- In today's video I show you around my newly purchased Vauxhall VXR8 GTS. In most parts of the world these cars are better known as the Holden HSV GTS. This mixes a Supercharged 6.2 Litre Chevrolet V8 a Manual Gearbox and RWD with a Saloon car chassis thats seen generations of development in the Australian V8 Supercar series.

Possibly one of the best bits about HSV is that they made a 4-door 5-seat saloon that would go like stink but would happily bimble around town all day.
The HUD is magic. I thought it would be a gimmick. But after a month in my GTS, I would get in my wife's car and not know how fast I was going.
Beautiful car, 576 bhp and 545 ibft, 0-60 in 4.0 and 0-100 in 9.0, deristricted 205 mph. I’d have mine in orange. Only ever seen one , in Newbury Sainsburys. An orange one.🧡😍

It's a HSV badge on the steering wheel, not a Holden badge. HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) is a car manufacturer in it's own right. Base Holden's (commonly the semi-luxury Berlina model) were shipped to HSV who would give them a lobotomy (as someone once aptly said) and strip them down of a lot of standard parts. They then replaced them with heavy duty performance items. But yea you need to replace the badge on the bootlid with the same as you have on the steering wheel. I upped my Clubsport R8 from 340Kw to 557Kw with a supercharger, cam, exhaust upgrade. They are a hell of a lot of fun.
I have the VE variant in a sport wagon form and swapped the L77 for and LSA engine and love it. Nice to our Brit cousins keeping Aussie legends on the road.

Its cool to see our aussie cars over that side of the world!!! I feel our aussie cars dont get the credit they deserve sometimes we also have arguably the best 6 cylinder motors in the world the ford barra a 4 liter inline 6 turbo 😁
There are a few falcons going around but they never really sold them so they are imports. They are very good cars its a shame they weren’t so easily available
Well everyone I have spoken to says this car is awesome and an animal it's only slow if you're a jet fighter pilot super fast and scary powerful 💪 once again awesome car
I supercharged my VF Clubsport taking it from 340Kw to 557kw. Tons of fun.

When I drove one I thought it was pretty uneventful, nothing really special considering it was 100k plus. The VF SV6 manual ute on the other hand was a hoot and felt much more alive.

I'd only ever seen three of these, and two of those were in showrooms, before I bought my own one at the start of the year.

Get an OTR on that beast ASAP! These are fetching hefty money over here, all the HSV range are really. Cheapest are gonna be the VE series Clubsports that are 17 years old and they’re still starting around $50k AUD

@@rowanlewisuk Over The Radiator cold air intake. I’ve got the VF SS Commodore with the Walkinshaw 375 pack. Pretty standard beginner upgrades which include OTR, ceramic coated headers, dual cat backs and tuned to run on 98 Octane

Only just tracked down new rear shocks, but finding a rear spring seat rubber also seems impossible to find.
I have one, and unfortunately it also comes with additional features like unwanted attention. Get eyes all the time! Some stunned looks, some looks of awe! Heads turn, in some cases the sunnies get pulled down etc lol! At the lights, ppl speed off even in their shtboxes lol. Its like, dont waste my time!! Anyway, enjoy and please, STAY IN YOUR LANE!

As an Aussie....they are not over $100k. Unless you're in the eastern states where they charge sentimental value. Anywhere from $36k to $70 realistically which is about £15k to £35k
@@kierenmcgivern for this shape your looking about £50k uk. ve clubsports are about £18-£25k. Monaro non supercharged about £10k
@@rowanlewisuk seen a few online as I'm looking to buy which the vxr8 flags up around the £20-25k range. Albeit not supercharged so your point is more accurate than mine.
@@kierenmcgivern factory supercharged ve shape ones can go for 40-50k bathurst s for example. Seen a few non factory supercharged for 27-30k

Install an OIL CATCH CAN
Is that a problem on these?
Increased crank case pressure...pushes loads of oil back into the manifold and throttle body.
Oil catch can does exactly what it says: catches the oil from the crankcase and only allows air to travel back into the manifold. Carefully remove the rubber pipe from infront of the throttle body and clean the black soot with carburettor cleaner(spray same on a towel)
I have elite engineering catch can on my LS3 and works a treat
@@rowanlewisukEnhanced Automotive in Adelaide Australia have worked on mine. He makes a billet vacuum pump for these which you connect to a catch can. My VF GTS is making 586kW at the rear wheels.

Technically they arent a Chevrolet engine. They are a General Motors Powertrains engine used by Chevrolet, HSV etc.

@@rowanlewisuk The HSV Senator combines luxury and performance, with its more understated executive looks. It has more power than the HSV Clubsport for instance, premium interior, and a comfortable yet sporty ride using its own special suspension. They were only sold in Australia.

do you know why the vauxhall has the red circle reflecter on the back and the australian version doesn’t?
*It's because they get heaps more foggy days in the UK than Australia and it's always dark and raining in the UK as well. It helps prevent getting rear ended in poor visibility.💯%*
Only 50% chev engine,,black part genuinely are black, the Aliminium is Australian....Brakes, suspension and all other parts are Australian
@@andyalways8081 i have to agree. I have done alot more research since posting this video and yes it’t not a just chevy engine holden did a lot of engineering on the lsa.
brakes are ap racing which is uk company, magneride shocks are delphi/gm

In the US they are a Pontiac G8
the pontiac g8 is 10 years older than this. the closest thing you have is the chevy ss but thats ls3 not lsa like these.
