I would hate on Cal if he didn't give him any chances, but the good guys should give the bad guys the chance to find redemption, even if it leads to the good guys demise, it is what defines us.
Cal also has a big heart and is selfless. So even if he falls, I doubt he would be consumed or blinded by the dark side. It’s is a shadow cast over the heart and mind but it has its uses, like the emotions that fuel it, it can be controlled just as anyone can control themselves.

I will make a bold claim: Cal using the Dark Side is not a sign that he will fall like Anakin. Cal using the dark side against Bod was out of self defense. As players, we have the benefit of knowing what happens if he does not use it. Maybe there was another way, but at that moment all options other than using the Dark Side were exhausted. In the end, Cal knows that he is on a slippery slope, that he could very well fall. But as Cere told him: She felt the pull of the dark side everyday, and it was a struggle she had to endure to the end of her days. But in the end she overcame it. Like Cere, Cal has to battle the pull of the dark side. And in the end I believe he will overcome it, and come out stronger than he is now.
I feel like that might've been rather inevitable from the moment his signature force ability turned out to be Force Slow in old Legends material that was always a Dark Side power even in new Disney Canon the only person besides Cal to ever be shown using it was Kylo Ren, a Dark Side user and I feel like it's fairly undeniable that the first time (chronologically speaking) Cal is shown using it is definitely done out of emotion also it feels a little odd that they keep on giving us access to red lightsabers but locking them out of the main story, leaving them as a non-canon new-game+ thing. perhaps they're doing this because they plan for Cal to end up getting a red lightsaber as part of the story eventually (which obviously wouldn't work if we'd had normal access to red lightsabers during the stories of the first 2 games).
It’s a nice take of watching it play out being unsure if it’s really going to corrupt him or he keeps it in check and it’s just a survivalist moment of calling for strength.
