    It depends on each amp! In general, AT 5 is more for detailed tones...

    4 sounds warmer, more organic and natural. 5 sounds like it has too much mid range. Perhaps it’s just how he has his signal chain setup?

      I just think 4 has some compression and processing baked into the tones so sound more produced. 5 sounds more like a recorded amp, you can then add your own compression in the mixing

    Not sure what people are hearing here, honestly. I've always found AT (up until now) to sound great, but also with a lot of added artificial high end I never asked for. Many people have pointed this out in comparisons in the past between AT4 and other amp sims. But AT5 is a COMPLETELY different ballgame. I don't know what kind of sorcery they did but these amps both sound and FEEL like the real thing. And all that artificial baked in high end is gone too which is great. As far as my ears can tell, these are real amps. especially when you throw in a little bit of room ambience too. pair this up with a good FRFR Cab, a footswitch midi controller, and I really don't think you'll need to buy a new amp anytime soon. IK are really meticulous about their craft. They didn't just update the amps, they updated the pedals, the cabs, the speakers, mics, EVERYTHING. Name me one amp sim developer that has gone to such lengths as IK has. Native Instruments didn't even bother updating their amps, they just added some new effects and kept everything else the same save for the look of the UI and 3 new amps that are good, but get ruined once you add pedals relying on decades old modeling tech.

      Did you ever have trouble with crunchy tones? Like, just breaking up a little bit. A lot of them time, if I hit a chord or a note, I can hear the breakup - that little bit of distortion, but it stops abruptly in a really unnatural way.
      Not sure if that makes any sense... And I've still gotten some nice crunchy tones. But that's never sounded quite right to me for most of the amps, when they're just breaking up.
      As for the artificial high end - The British Tube lead 1 at 7:53 in amplitube 4 - that's one of the main offenders imo. Is that the kind of thing you're talking about? It doesn't sound terrible in this video, but for me it tends to sound much worse lol.
      Anyway.... might be time for me upgrade finally.

    To me as a long time amplitube user this is a win win, 4 and 5 sound different but neither is better . Its subjective they perhaps excel in specific areas but rather just sound like two different setups or amps. This is great I think the modeling technology has come so far as to where it all sounds real . Thanks for the video. cheers

    I've been in the IK amp sim collections since A3. A4 was singularly unimpressive to me, although I did like the Red Pig Marshall tones. But Amplitube 5 is an entirely different beast. All of my previous collections work fine as well as custom patches from earlier versions, except now they need to be tweaked to reflect the quality of the new version. Amplitube Leslie is a lot of fun, being an old hippy. Just got in in IK's group buy, along with some collections for it, and it inspires me to play, which the earlier versions really didn't. I'd recommend it. It's very easy and straightforward to use, sounds and feels wayyy better than earlier versions. Basically, it is the first piece of software for which I feel I could I could happily write a review for.

    I'm really thinking about upgrading but then and I listened to this and other videos over and over. In AT4 I always do a pre EQ after my volume pedal and a post EQ in the rack section. I always get my sound how I want it to be and it sits perfectly in the mix.. It takes a while to dail it in perfectly for my guitars with several different pick-up combinations but once you know it ,it's a piece of cake. Oke the GUI on the AT5 is better, their own amps sounded more natural to me straight out of the box. Is it worth 300 euros for upgrading....? I'm not sure yet...

    • @465marko
      @465marko 2 роки тому

      It might be a little bit cheaper at the moment - I'm not sure exactly how it works, tbh. But I just checked in and it was 200 Euro. It's still not nuthin though lol I'm not sure.
      Just about everything At5 sounded better to me in this video; more realistic and present. Some of the AT4 tones were maybe "nicer" - creamier or whatever, but less realistic or something. Or maybe it's just because I'm so familiar with them at this point that any change sounds better.

    I like my A4 and the messed up part is that I cannot buy additional amps or pedals, it forced me to upgrade my Shop to 5 and A5 Shop does not allow you to buy anything for the A4 format! REALLY FKED UP! Then they ask 99 to crossgrade to A5? Nah! Amplitube really disappointed me with this because I also use Sample Tank/Syntronic and bought lots of their plug ins so now I'm not sure if I want to continue with these upgrades! Its really fkd up! I bought tons of Track plugs ins and use them on my Logic Pro X chain to configure my amp sounds. The review given here made A5 sound brittle, A4 sounded fuller. Its typical software upgrade, like Apple! I bought tons of their old programs and now you cannot even use them unless you upgade to a latest version! Forcing me to not be able to buy plug ins unless I have the A5 version is what pisses me off the most and at 99 bucks for the full version? Its like you depend on their gear and suddenly its the upgrade/crossgrade money game to stick it to you. Good ol Capitalism huh?

    • @clembuckleyguitar
      @clembuckleyguitar  2 роки тому

      It does in the sense that's its more processed so it's fuller sounding.
      5 is more natural sounding, more true to what an amp sounds like before adding eq and compression.
      So I think 5 is better as you can eq and compress to taste.
      4 is harder to mix in with a full band recording. You're trying to remove some of that processed sound.
      Also when playing through them 5 is way more natural feeling too.
      Obviously that can't be portrayed in a video.
      At the end of the day, both sound great 😊

      Yeah pretty much, just you're starting off from a better place in 5, 4 has some compression and processing baked into the tones so sound more produced, for my ear anyway. At least with 5 you have a better starting point to dial in the tone better. 5 feels better to play too, more like having an amp in the room

    • @clembuckleyguitar
      @clembuckleyguitar  3 роки тому +8

      I can see how you would say that.
      I think that 4 sound more like a recorded amp, compression added and a mixed.
      5 seems to be more 'raw' so I feel it will be easier to mix in with a full track.
      I might put up another video, adding a compresser to the end of the sinal chain. That will get to that final mix sound you'd hear on a track.
      So you're totally right 4 sound more like a final track would, but 5 to me sounds more like an amp would mic'ed up with no processing. So more true to life. Also it's imposibe to get across in a video, it feels more amp like, better dynamics and feel that 4.
      I've been using 4 for years and love it. Have it on loads of tracks, I won't be going back and replacing the tracks with 5. 4 sounds great on them.
