Don’t sell yourself short with that “I’m not much of a woodworker” comment you made. I have seen you do some amazing things with wood and joints over the years. That greenhouse, to me, is an amazing bit of woodworking engineering. I love watching anything you do around that property. Keep it up sir!

Time management! Kris, you have that rare ability to know your limits. Even you are not (quite!) superhuman. You knew you could produce fully morticed windows, which would have made the armchair woodworkers salivate, BUT you also knew you could get a super result quickly, using brackets made by the new plasma cutter. Many things might be possible, but you can see what is do-able for your world, your timescale, your budget and your energy. No wonder, you're celebrating!

That cheesy smile in the drone footage at the end was great. You seem bashful for filming yourself. You did a great job on this building and should be proud you've come this far on your property. You've done more work in the last few years on your property than most humans will do in their entire lives.

I gave up using UV filters to protect a lens as they became micro scratched much more easily than the lenses did, but I do keep a lens hood attached to protect from knocks. Having said that, I don't use a plasma cutter.

Wow Kris...simply OUTSTANDING!!! That has to be incredibly satisfying to have gotten all those windows in; and done such a beautiful job of it too. I'm blown away by what you've achieved on this project, one remarkable step at a time. Each sub-project of this entire build has been a huge project in itself, and you've taken each one on with so much thought and creativity, marching towards your dream and goal. I'm truly in awe of what you've created there.
Although there are just too many things to love about what you've created to list, one of the things I'm the most proud and in awe of is that you've basically done it all with natural materials off your own land or relatively close by other than the bags, glass, plexiglass, electrical wire, a small bit of concrete and fasteners. I doubt you could fill a single large bin with any non-recyclable trash from the entire build! You've designed it all of course, harvested and milled all the wood with a mill you made yourself, harvested and split all the shingles by hand, made your own lyme, used the soil on the site to build all the walls and stone for various parts as well, AND done it all with power you've harvested from Nature with your homemade wind turbine and micro hydro plant! Truly remarkable...
I'd be curious to know the total cost of the project (the building itself separate from the tools you've added in, but those as well) as I'd imagine you've spent less than a fraction of what it would've cost to hire it all done with standard building materials and a fraction of what it would cost to buy a shop with everything you have in yours off the shelf. It just shows what someone can accomplish with their own two hands, and a TON of hard work of course.
These are ALL things I too have dreamed of doing on our land, yet dreaming is not doing. Doing is doing, and you've done it! I know there are "a million little jobs left to do," but honestly you're in the home stretch and the place is a highly functional piece of art designed to your exact needs and specifications. Those windows are just gorgeous, and all that light flooding into the shop now has transformed it. You should be immensely proud of yourself. I greatly admire all you've accomplished. You're an inspiration to my husband and I as we embark on building our own homestead along the same lines. Congratulations and much respect!
PS - We may be in the market for a microhydro turbine once you get your operation up and running. : - D

I just finished watching all 78 chapters of your amazing journey to the ideal workshop, and will continue to tune-in for more of your adventures in the future. As a retired high school technology teacher who specialized in energy and power tech systems (who along with an enthusiastic bunch of students took-on the challenge of renewable energy design and constructions in the early 1970s), I am appreciative of your ability to build your own wind and hydro-electric equipment. As you know, there's more to it then bolting wooden (wind turbine) blades to a generator and have the thing produce power. Keep up the fine work!

You have built an architectural masterpiece in the sense of the woodworker mastering his trade. - not to mention all the other trades you are currently mastering! - nice to see your satisfaction at the work of your own hands. It indicates that you are constantly monitoring your work and measuring it against your internal standards. A master is not a competitor - unless it is against him/herself. He is a leader, mostly a learner, mostly an apprentice!

Great set of videos Kris. By far the best content on UA-cam in my opinion. Proper, genuine, unsponsored, skilled and living the dream.

Stunned by the quality of the light in the upper workshop, I sort of got used to the hoarding being up so it's nice to see one other job done. Also been enjoying the variety of content lately, it's been great to see the hydro work developing!

I just watched this entire Playlist (including that one episode you forgot to add to this list) start to finish. Absolutely humbling to see everything you poured into this project, Kris. Congratulations.

Seeing your progress has been a great inspiration. So much that I just got my own land to begin trying to carve out a bit of a homestead too.
