Before I begin my actual comment, I would like to apologize in advance for my inadequate level of English proficiency. I am not a native speaker of the world's current lingua franca which unfortunately leads to me making numerous embarrassing mistakes being made whenever I attempt to communicate using this language. Whenever I am reminded of how I lack the ability to convey my thoughts in an eloquent manner, I feel as though I have committed a cardinal sin, as though every English teacher in the world is simultaneously shaking their head and sighing due to how utterly disappointed they are at me.
Although I know that saying sorry to those of you who are reading my comment will not change the fact that I fail miserably to write and speak perfect English, I am writing this as a way to deter a certain type of people who cannot stand poor English (Also known informally as Grammar Nazis) from mocking me by posting unwanted and unnecessary comments detailing my every blunder. In my humble opinion, making grammatical errors should be perfectly acceptable as native speakers should not expect non-native speakers to be able to communicate in their second or third languages eloquently. If you are able to completely understand what the other person wrote, is there really a problem with what they've written? No, because the entire concept of communication is the exchange of information between other intelligent beings, which means that no matter how the exchange of information is made, as long as the information is accurately shared there is not a fundamental issue with their ability to communicate. To see it in another way, remember that someone who isn't fluent in English is fluent in another language. When you think about it this way, isn't it impressive for someone to speak a second language in any capacity? Having empathy and respect are qualities that are sorely missing for far too many people these days, especially on the internet.
That being said, I am aware that not all netizens who correct others are doing it to ridicule and shame. There are some who do so with the intent to help others improve and grow. However, displaying the failures of other people publicly will cause the person who is criticized to feel negative emotions such as shame and sadness due to the fact that their mistake has been made obvious which severely undermines the point they were trying to make in spite of their unfamiliarity with the English language. In most circumstances people are not looking for language help when they post anything online. Most people just want to enjoy themselves and have a good time on the internet which is why I would not encourage correcting other people regardless of your intentions. If you really do want to help others with their spelling or grammar, I would highly recommend you to help via messaging privately because not only will you not embarrass anyone, you can also go more in-depth with your explanation which I'm sure the other person will greatly appreciate if they want help, but I digress. I know that I've written a bit of an essay, but I hope I've made my points clear.
Anyways, here is the comment I wanted to make:

No they don't, but we get what you're trying to say
Edit: didn't want to say in case it was too long-winded, but judging by the replies, the obvious must be said...
... Vultures won't always wait until you're dead. They'll perch above you and shit on you. They'll land next to you and hop around. One will even come and peck at your toe
They'll do all this to test that you're at death's door; to see if you'll fight back and resist.
Basically: they *will* eat you alive, but *only* if you're blind, crippled, starved, or otherwise unable to defend yourself (as good as dead)
If you still have some pep and fight them off, they'll flap just out of arms reach and wait for you stop resisting
Which most often _means_ death, but does not always necessarily mean so.
      Hope this helps.

@Tacidian It was incomprehensible since just 10 short years prior Germany had to deal with the Baader-Meinhoff terror group. Plus, the press already made an ass of themselves during the Munich olympics. But obviously no lessons were learned.
On top of all that, Germany's media landscape had changed massively with the introduction of private TV stations. Up Until 1985 there were only 3 public channels, and those were offline for the better part of the day. Reporters got a bit rabid - to say the least - with their 24/7 opportunities.

The Gladbeck incident is one that gets glossed over so much, it’s pretty much been entirely ignored until the last three years or so. It’s like nobody wanted to talk about it meanwhile we’re being inundated with these disgusting reality TV shows. And Gladbeck was the original reality TV show gone off the rails. It showed the absolute worst in media and the absolute worst in the people who consume main stream media. Silke was so young and her death so unnecessary. Let’s not forget about that obscene jail sentence that the Germans handed down to this celebrity murderer. It was an absolute slap in the face, you look at that now and that’s not justice. They may have gone to court but Silke never got justice another did her family. And peoples reluctance to say her name is really just giving her the final death where she is sent into a black hole and no one ever speaks her name again! Or the name of the boy that was shot on the bus, whose name I cannot remember off the top of my head ( I’m so sorry ). But none of them have had justice and it’s unfair and it’s not right. It’s one of the darkest moments in media history besides a few other horrible incidents. But this one a whole other level.

Journalists are just literal clout chasers. It isnt about the story, it isnt about the people, it is about THEM getting the story and THEM interviewing the people. Its pure selfishness given human form. Even Critics think they are like demigods, that the unwashed public ears wait to hear their trivial opinion on a movie, on a restaurant or on a political matter. They are like entitled Rock stars, you need to treat them with respect regardless of what they say or do, Listen to them and believe it no matter how often they get it wrong and if you DARE question them.

I think it's what they call "fight, flight or freeze" when your adrenaline has been soaking in your brain and you're logically trapped from either fighting or fleeing you end up almost paralysed.
Focusing with all your might on being still enough to not get shot isn't something you can easily just turn off plus your brain just goes to mush. Humans are well adapted to survival, if a hyena had attacked them they could run from it or beat it to death with a stick but facing a life or death situation which requires inaction just breaks human instincts.
