I picked one up a couple of days ago, and I've put around 300 rounds through it, and i like it its very smooth recoil impulse I'll be carrying when i find a good holster
I'm up to a thousand rounds through my APX Full-size (Gen 1) and actually prefer the first gen to this A1 version. It was damned close to perfection for ergonomics, trigger and mag release. Not sure why they had to go and mess with it.
Finally, a person that can explain proper trigger technique for a Stryker fired weapon. Firing from the reset . Dig it 400 bucks ? Nice I gonna check one out.
For some reason I disliked the vertical serrations but these are actually nice. I carried the 92sf in the Air Force so a return to Beretta seems fitting
Good points on the trigger. I picked up one recently and still getting used to it. Probably why I was hitting low at first. The trigger does feel light though
Yeah I was pulling them low as well. And while I could be wrong, I also think that there’s chance way the manual recommends using the factory sights might be a tiny bit off; after I zeroed with a laser, when I look down the sights, it seems that the circle of the front sight should be a little closer to the middle of the top of the rear sights (as opposed to all of the tops being flush). Hopefully that makes sense. And who knows if that will help other people, but it helped me and now I’m just BEAMING targets with it!
Beretta APX A1 was the very first gun I own. She performed decently and helped me a lot on familiarizing how to shoot. I didn't like were the trigger that not only have a long wall before the actual break, but also has that spring vibration after pulling the trigger (perhaps only my gun does it?) But this probably wasn't a bad thing since after getting used to this trigger, I feel like alll other guns (even the glock gen 5) have better triggers than this and I can get used to them relatively fast. I sold her at the end of last year because I need money to build my AR. I actually miss her quite a lot🙁
It’s not a budget gun, it’s not as popular as it’s competitors and is sold at a reasonable price because so. It’s every bit as if not more capable than the competition. In reality this is the price point most polymer striker fired guns should be anyways.
Agreed! Thank you for pointing out that this is not, nor was it intended to be a budget gun! Calling it budget gun absolutely put it in a comparison with guns it far outpaces by a long shot!
Looking to buy one. It’s just insane how pricey it is in Italy compared to the US, as here it sells around 700 €. Yeah I know that US market Berettas are made in the US, but hey.. I live 120 miles from the original Beretta Factory so that difference just drives me crazy 😅. Anyway next month I’m gonna get one…
That’s an amazing deal. The same combo is $550 where I’m at-and even that seems like a good deal since the Burris FF3 is over $200 alone and the APX A1 costing between $400-$480 alone (at least near me)
I love my CX4, such an underrated PCC. It's in the same camp as the PX4, in that it looks ugly to most people so they avoid it despite being the best affordable PCC on the market. The telescoping bolt (much like the amazing Uzi 9mm) makes the recoil much better than a Ruger PC or AR9 despite also being simple blowback. Amazing how much looks decide a gun's fate.
The aesthetic choices of Beretta's polymer offerings have been baffling, especially since their flagship pistol is arguably the most beautiful pistol ever designed and the Cheetah series isn't far behind.
@@gutblaster187 I bought one and personally love the look of the APX A1. Awesome ergonomics (best in the category imho), Pic rail, I love the new slide, etc. The 92 looks awesome (and the 80x looks like a mini 92), but functionally this is just a totally different pistol-striker fired, it’s modular, polymer frame, has a low bore axis, no manual safety, you can swap out the backstraps, etc. It’s also significantly smaller than the 92-it’s the same size as guns like the M&P 2.0 and Walther PDP. So like a “mid-full-size,” if that makes sense. And the price!! It’s one of the most affordable quality 9mm pistols out there (certainly more affordable than a 92, especially ones that also have an optics cut, which the A1 has). Hey, it’s America, I say get both! 😂
@@archipelago93 I have both and agree that the APX A1 is superb. Aesthetically, it looks like most of the other polymer SF guns on the market - no better and no worse. I was referring to the comment above regarding the aesthetics of the CX4 and PX4, which would apply to some extent to the APX A0 as well. Personally I liked the uniqueness of the slide serrations on the A0, but it's also easy for me to see how a lot of people did not. Again, the PX4s metal framed predecessor - the Cougar - was a fine looking pistol, whereas the PX4 itself takes some getting used to visually (despite being an innovative and extraordinary handgun).
I typically don't purchase striker-fired pistols but Gunprime was offering this packaged with the Burris FF3 for $419 so couldn't turn it down. The trigger has more creep than the new generation of fully tensed SF pistols but one plus I noticed is that the second wall before it breaks has good definition and therefore is easily staged. It's not a PDP trigger but more like a refined stock Glock trigger. My thought is that that's not a bad thing for a defensive handgun.
Seen any issues with brass hitting the RDO during ejection, specifically the right side edge? I've seen/heard this occur with two seperate APX/Burris FF3 users.
My a1 bounces the rounds off the Burris red dot. It’s taken most the paint off the right side of the red dot plus a mark on the glass and after less than a box of federal 124gr.
Have you experimented with grains for different results? Curious if that's the factor. I saw the same issue at the end of an APX A1 review by @TheGunCollective. Major reason why I went with the non-RDO version. Let us know how it goes!
I tried 115 and it was the same. It took almost two months to get any help from beretta and all they did was send me all the ejection parts and pretty much said good luck. They told me they had never heard of the issue and no clue what it could be. I love the feel of the a1 but after less than 100 rounds and tons of messing around, it was time to move on. I bought a cz p10f and loved it so much I also bought p10c. I’m going to trade the a1 off when I find something else. I’m not paying another $50 for a blank plate and don’t feel like wasting more ammo or time trying to make it work.
One minor error on your written review: you say that it comes with “two” backstraps. It actually comes with three: a small, medium, and large-the medium comes pre-installed on the gun.
If you have proper trigger control then these minor trigger differences do not matter w.r.t. to bullseye; just preference. Its not like it's a 20LB trigger.
baretta look like agressive for market strategy which is good after the take a good position fs92. i would rather go for this gun for this price rate. reliable good looking gun and trusted company for sure
They're releasing a tactical version with threaded barrel and co-witness sights. I'm hoping they come out with a centurion model soon as well. I have the original APX, an APX A1 carry and this full size APX A1. Love my Beretta pistols.
I thought the distance in between the wall in the break is called creep like trigger creep and travel is a distance from where you start to the wall is that correct?
I do like Beretta pistols but for the $ the Arex Delta Gen 2 is the best bang for the buck optic ready pistol. Plus they include the optics plates in the box. They can be found for less than $400 pretty easily.
@@gutblaster187 yes, sort of. Serialized part is the fire control unit (trigger, trigger bar, locking block) in the front part of the grip. Sear group is self contained in the rear. Both easily come out after taking the pins out, and reassemble just as easily. It's not Sig P320 levels of disassembly ease, but how often do you really take your fire control out of your grip?
Can u tell me the optic set up here I’m having tough time finding a set up for my A1 tactical, did u use an optic plate? Barretta is telling me optic plates aren’t available for the full size.

Also, when I registered the gun I did not get the link for my free optic plate. Emailed customer service and they did send the link. Weeks later when I inquired about my plate I was told that I missed the promo. They could clearly see when the registration took place if they bothered to look!! And also much better capacity in the same size gun. I’ll pass on Berettas terrible customer service in the future!!!!
I still have the Beretta 92FS that I bought 30 years ago. Fine piece of machinery! The APX A1 here I basically got for free between the rebate and gift cards. The trigger doesn’t compare to Canik and is probably the worst trigger on any gun that I own. And at only 9 + 1 that capacity isn’t even close to other guns in this size range. And Berettas customer service was terrible!

Definitely way better than my apex a1 carry which is terrible. By far the worst trigger I've ever laid hands on. I wish the internals of the a1 carry were the same as the full size gun.
Bret says to wait up to 10 weeks for $100 rebate on this gun. I sent my rebate form in on November 26 and they just informed me it will arrive mid to late March. What a joke.
Yeah some similarities but I’ve heard the APX A1 carry trigger is bad. For whatever it’s worth, the FS is made in Italy while the Carry is made in the US
This gun is usually available for $350-$400 without the red dot. That’s a pretty solid deal imo.
It really is.
With the red dot I picked up mine for $549 and ended up adding a light & laser combo for about $150. Love it so far!
Just picked one up with the Burris red dot for 480 out the door. I'm pumped to shoot it today!
The slide slams home after magazine inset?
Which red dot?
