  • CP 7022 is a specially painted locomotive, honoring both the US Navy, and Royal Canadian Navy. This is one of FIVE special units Canadian Pacific painted to spread military pride across its system.
We'll start off near Saint Paul Yard, at Division St, with CP 7022 leading train 243. After seeing it blast off at Division St, we'll watch it scream up Soo Jct, and meet a BNSF train along the way. After this, we'll pace it with the drone near Cardigan, and see it one last time in Plymouth. This locomotive is a VERY classy tribute by the railroad.

Love the shot of the train snaking around the curves over the highway

Glad you liked it! Its one of those shots where clouds are helpful; otherwise on a sunny day, the shadows would make it not work. Thanks for watching!

Very nice catch and chase. I just love that drone shot of the train traversing I694 and cardigan junction. I do have to admit that 6644 is my favorite military unit out of the five.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the kind words! The spot at 694 is perfect for a drone. Imagine getting two CP military units together someday.

That 694 shot was incredible! I haven't seen a shot there from the drone until now, I always wondered how it'd look from up there. Great chase!

Thank you for the kind words! I have been wanting to get a shot there for a while, and thanks to the clouds, it worked! A snow shot is in the plans....but this winter has been so mild.

Nice video there. Say, I was out railfanning the midway sub the other day and I just want to make sure it’s safe to railfan there. More specifically the area by the st. Anthony community garden where the MNNR yard just north. Is it safe there or will you be kicked out?

Thank you for the kind words! What part are you talking about? Raymond Ave is ok, and is the U of M Transitway. The gardens are a good place, IF its open. Its a shoot and scoot sorta spot. Hope this helps.

@@SD457500 thanks for the quick response. Sorry if I was vague. I’m talking more specifically the area behind the gardens and between the tracks - not the road. Or any area from the east side of the garden to the little lot that’s off of Robbins st? Do you know if that is all private property? Hope this helps, thanks!

That is owned by the Minnesota Commercial/BNSF, and I wouldn't stay there. To be safe, Raymond Ave or the U of M Transitway are your best bets. Hope it helps!

@@SD457500 thanks so much, really appreciate the feedback. Just 2 more questions: I am assuming Rollins Ave (just west of there) is an ok spot since I’ve seen many videos and photos from that location? Also would you happen to know what times you can expect the MNNR belt job & and Hugo job to leave the yard in the morning? I know it must depend on BNSF traffic but I was just curious.

Rollins is generally fine, and it has a nice overpass to shoot off of. Just be careful there around night; the park over there can be interesting at night. I believe The Belt Job goes to work everyday around 0700, and typically heads up about an hour or two later. Hope this helps!
