Just picked up mine today. Picked it up on sale for $438. Not the worst pistol, nor the greatest, but you do get a lot for the money. It certainly doesn't have the charm of my 92's. My favorite aspect is that it is a modular handgun and it performed excellently in the XM17 competition. It is grossly underated and truly a hidden gem. The APX A1 takes it to the next level with a revamped slide and Beretta's competition striker spring and competition guide rod with the flat wound spring installed. Cannot wait to hear what you think of it.
The greatest pistol? Nah. My favorite polymer pistol straight from the factory? Yes!
I love S&W PC models, I like Glocks, Taran Tactical Glocks are just fantastic.
But the APX A1 for a “base” factory pistol is my favorite.
It’s a pleasure to shoot and for the money, I think it’s the best polymer pistol on the market by a decent margin.
@@frankyeilding2546 I do agree. You get a lot for the money. Unfortunately, there is no upgrade path to make them better. I think a great trigger would help get the APX off the ground over it's above average goodish but not great, trigger. I would definitely take it over a Glock, HK VP9, Sig P320/M17/M18. I think the PPQ or PDP-like trigger would help this pistol immensely. I like the Walther trigger, but the frames feel lumpy. This pistol is definitely more comfortable. I think there is a lot of potential to build future striker fired pistols off of. Beretta definitely fixed the very off putting styling of the original, while making some, but not very meaningful improvements under the hood. Now it's an actually decent looking pistol. I also think Beretta should have made it accept 92 magazines which would have been a huge selling point. Unfortunately, in the end, this is a pistol that just really doesn't stand out to most people, which is a shame.

The trigger on mine is really quite nice. It was good out of the box but has gotten even better with use.
Good! It’s entirely possible that some are better than others.
While viewing this video, I felt Mr. HRFunk put this pistol through a wringer to get to the bottom of it. Rather than just presenting the features as if reading from a script, he made an honest assessment. I do have to remind myself bigger picture of this handgun would emerge after he brings it to the field to put it through its paces. Thank you for your sincere efforts, sir, for what you can make available to us on about half an hour video.

A good detailed cleaning should resolve the trigger issues - what he describes is not normal for the APX.
Why is it that whenever I make an objective, albeit negative, comment about a firearm, someone always tells me my experience is “not normal?” Why is my experience any less normal than a differing one expressed by someone else?

Great review! That's why I like the Canik Line. They come with several Optics Mounting plate in the box. Also a tool set is included to use to mount the optic.
Finally, someone talking about how your finger gets pinched in the trigger guard! Mine was shaving skin off the side of my fingertip. I used an exacto knife to smooth it over and I love the gun now.
Mr HR FUNK, good review. I personally love my original APX. I have full size and centurion. I bought the full size back in 2018 in which was 530. I made changes to fullsize by changing grip frame to wolfgray with black backstraps, red and green optics sights, striker fire pin to competition spring(green) sold on the website and coil spring. I love my original apx more than new apx a1. Slide serrations work great and I'm keeping the original. Great review.

I just got the APX A1 to the range. My main concern was the trigger. Dry firing it, I thought I made a $437 mistake. On the range, it makes sense and I shot it incredibly well. The trigger even got better as it broke in. It also didn't take long to figure the trigger out. I agree with most that have reviewed this gun. The trigger slates between a Glock and a PDP. I also liked it better than the M17. It does the same thing as the M17, at least for me, where the more effort you put in, the worse you shoot. It feels like a handgun you can plop in someone's hands who has little to no experience and have them proficient with it within a day. It is incredibly well balanced and the balance does not change as you get low on ammo. It's incredibly soft shooting and it almost aligns itself back on target. I really enjoyed it shooting it. Definitely a keeper.

My APX A1 also pinches my trigger finger, there's a shallow slot in the bottom rear of the triggerguard just above/forward of the magazine catch which the toe of the trigger partially enters at the end of the trigger stroke. That slot has relatively sharp edges - I took the chassis out of the frame and used the blade of a utility knife/boxcutter to shave/scrape those sharp edges down into a more gentle bevel, and after reassembling the trigger no longer pinches me.
Also, I took advantage of Beretta's "Black Friday" sale to buy a couple of different optic plates and several magazines, and wound up with a 30% discount on $200 worth of merchandise + free U.S. shipping.

I like all of the APX A1 improvements. The new slide and longer beaver tail and larger trigger guard undercut make it more balanced. I didn’t mind the look of the original APX slide but the weight of it was ridiculous. Both of my original APX had not quite going into battery issues.
The optics plate issue is even more complicated. The screws that came with the optics plate that Beretta sent me were not long enough. I had to go to my local hardware store and buy the correct length screws.
The”best in class” level trigger is better than the original APX so you can imagine…….,
AN excellent encompassing review. I appreciated the use of your vise for the trigger pull evaluation. Using this method on every firearm will certainly give a precise comparison!! I have a 92SF from 1986. It shoots well and is very reliable, but no comparison to my Canik Rival Darkside With Holosun Green dot sight. Each one has it's purpose. I don't think I will be purchasing an APX.
Maybe at my age now a S&W Equalizer will be my new purchase. I feel nothing is a bargain if it won't perform. I have found quality over quantity is best for me. I save my money and buy the highest quality and best equipped firearm that shoots well for me. If I ever have to use one in self defense I want the highest possible performance and reliability for the best outcome for me

I got a chance to shoot the APX A1 at Texas Gun Experience and I like it. For 430-479 at most places around me this is a great deal for what you get. Compared to the original APX, the A1 variant has a better trigger (although that isn't saying much and the trigger is barely better than a Glock trigger), comes with night sights, removed the finger groove, has more usable slide serrations IF you have sweaty hands, has a double trigger undercut, checkering on different parts of the grip, comes optics capable, improved the ergonomics (especially the beavertail area to get your grip really under the gun to manage recoil, comes with a longer lasting recoil spring, has the green striker on by default, and it supposedly has a more durable finish to prevent rusting/corrosion but most guns these days don't have that issue if you take care of it. For all of those upgrades and changes, I would take the Beretta APX A1 variant over the original APX any day. The newer A1 variant is also cheaper and easier to come by than the RDO version of the original APX. I also think the trigger will get better the more you shoot because the one at Texas Gun Experience has thousands of rounds through it really smooths the trigger out. I'm used to Glocks though so even this feel like an upgrade. I do wish that the trigger is more like a Canik or Walther trigger though by default.
The primary things I don't like about it is that the APX A1 doesn't come with mounting plates for optics by default (nor can you get a voucher for a free one) and that the gun uses a combat sight picture so I have to adjust from my usual center hold for most pistols when I line up the sights while aiming. I know that the cost of ordering the optics plate will still make it cheaper than something like a MOS Glock, optics/C.O.R.E M&P, and so forth, but when companies like Canik and IWI can have their pistols come with all the optic plates at around the same price (or lower) than the APX A1, why can't Beretta do it as well? It's a missed opportunity for Beretta to set themselves above most of the popular competition. If you aren't used to a combat hold as well, having the optics plate to mount and zero an optic makes that a non issue.
Overall the APX A1 is a solid pistol to me with great value. Is it my favorite pistol? Absolutely not, but if I owned one I would be happy with it.

I replaced my APX with the upgraded version about 6 weeks ago and my initial take on it was similar. I don't like the blacked out rear sights either. They are not suppressor height so you cannot cowitness with the optic. When I took it to the range I found the trigger to be much better with live ammo than dry fire. It is a very smooth shooter. I have no explanation for the trigger feeling when it goes bang. I paid $450 for it so the cost of the optics plate is not much of a factor. S&W gives you a lot of plated but they are plastic and prone to break under the stress of repeated recoil. I go to C&H precision for steel plates. .
I like the original look better and never had any problem gripping the slide. The wide serrations work very well with heavy winter gloves

Affordable and a great addition to any collection. I opted to wait for the compact centurion A1 version. They exist in Europe but waiting for it to hit the US market. *Fingers crossed

I had a APX centurion, Good gun. Got it for 369.00 2 years ago. Eventually sold it. Wish i would have kept it For the money it was excellent
I had the same problems with the trigger. It needs to break softer and not pinch the finger.
Got one earlier this year (2024). The trigger gets better with rounds through it. My biggest issue was it would not cycle properly (lots of stovepipes) with the factory recoil spring assembly when shooting 115GR FMJ from any manufacturer. Factory RSA was also very hard to rack the slide. Wound up buying the original APX double spring RSA to get it to cycle properly. With the new RSA it works fine now and I am much happier with it. 500 rounds through it now.
I totally agree with the mounting plate issue. It's kind of like getting a new car with no headlights or turn signals, yeah you can drive it just not at night time. Not until you order the headlights and turn signals. It's just another way to squeeze more money from the consumer.

MANY, highly similar, autoloaders compete. Strangely enough, my “ancient” M&P 1.0 “police model” (same 4.25 inch barrel length, same 17+1 capacity, same Picatinny rail, excellent night sights and a crisp trigger break) keeps serving me with flawless reliability and fine accuracy. As I recall, once the projectile departs the muzzle, latest and greatest “bells and whistles” (such as red dots and forward serrations) don’t alter the projectile’s flight path or terminal ballistics.
Bite your tongue Roy! Don’t you know the the newer and Cooler a pistol looks the the better the bullet performs?
None of my HKs are optics ready and I don’t know how they handle the optics plates. About a year ago I bought a Walther PDP. It did not come with a plate. I had to go on the Walther website and fill out a form to request the plate I wanted. The good news is that the plate and shipping were free and the plate arrived in less than a week.

Amazing firearm. For the price it really shines and is insanely ergonomic. I prefer the compact versions but man it needs more aftermarket love.
100% agree about the optics plate opinion. I bought the original APX Centurian RDO and it came with four different optics plates. I don’t plan on buying an A1.
I just picked up mine with the optic option mounted at the factory. Burris Fastfire 3. The optic lists just under $300. Bass Pro was listing it for $549 but after in store discounts applied, came to $465. Now Beretta has a $100 rebate till the end of the year...that makes the gun with optics $365...it was shooting center but low but was able to zero it with 1 mag. For the $, one of the best deals. After the 1st 200 rounds, i can say I really enjoy firing it. BTW, as a lefty, I changed the magazine release in only a few minutes. Beretta has posted a video that makes it simple. I do agree on the plates and can't believe that the MOS blank plate was not included. Beretta used to offer 1 free plate but learned they ended that program. Still, for the deal, even considering the Canik (I have a Mete MC9) and IWI alternatives, I am very happy.

Great review! I recently picked up the APX A1 and after a couple range days with it, I noticed my trigger also weirdly pinches the trigger finger as well. I thought it was me, but apparently it is happening to others as well. I’m going to experiment with different blackstrap’s to see if that changes anything.

@@hrfunk I finally did some testing and here's what I found. Changing the backstraps had no effect on trigger finger position. However, I bought a new frame in a different color. The trigger guard on the new frame measured .01 inch taller than the black frame on my calipers. The change eliminated pinching, although there is still a slight rub on the bottom of the trigger guard. For me, it's at least tolerable now.

I completely agree about the not included optic plates for optics ready pistols. It is just silly.
I used my credit card points from Pro Bass with 10% off and picked mine up for $234.00. This is a really nice firearm. Glad I have it. Great shooter. I just have a slight problem with the take down lever. Still hard to press to get the lever down. Copy that on trigger pinch. Mine too.
I just got mine and have had a hard time with takedown. What I figured out was to remove magazine and use the edge of it to push the button in for the lever instead of pushing on it with finger. Others with push the button on corner of a table or something similar

Canik provides several different plastic mounting plates which costs them next to nothing. After I damaged one, they sent me a replacement plate free of charge. Is there any reason Beretta can't at least include plastic mounting plates with the APX A1 and offer the aluminum plates as an option?

Did you ever do a review of the original APX? Also, you should try making some shorts from your existing videos! Shorts have been doing very well on my channel and are a great way to get your channel seen by more people. They don't produce any ad revenue at the moment, but they will starting February. Finding a way to edit those 20-foot tack driver clips I bet would do very well in a short format.

Would like your review of the Walther PDP, looks similar to this. I heard the APX has a sloppy squishy trigger, and the fix is the firing pin spring.

Pretty good overview of its characteristics, but I think I've lost count of the negative reviews of the backstrap latch. I don't see the problem. Field strip the gun, and it's easy to access. And I EDC a number of items which will operate it: multiple attachments on my multi tool, my car keys, house keys, and my pen. A knife will do it, too, but knives should be used as knives. What I don't generally have on me is a hammer and set of roll pin punches.
I think the trigger pull is better on the original, but folks complained about weak reset, so Beretta upped either the trigger return or sear return spring. It's not a range toy pull, but anyone who can't group with it should avoid anything remotely DA.
I like your comment about Optics Ready...you are absolutely correct and it is annoying. Shouldn't have to buy additional plates to be able to put on a red dot. Plates should come with it. It is optics capable but definitely not optics ready. Great review. Thanks!

Good morning HR. The finish on the slide may be improved but the finish on the slide stop looks worn off. It would be great if optic companies could settle on one mounting pattern and eliminate the need for different plates. Looking forward to the range review on Saturday.

i like some of your video's i'm new to your channel and i have to say i'm looking to maybe buy this pistol and your comments on the trigger out of all the video's i have seen, yours is in the only one to not like it and the trigger pull lbs are over 1lb more than the others as well, and i've watched to date 28 videos on the APX A1, wonder if maybe you have a defective trigger in need of some warranty work ?

Good video HR. My copy does not have that trigger pinch the finger issue as you indicated but I can see what your indicating.
Shooting the gun helps smooth things out around the thousand round mark the gun runs just a little smoother.
Since I customize Beretta 92s and build Beretta race guns there are several things you can do to make this gun very very smooth, but this is not the place to go into it.
Outstanding video as always and I agree with the optics plate issue. If the end user wants to change the plates be very careful taking the two screws out they are torqued down really good at the factory and there's an issue of end-users stripping out the screws trying to get them out.

I used a Glock in a few competitive shoots and ended up with blisters on my trigger fingers from the same pinching
I just bought mine a few weeks ago for my EDC CCW for my new job as Corporate Security/ Executive Protection. Curious as to trying to finding a holster. Most holster manufacturers say APX or APX FS, for full size which is the 4.25 barrel. That is good but yet some say APX1 FS. I have heard the APX A1has a lower picatinny rail and the photos tend to prove it. I have contacted several holster manufacturers and they say no problem between the two. I do not want to put out the money and wait for a holster only to find it does not fit. Long story short does this fit an APX FS holster? Sorry for the long story. Also sorry on your complaints, such as the trigger. I like DA/SA pistols and do not care too much for striker fired handguns. Mine has a bit of a pull but I like it. I know when the gun is going to go bang and where the reset is so i am on the trigger as needed.

One of the better values. I picked my original APX centurion for well under $300. Taurus money for a Beretta? Yup. Of note, the grip circumference can get down to be very small. PDP F series vibes for half the cost.
Was there any change to the trigger from the APX offered to the military and the civilian one? Never been a Beretta fan, but that’s just me. Did Beretta ever release their military model to the civilian market?
Not that I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if there were any differences between the civilian version and the one submitted to the military. Presumably it would’ve at least had to have had an external safety. Beyond that I don’t know.
They had an FDE version that was released for the original but I am not sure if that is similar to the one tested. They are currently selling a frame with a safety on it for 120 bucks on Beretta's website but it is only available in black and looks like a bear to install.
Just bought this for 300 nvm the 100 rebate. Ordered a plate and some mags shipped out next day as of June 2024.

The gent from Beretta was undeniably pushing the APX as a police duty weapon. This may explain the 6+ pound trigger. That being said, its a Beretta for 4 bills. If they support the chassis system like SIG does? I can see this being a player.
If its physically impossible to get a small grip slide and barrel? Id rather get the rotating barrel PX4 if I needed a Beretta.

HR, changing the back straps are quite easy and swapping the mag release is the same as on the PX Storm series, not that difficult.

my two cents, I own a 92FS, PX4 Storm full size, an APX Centurion, and now the APX A1. Bought the APX Centurion like 3 days before the whole world shut down in 2020, how's that for timing. Anyway, I do think the APX is a underrated pistol, especially because when I bought the Centurion it was 330 bucks and the A1 was about 475, which considering the average price of a good striker fire pistol these days is now well north of 500, a bargain especially because it's Beretta so you know it was made by professionals. And, at least at the Scheels I shop at, APX magazines are usually 30 bucks or less, And they do make 21 round magazines for it.
I found the Gen 1 sights to be better compared to the A1 but the A1 had a better trigger. I don't like the black out rear sight with the night sight, I think I'm gonna try to find better sights for the A1

Hi. I've heard the APX employs "combat" rather than "target" sights. I have at least two other branded guns which employ combat sights and I don't care for them. The point of impact is consistently a few inches low. I've had trouble adjusting the point of aim to make the point of impact what I want. Seems to me not only does the point of aim need to be higher, but the gun must be positioned at an incline with the front sight higher than the rear. On one gun with the combat sights, I finally changed the rear sight to something much higher, which transformed the gun from a source of constant annoyance to one of my favorites. Can you provide your thoughts on combat sights versus target sights?
I’m not a fan of the “Combat Sight” concept. Interestingly, although I’ve heard the term applied to various pistols that tend to shoot low, I’ve never heard a manufacturer attest to the fact that their handgun employed Combat Sights.
@@hrfunk I've encountered one that stated it clearly. I also have an earlier and later version of the Girsan MCP35 PI and the later (Ops) version clearly shoots lower than the standard version. While the rear sights are almost identical in appearance, further review suggests the Ops version sight is lower because it's part of the optics cutout cover plate. I've asked for comment from the importer. Doubt I'll get it. Some reviewers have said the Beretta APX has "combat" sights and if so, I think I'll pass on what otherwise seems like a good value. Seems to me, the industry should adopt some standards so there is greater consistency. Every time I buy a new gun, I now wonder if it will shoot similarly to 75% of my collection. Begs the question, when is a gun inaccurate and when has the manufacturer employed a different aiming system? All I know is some guns are easy to get on target and some require a real learning curve or a change of sights, which I finally performed with good results in the first instance I encountered.
May I ask which manufacturer said they employed “combat sights”?
@@hrfunk Yes, the Bersa TPR-9. They use Sig sights. Sig no longer makes rear sights higher than #8, so I had a hard time finding something higher. Fortunately the Sig dovetail is close in size to the Glock dovetail, so I adapted a Glock rear sight. It's a bit too high, but I'm getting good results if I aim just a bit below the bulleye. I also found a #10 from aftermarket sight maker.
While we're on the topic of optic mounting, have you considered doing a review of the different mounting options? I've done so little work in this area that I have yet to form any opinions. Instead I'll quote from a blogger who goes by the name of DaBigBR on the Sig Forum. I know nothing about him, but who seems to offer a cogent argument on the subject.
"Smith and Wesson ships their guns with plastic plates. The guns have screw holes for essentially everything they support in the slide itself and the plates essentially index the optic in the cut and provide some recoil support with plastic bosses.
"Theoretically, there probably isn't anything wrong with it. C&H actually makes a polymer Glock MOS plate, but it's a much tougher polymer than I've seen in the S&W plates and uses metal T nuts (irrelevant on the S&W). The plates from S&W are pretty flimsy and on my one S&W CORE gun, I bought a metal plate from C&H.
"When I evaluate an optic mount, one of the things that is important to me is how the plate fits into the optic cut. This gets into materials and process.
"A machined plate is the gold standard. Cast plates (like Glock factory MOS plates) generally are not very precise both in actual dimensions and in flatness. Injection molded plastic is similar, but generally more forgiving. You'll see the Glock cast plates snap because they're brittle.
"The injection molded plastic ones are more likely to conform, but the amount of support they provide is questionable. Softer plastics may allow you to over torque screws. Inaccurate molding may not make the plate flat (enough) and allow uneven support and torque and fatigue one screw over the other.
"Screws are just a terrible thing to put on a handgun slide. Look at every handgun slide you've ever seen...nothing is screwed in. The closest thing are set screws on sights (and Glock front sights), which generally recommend or require thread locker and are relatively low load. Screws on adjustable sights are also common, but are again fairly low load and have a detent system. Asking screws to hold an optic down is already a lot, and a poorly designed plate that does not adequately stabilize the optic body in the pocket puts a lot of stress on the screw shafts as the screw is now asked to hold the optic in place in two planes.
"So I guess the short answer on plastic plates, is that it depends. I think you can probably make a plate that is good enough, but honestly at $60 or $75, I'm probably going to just buy a quality, machined plate if it is available."
The plastic mounting plates I have (Canik and IWI) seem to work just fine.

After a long wait for Beretta to restock the promised magazines and optics plates options for the M9, the Beretta employee I spoke with when placing my order, did make an attempt to persuade me not to order the Trijicon plate that I requested.
Either they had low inventory of these plates or perhaps Trijicon is a concern for some unknown reason.

I would say, as an alternative to providing a multitude of optics plates, is to have the firearm cut for a certain optics pattern. At the very least, someone can walk in, buy the gun and then buy AN optic. Unless they want something different, at the very least, they can walk out with SOMETHING. You would think that since Beretta owns Burris, they would match up those optics for it.
I think the design Springfield Armory came up with for the Echelon is pretty good. I hope it (or something similar) catches on in the industry.
FYI. Walther supplies a free optic plate with their PDP series pistol.Go on their website, indicate the optic you intend to use and they will send you the appropriate plate free.I agree with you
concerning Beretta and having to purchase the plate.I own the APX A1 and it is an excellent pistol.I find the finish not as durable as the original APX model in my collection.

If Beretta would make a Centurion size frame (15 rounder) and keep the slide at 4” for this I would buy this today along with the Centurion size frame.

My issue with the Centurion/ /Compact has always been the barrel length.
I personally find 4” or longer barrels conceal better than the shorter barrels.
It’s similar to the M&P 3.6” compact. It doesn’t conceal as well in a holster made for it at least as the standard 4” compact.
Beretta should rename it to the Apex. Oh, and you're definitely correct about the rear sights, the blacked out rear is annoying.
Most people want a blacked out rear sight now. People have moved away from 3 dot.

A bit strange that the trigger pull is heavier than a Glock. In my opinion, the best trigger weight for a safe action pistol is 4.5 lbs.

There is a a difference in production costs between plastic and metal mounting plates. In the case of the Walther PDP, they will send ONE FREE mounting plate, after one fills out a form with the pistol's serial no. This means the pistol must be purchased first.
If a company's optics plates are plastic, their cost is pennies for an entire set of plates. Like you stated, if a pistol is optics capable, it should be assumed the owner will mount an optic. If the plates are metal, which makes absolutely no sense considering it's location far away from the source of heat in the front, the cost for an entire set of them may be a consideration. A smart company can ship the plates to their dealers, and the customer may decide at the time of purchase. Done deal, with a pistol, optic and the proper plate in hand. So civilized.

I don't like when the plates aren't in the case either. The reason that is often mentioned is that one is used 4-5 produced with each case, make 50k cases makes 200k-250k machined plates. If that is more economic with the shipping of the plates is another question. If they make money from selling them depends on the company. I think Walther also asks to order them but at least the plate is free. With Canik you don't pay for the plates but extra for a basic black finish instead of the gawdy gold parts. Using multiple plates is mostly a reviewer issue when most have an optic in mind and all the others stay in the case. It's still great when choosing a different rds years later or for resale. The old Apx looked better to me as well. For an Italian company it's downright boring. Lots of duty handguns out there and bland meant reliable but now on has to stick out a bit. Maybe I'm wrong and that's how they can get military contracts easily while they still got more lookers. The coating doesn't look that uniform at the logo and the slide release looks a bit lost. I've seen some Taurus snubbies that catch skin behind the trigger. Thx for the review. What ammo did you use for the loaded weight?

Walther is the same way at least they give you a plate for free. Canik seems to be the only true optic ready package.
That’s the thing. Companies like Canik and IWI provide a selection of mounting plates and still seek there pistols at a reasonable price. Other companies like CZ and Beretta COULD do the same thing, but they choose not to.

It’s a 400 dollar gun you usually get a average trigger for that price range . The biggest problem I have with Beretta and sig is they don’t come with a owners manual.
Those manuals are becoming fewer and farther between. Everyone seems to be going to an on line version.

What I appreciate is the 15 round version so I can buy it in Illinois. I'm sick of seeing 17 rounds in guns. Like sick you want 2 more bullets and alienate the people who live in shit weapon ban states. I bounced between Smith n Wesson and Sig guns but I might grab this. The price is right and you get that Beretta reputation. It looks awesome too. Really love the m9 too but I want a more carry friendly gun at the same time

I hate this pistol , I had issues and Beretta took it Bach for repair. 3 months to get it back and not all issues were addressed. I wonder if you could do a review of companies with good or bad customer service in the future.

That would be really hard to do. So many times it varies from case to case, and firearm to firearm.
I understand your gripe, but not everyone wants an optic, and they have a 2023 rebate for $100 that is more than enough to cover a mounting plate, although inconvenient. its not a need.

Beretta really needs to stop making their dovetail sight cuts in the slide proprietary. Aftermarket sights are limited at best because of this.
No optic plates and even if they did provide them, you'd still have to buy new sights because they aren't suppressor height which then wont allow you to co witness your sight picture. If you optics fail, your factory sight become worthless.
I noticed your Masada being brought into the video, my issue with it is that it came into the U.S. market with one of its biggest selling points being it's price and "modularity" in 2017. Here we are almost 6 years later and neither I.W.I nor ANYONE else has made a SINGLE grip module for it to my knowledge. So much for "modularity".
There's something to be said for a standardized dovetail throughout the industry. I doubt, however, will ever see that.
