Your weathering is dope!!! But if possible maybe try a short advanced tutorial series where you go over things like washes, filters, shading, Etc. There are a lot of tutorials online on how to do it but none actually break it down to where a beginner will know what it is, what it means, what it does, how it works. I feel like if anyone would be able to break it down to where beginners like myself can really understand even part of the process you would be the one to do it. Thank You! (I grew up on Gundam and recently gotten into gunpla in the past couple years. I have RGx3 HGx4 and 1 master grade. I started painting a while ago hand/spray but i want to get into airbrushing. I started doing a little custom work on my mg zaku2 and it came out great in my opinion....... sorry i ramble lol)
After watching the channel for a couple weeks now I’m actually about to start my first gundam today. I really enjoy your content and find it really helpful, so ya thanks dude!
Looks good. I love the graze. Its.a great design, unique, lot of possibilities for more and custom paint. I've gotta check out those paints. Cool that they work with so many different products.
I would've made the shield handle grey, but to each their own. The eggshell white with the drab colors works well, especially with that orange stripe. Quite nice.
the key to weathering is to erratic because real damage is not uniform unless its two parts that frequently hit each other. less is more also imho but, I think you did an amazing job for sure!
Awesome work your videos are an inspiration. Your weathering is great. I feel like I like the results of your weathering better than my sponge weathering.
I'm also pretty happy with how this kit came out. Looks really nice in the colors that you picked out for it. Really hope to see more IBO customs from you.
It does look good, but I've found that part of refining weathering skill is that less is more. I mean that both in a lighter touch to weathering (less paint, smaller marks), and just fewer markings overall. Dry brushing is also something that can go a long ways to making an area look like it has a lot of smaller marks, instead of large globs of chipping, or it can help a larger chip look like that area got hit with a lot of stuff around it (hence the large chip). Lastly, a way more involved way to do chipping and weathering is to actually damage the kit with nicks and ruffed surfaces to add the needed depth to chipped parts, though I definitely understand why most never go this far with it even if I do think its the best way to go (less is more applies here as well). I don't think this method takes too much extra time, but it can be daunting to take a dremel or a knife to a kit like that.
Great scheme. The colours remind me a lot of the Hyakuri, but a bit more realistic. Decal clusters look great as well. Hope we see more of those in the future.
Definitely dig the weathered look, heck your fireball hygogg is what got me into the hobby in the first place! I think on this one the density of decals on the back skirt is just a bit too high tbh. There aren't that many mechanical parts or details on there but a LOT of text about it.
I agree with doing clean builds instead of weathered ones, something about weathering my gunpla kits doesn’t sound appealing... Anyway, I enjoyed this custom graze build and I don’t have a problem with the gray decals on top of the orange actually
the only weathering I do on occasion is though pastels to create exhaust burn marks and aged grease stains, mostly because all my customs are based off video games or are Syd Mead levels of futuristic.
perhaps you could try a gunk wash next time for a form of weathering? If you wanna try it as an experiment at some point? Modelmaking Guru has a good gunk wash tutorial for gundams on his channel if your interested ^_^
I'm pretty new to gunpla, so what kits would you recommend? So far I've got the HGUC revive Gundam, 2 SDs (don't like them much), HGBC GN weapon pack and the Setsuna F Seiei Petit'gguy.
Rurush999 start with the hg line and just choose a kit that you like. Most of the hg kits post 2010 are no different then mg other then the size and some details
Actually, so many people ask, he has said quite a few times that he hates when people keep bringing it up. Likely why he no longer responds to such comments. It has been asked and answered to death, necro'ed, and repeated too many times now. He doesnt really like the legs, and doesnt know where to go from there. Plus other projects and constant video editing, make for little time to work on something like the Tristan. I would personally recommend that he just start with a new kit, and keep the series alive by demonstrating work on various trash kits.
He hes said it in livestreams and comments, so its understandable that many would not know, hence why so many still ask. So no need to apologize, but now you know.
I've gotta disagree with you on this man, I think the weathering looks on point! Maybe because it's your own work your being a little too harsh. Hopefully you'll keep working with it, because if looks this sick now....... Great job!
I personally prefer clean builds when it comes to giant fucking robots. Because in my mind, if you have the technology to build and program one of these, you would likely have its movement fluid enough that its not chipping its own paint just from moving. So in my mind, there would only ever be battle damage, subsequent fluid leaks and/or mechanical failure thereby resulting in part to part contact (only then resulting in edge chipping); and terrain interaction resulting in dust, mud, grass, tree branches, scrapes against buildings, and other environment specific details. But I tend to overthink everything...
this is one of those comments where i read the first part and roll my eyes like "here goes another hate comment" but then it's actually a compliment. thanks! lol
Looks kind of like cell shaded animation. Poster seems overall hesitant to put dirt and grime over his immaculate paint job. Maybe comes from a fear of the dirt layer affecting the color scheme in a negative way rather than enhancing it. Maybe, if fear is strong, then test out technic on some whatever parts. Be free from fear.... be freeeee.
very strangely worded, but thanks for the... I wanna say suggestion? As I said in the video I'm not really into weathering so that's why I wanted to keep it pretty minimal. Not saying it's "good" by any means, another reason why I probably just don't really care for it.
It was intended to be gunpla technic cheerleading mix in with a practical suggestion. Sorry it didn't come across that way. There was a compliment and something else but I deleted it because I wanted to keep the comment short. Anyway, I understand where you are coming from. By the way, I like your channel's overall informativeness and meticulousness. Good job. :)
@@ZakuAurelius true it does make sense I didn’t realize that I hindsight sorry if my tone also sounded bad but it looks great I can appreciate it a lot more when I understand now
I think it came out dope, the weathering is nice and subtle, love the color scheme

you're welcome!
What are you going to do?
I really love the designs that hit the sweet spot between utilitarian and flash, this is definitely one of those
I think this looks great!! Nice and smooth with great color choices even the grey numbers because they don’t “jump out” at you

I like how it came out, even the chipping it makes it look realistic

Love the paint job looking foward for more custom

Absolutely gorgeous paint job!

Love that paint scheme 👍
Pretty sick color scheme. I wanted to try something similar on the Ryusei. But i think i'll do it on my next build, the Full Metal Panic Arbalest.
I like the orange with the grey decals
Looks like an Armored Core on first look
forLogic5, IBO mobile suits have a very AC vibe in general, but with this paint job. Yeah it literally looks like it crawled out of an AC game.
Nice piece would love to watch more WIP videos!!
Very nice,I like frame colour it really suits the rest of the kit and the orange really makes it pop, cheers from Australia.
I like weathered builds too, but I lean towards the clean and pristine look more.
Love the end music
This came out amazing!!! Great job bro!!!
I really like the paint.

I like the grey n orange , it may be strenuous to look at in person. But on camera it looks good
Awesome as usual!
Ooh, it's a Graze Custom Custom Custom!
Graze Kai II Kai.
I feel like weathering is one-third paint skill, two-thirds happy accident.
Great scheme. The colours remind me a lot of the Hyakuri, but a bit more realistic. Decal clusters look great as well. Hope we see more of those in the future.
Love it, it really turned out great!
This looks awesome
Simple but effective, taking advantage of the old philosophy, less is more
That looks so good! Should make a diorama for it yeah?

Because of the color I'm getting a Titanfall vibe haha
i really like this ,it turned out very nice
Fuck that colour scheme expands dong
the paint chipping makes it look way better than when it was clean
“Weathering looks good when other people do it.”
Oh? Let me show you my attempts, that’ll change.
the only weathering I do on occasion is though pastels to create exhaust burn marks and aged grease stains, mostly because all my customs are based off video games or are Syd Mead levels of futuristic.
I'm very interested in a "enamel filters" tutorial right now. The results are great
omg yes! all i have are enamel paints :(
I second this.
How do you do an enamel filter? I'm curious too
Looks great. What is your next paint project?
i love that orange accent you gave him

Modelmaking Guru has a good gunk wash tutorial for gundams on his channel if your interested ^_^
sublime
I find the chipped armor design mixed with the decals looks rather odd imo, other than that it looks superb! Great job with the colour coordination!
I wish I had the disposable income to buy a kit like this from Zaku :(
I'm pretty new to gunpla, so what kits would you recommend? So far I've got the HGUC revive Gundam, 2 SDs (don't like them much), HGBC GN weapon pack and the Setsuna F Seiei Petit'gguy.

This is fine and all, but I wanna ask a question not many people asked nowadays.
Where's the Tristan trash to treasure?
It'll come out when it's ready. lol Not many people ask, because it should go without saying by now. There'll be updates when he decides to upload it.
Actually, so many people ask, he has said quite a few times that he hates when people keep bringing it up.

Otaku Oxide My bad. I only follow him on UA-cam. And if he said it in a video, then I don't remember it.
good things happen if you live long enough
He hes said it in livestreams and comments, so its understandable that many would not know, hence why so many still ask. So no need to apologize, but now you know.
i realy like this one , good work btw what did u use as finisher? regular topcoat?
Hanzou Rights yep Mr.Color flat clear

and yes, tree branches, I have never once seen a Gundam with a tree branch wedged in its ankle, but it should be a very common occurrence.
Look badass
Havent watched yet, pretty sure its Ryusei-Go
What are you on about? your weathering looks great!

IT'S USING A GRENADE LAUNCHEEEERRR
Reminds me of the Racing Grimgerde. :)
Zaku do you think we can expect a Calamity War series?
Nope
SOLID
Reminds me of armoured core
That is one sexy looking machine, great work!
Dunno why but it really bugs me that you got the shield upside down lol
Graze Custom High Mobility Demolitions-Type, "Desert Firecracker"
Nice
How'd you paint the frame so its not scraching?
Because everytime i paint my frame it always scraching even from a little movement
Vir5901 just don’t move it much
ZakuAurelius hmmm so you're not supposed to move it
Thanks.....
Thats was a great colour scheme and chipping btw
wow, one day i will be this good too >_
that's one buttery smooth outtro music my dude, where's the sauce
"in a little bit different colors"
is actually completely different colors
Customized gazed custom
cool
Is this some sort of graze?
Ryuusei-Go is just a nickname used by its pilot. It's real name is Graze Kai II.
All is good except for the gun, idk it looks like meh compared to body.
Looks kind of like cell shaded animation.

RIP Tristan Trash to Trash :'(
i am annoyed that he didn't weather the gun cause its sticks out like a sore thumb
I was going for a realistic idea that the suit has been in use and gotten some weathering but it’s a newly issued weapon. Makes sense that way, yeah?
@@ZakuAurelius true it does make sense I didn’t realize that I hindsight sorry if my tone also sounded bad but it looks great I can appreciate it a lot more when I understand now
I suffer from the opposite problem... I can't make a clean build to save my life...
Yeah after watching the last video i tried the toothpick method and ruined a kit... might just respray the parts
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY LIKE!... I am poor.
it's ok to say that it's pink man, it ain't no bright red lmao.
