I'm not a Japanese or a blind fanboy of Japan. However, I can say that I've used various consumer products from all over the world in my life, and I'm a firm believer of Japan's manufacturing quality and craftsmanship. Everybody knows that the Chinese are the best in table tennis in terms of their playing abilities, but when it comes to the quality of research, development and manufacturing, Japan still far exceeds China by quite a long shot. Of course, the most important element in table tennis is the player's skills, which should be able to compensate for the shortcomings of the slightly inferior equipment, but I would definitely choose the Butterfly products made in Japan if I played professionally because I would be seeking the most dependable equipment I could find.

Same here. Given our history during world war 2 i should be bias toward evrrything about them but i cant deny that japanese quality and intricate workmanship are 2nd to none, they carry their discipline not only to themselves but to everything they do.

I have about 100 table tennis blades, from all ranges, 30 dollar to 250 dollars.
Many butterfly blades too, and I wouldn't say, that butterfly has unmatched quality at all.
Donic, Andro, Tibhar, Stiga, victas, xiom, sanwei, sword, DHS etc. all those brands have also exceptional quality.
I've seen butterfly blades getting their wood chipped of the surface 😮, after changing rubbers and there was no aggressive glue used, but a thin voc free glue.
Butterfly has the most expensive blades, they are good, but hell, please, I can state by facts that butterfly blades are not the best, just ok - good - very good, but still highly overrated.
      What I would recommend,
      Tibhar Samsonov all wood,
      the mentioned Victas koki niwa,
      Andro Ligna,
and I could prolong this list.

I have found that the Juic Alpha has the best combination of Speed and Control. I still have three of the original Bengstan models. They are slightly better than newer models.
The Blade is definitely 80% of the Bat. You are definitely the best coach on the internet. I have been following you for about four years and I'm comparing you to at least 20 content providers for coaching.

Too Much Butterfly in the list, No Yinhe Xiom and Joola for instance... Yinhe Qiu Yike, Xiom icecream or ALXI or Joola Zhou Qihao to name a few... I think this is a very personal list and i agree that the blade is the soul off the bat and a very personal thing ... my personal advice : don't look at the brand but look how the blade is configured (the composition)... how many layers and what kind of wood veneers are used . Carbon layers or not and where situated , more to the core or more to the outer side. The weight and how its situated (headheavy or not) and what feel are you looking for.. The most expensive aren't neccessary the best... You can find a innerforce like blade for half the butterfly price or even cheaper if you make it yourself ( no rocketscience)

I use a Xiom Icecream Azxi with Omega 7 euro on Bh and Omega 7 pro on FH and its a unique blade that players sleep on, it has ALC in one side and ZLC on the other side and it gives you a huge versatility between passive and aggressive strokes due to its composition, I recommend this blade with my eyes closed, but I am switching to a All-wood blade like cybershape wood or petr korbel because my game lacks of feeling and control, thanks for the great video Coach, greetings from Panama!

I´m using the stiga cybershape carbon. Actually I bought this blade just because I like to be a little bit extraordinary, but it improved my shots a lot. Amazing control und speed, probably due to the bigger sweat spot. The only thing being tricky is the balance of grip and head of the blade. I don´t know if the new cybershape with differents weights for the grip will do better in this specific problem. Maybe someone can test this in a new video? ;)

Right now I'm trying Xiom Icecream AZXi. I really like it. FH plays similar to Long 5 but BH feels very different. It's a blade that has 2 different carbons on each side

Is one side faster than the other?

@@apanzerze6092 One side uses ALC carbon (usually FH), the other uses ZLC (usually BH). The characteristics are different. Normally, ZLC is a harder and thus faster carbon. Xiom decided to make the ALC layer thicker for this blade to compensate this. They describe it as "ALC = spin + power" and "ZLC = spin + control". Basically ZLC is much easier for blocking, pushing, flicking but is not as powerful

@@apanzerze6092 I could also explain all the differences between ALC and ZLC, but it's a long explanation and it's best to just try it and find out for yourself if you like it (if you can of course)
