OK to make it make sense like I comment on the other video you guys did I said that things will be different because Liu kang restarted the timeline and made it different and better (in his eyes) so there is alot characters that are going to be different gender and all, as for why cyrax is Nigerian the lin kuie take in orphans from different countries, the bios is on the website
Growing up all I have ever seen is Asians & Caucasians playing the ninja role. So to see cyrex being an African Ninja is a great change up for me. I can care less about the gender change. WE NEED MORE BLACK FOLKs AS NINJAS!!!! LET'S FUCKIN GO!!!!!!
Cyrax was always black. Being a generic female was not a part of it. He's a black cyborg ninja from Botswana. No need to change. I don't feel represented in any video game because that's such a weird thing to even think, much less say. I can't relate to any of these characters and neither can anyone else. It's a video game.
@@alexwilliams4337 If you look it up there's a higher percentage of Caucasians and Asians as the main character in video games. So I apologize for getting a little excited to see some brothers and sisters as as leads or being something I RARELY see them play as.
It's simple. Gender and race swaps are insulting. It's insulting to the one being swapped out but also to the one being swapped in. It's also lazy. It's the person doing the swap saying "You aren't worth a character of your own, and you aren't worth the effort of creating one." Hell it doesn't even have to be an actual swap, it can be a tone swap. Like the new Static Shock. I loved the original, still watch it on Max. I got my girl into it, she's white, and she's loving it. But this new Static idea they have, to change the cause of his powers....to vilify the police just because in modern day it's "cool" to hate the police..... it's insulting. Same for Fresh Price of Bel Air. I watched the Will and his father scene in the original show...and it leaves me in tears. In the new Bel Air? It's "fuck" this and "fuck" that, "n***a" this and "n***a" that.... it's again insulting. You want to make a female character? Then make one. It's not hard, it's not like they don't exist. People like pretending that there's no strong female characters, and any that do exist only exist in modern times.... it's insulting to all of the media that came before. They're out there, if these people who complain about representation are too lazy to find them, that's on them.
I feel it nothing wrong with representation. You want to make everyone happy which is fine. But it the way they do it at times is where they missed the mark. Like for this one. For me a female black cyborg warrior is cool and nice. But when the character is once a man and they change it to a woman or if the person was a different race but the backstory of the character is the same of the original it becomes lazy. I feel like some companies needs to stop being lazy and use their creative imagination and create new characters that can standout. And give them a great backstory is all they need to do because if the character is interesting and can keep the audience attention. The fans are gonna love it. The problem with Mortal kombat writers is they're not bad. They have good ideas but the execution is where they fail at like in the story we have the Dragon King Army but no Dragon King Onaga. Great video Tee and Tasha and I hope the rest of you two day is enjoyable.
I don't care for the gender swap but I'm also not a Sektor/Cyrax diehard. I do think Cyrax's accent is a bit too heavy and the voice doesn't match her face. It's the same as giving Sektor a heavy japanese accent complete with broken English. It just doesn't come off as genuine.
Because japanese have broken english? + they won’t give it to sektor because the 'african' accent sounds better and is more commerciable, the accent matches her face and about 2 words of what she said you can tell ok maybe it is an actor but her speech mostly sounds genuine
Personally I like it I think something people STILL don’t understand and I don’t know how tbh but it’s a whole new universe things are different and people gonna have to get over it eventually
We're familiar with Sweet Baby. There's no excuse why they can't design their black characters better with a fitting storyline that makes sense, even for a fantasy game such as Mortal Kombat.
I didn't see any backlash when Street Fighter 6 introduced Kimberly or Lily, one thing that bothers me with western companies is that when they want to add "diverse" characters, a lot of times they go for the most bland look instead of making them cool looking, beautiful or both.
I guess by comparison, there's not a lot of female fighters on the roster and that's why they decided to make both Cyrax and Sektor females in this one. Leaving the male versions to be Kameo characters. I actually don't mind that, I enjoy MK doing things differently. If it wasn't for different, we never would have gotten Fire God Liu Kang. So I'm sure people will grow to accept this. At least their not bad voice actresses 🤷🏾♂️😂😂
Here's a novel idea for the people always complaining about "representation": Stop seeking constant validation from society to just be yourself. I'm Middle Eastern. Never in the history of ever did I have the thought cross my mind of "Man, I sure wish there were more Middle Eastern characters in this game/movie so that I can relate"! Everyone is just a bunch of softies nowadays.
This is how I feel about all media! I've never needed to see "myself" represented to relate to a character. I always used my imagination if I wanted to be a character that I liked growing up. People don't want to use they imagination anymore. They wanna see it for real 🤷♂
All this modern day representation and inclusion are all disingenuous and inorganic....Current Mortal Kombat has and continues to fall off. Best reboot was MK9, HANDS DOWN!!!!
I appreciate that NRS is willing to experiment with their characters. While it may not land with every character, at least it doesn't feel like it's stuck trying to pander to the old fans by keeping the designs the same for decades like other fighting games. Some people like it, some don't, but at least they're trying to make something new.
@TNTGamingonline it all comes to intent. If this is for the sake of forced representation then yeah, it's bad. But if it's more of a "Why not? Let's try it for funsies" situation then yeah, why not? It also could be a case of diversity, not representation. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only female member of ninja clans in mk is Frost. Why not make more? Not for the sake of pandering but for the sake of it not being as stale. I personally prefer more diversity because... why not? Of course, I don't think we'll learn the intent behind it.
This is the first Mortal Kombat game I didn't buy, and I don't regret my decision one bit.

Sweet Baby Inc’s forced diversity , google it. Why not make an original DEI character 😭

@@TNTGamingonline I loved your point about Jacqui Briggs because if they can make Sub Zero Lin Kuei, they can make her Tekunin

I agree. For some reason western studios have a problem designing "cool" looking black characters. Riot games does a great job with it though.
