to the finals every year to dominate and was only ever able to do so when David Robinson, Mutombo, Ewing and Hakeem got old😂
He did the same thing then and he did the same thing with Dwade in 2006 as a shell of himself
Addressing the fact that because of just how much more dominant the West was than the East at that time the best team in the league was always determined during the WCF... in which Kobe always led in 3/5 major statistical categories on better shooting%s further proving my 1st point.
If participation awards like CFMVP (conference finals MVP in which Kobe averaged 25-6-5 on 45.1%/1.5slts 1.4blks for the 2000-02 conf. finals) existed back then, Kobe would have all 3 of them in which factoring in competition would make him the REAL FMVP of those finals runs despite what media votes say😂👎🏾cope harder.

I believe he got them because one day on my twitter I was talking about him and he popped on my timeline lol. And in an interview later he said he loved to surprise people like that. His staying power is next level. So many of the new players wear his shoes and pattern their game after him. We all have a God given purpose when we are born, if we do it, we can leave an impact that can inspire so many that needs to know what their purpose is. There are entirely too many haters out here who are simply unwilling to insert Kobe's name into conversations such as these... The only other thing that I would've included was Kobe's contributions in helping to cultivate and prop-up Women's Basketball overall... He was one of, if not the primary player who was out there publicly promoting the women's game, which included opening up his Academy to assist in the development of WNBA, Women's NCAA, and Girls Youth ballers, especially his own GiGi...

Listen Lebron is strategic he knows what he doing and saying things for a reason come on he knows it's insane not to mention those two. The reason is he doesn't want no light shed on those two whom ppl believe is still better than him. He wants their light complete stuff off and doing everything he can to do so. I guess he didn't think someone like yourself would check him and let the truth be told immediately after his lies or full view on things. U always comparing someone or looking for the next jordan and players describes themselves as the mamba mentality no one else has that kind of influence on players

There's one player that gets disrespected every time these topics are brought up. In fact, he's so disrespected that he's never even mentioned. That's Julius Dr.J Erving. Before Jordan, there was Dr.J. There's NO Jordan without Dr.J. PERIOD. Erving was the first Superstar other than Muhammad Ali that was known worldwide. Everyone took elements of his game and incorporated it into their games. It's a DAMN shame that man never gets mentioned anymore. Dr J was the first GLOBAL Ambassador for the league. He sold his Converse Weapon long before Jordan even got to UNC. In fact, UNC had a contract with Converse before Nike came onto the scene like they are now. Yes, Jordan took it to the next level, but Dr.J rode that horse first. Who was the most voted All Star year in year out? Dr.J! Who was featured in comic book sneaker sales? Dr.J.
It was Dr.J who MJ was compared to, and caused the marketing gurus at the NBA Corporate Office to include Jordan as the 3rd player after Magic and Bird as the future of the league! Why???
Because Jordans game was most likely Ervings, a younger Erving, who did things on the court never seen until Jordan. Which was the main reason why the NBA was so desperate after Magic retired, and Bird was in decline to elevate Jordan to Championship status. Jordan took what Dr.J was and did to the obvious next level.
So, when having these discussions about Jordan and LeBron, Curry etc...Flip that page back a couple years and remember the player who was everything Jordan was and more, but a Billion dollars lighter in the pockets, Julius Dr.J Erving, and give HIM his just due. Leaving HIM out of any of these discussions is simply WRONG, and it should be called out immediately.
And with all due respect, I challenge ANYONE...ANYONE to tell, and show me that I'm wrong!
I just can't take it any more, this total dismissal of the accomplishments, influence, and class that was Julius Dr.J Erving.
Thank You. I feel so much better getting that off my chest, because it needed to be said.

I feel what you saying.Jordan looked up to dr j an you right people don’t talk about him enough. But you have to consider the fact that Jordan took the game to a level no one else did.He is the reason for so many things.Even wilt chamberlain said publicly every NBA player should give a portion of their salary to Michael Jordan because he is the reason they are able to make the type of money they make. That speaks volumes amongst other things Jordan has done for the game. But I agree that DR J doesn’t get the recognition that he rightfully deserves.

Dr J did check everything on that list but his game isn't as well rounded as Mikes
      Dr J solely was athleticism.

    • @spryfolII
      @spryfolII 2 місяці тому

Both of you are correct. Dr.J did develop a reliable 12 - 18 ft jumper that actually enabled him to stay in the 20+ pt a night range. He had to develop it. He wouldn't been able to drive to the rim because defenses would say and cut the rim off. That's what happened to his former backcourt mate George McInnis. He took his j for granted and it always wasn't there in the BIG GAMES, and Philly ran him outta town.
Dr.J was also a very cerebral player who studied his opponents and was rarely burned not being in the right place on the court
Anyway. Dr J was the tasty pizza sauce no one wanted to disclose the actual ingredients for. You know it's tomato sauce, but you pay extra for those secret ingredients because it takes the whole pizza from just good to DA BOMB!
I hope enough people read this and admit they did leave him out, and now give Dr. Julius Erving his flowers.

He's the mecca, name above all other names. Philippines for example , a country that loves the game is still having trouble knowing or caring about who Steph Curry is. Wife is from there and we live there for 10years off and on.

I’m a big fan of AI, but he gets credit for a culture that was already there. He just happened to play basketball. He emulated rappers so much that he had a rap song. And the baggy shorts were before Iverson. The Fab 5 wore the baggy shorts and jerseys at the University of Michigan.
