Because the point of Gabi’s character was to illustrate one of the main themes of AoT - the injustice of forcing one’s beliefs onto one’s children. Grisha’s treatment of Zeke being another major example of it.

As i know, it's a traumatized man killed himself because the thunder reminded him of a war zone
fuck man, I knew it was a PTSD soldier but I didn't make the connection with the thunder in that scene. Awful
It's a scene to display the trauma of war and to set up the next episode with Reiner. It's one of those things set in the background to add depth to the story. As the viewer, it's telling us we aren't necessarily watching the truth unfold, there's things happening underneath the facade of normalcy the characters are presenting to us and is to let us know the characters are suffering underneath what they are presenting to us.

Fun fact: in the manga the cart titan looked very different as the original holder of the cart titan was meant to be a man called oliver pieck, but it was changed to the woman pieck finger, which is one of the best things to happen lol
The funny thing here is that the “good” eldians truly believe that the people of paradis are evil, but honestly can they really differentiated from marleys perspective? No such thing as good or bad, marley feed them propaganda to make use of them.
In wars no one is good or bad... There are just people above who puppets the troops .... And those troops on either sides are good in their own perspectives and consider others evils...
It's just like Kruger said: "There is no truth in this word. Anyone can be a god or a devil, all that it takes is for people to believe it"
That Oliver Pieck design was used in S3E13. The sleeping titan...
it wasnt just marley and their propaganda. Tybur family and other eldians are working together with marleyans, and also civilian marleyans are bitter, jealous angry towards the ones who left them also. its so much more complicated than that
The good eldians are like the ``good slaves`` back in the day who were allowed to live in the slave master house and treated other slaves like subhumans. Its bootlicking the oppressor. Its pathetic and happens all the time in real life. Just look at all the women and minorities voting for republicans... republicans want women and minorities with no rights or dead or deported or be treated like slaves, yet they keep voting for them. Simping for the people who want to murder you is pathetic AF.
The part where Reiner talks about the island devils to his family is one of my favorite non action parts of the season
I love the directing of that monologue scene. The tracking shot getting closer to Reiner as the music swells up until the window opens. It’s very well done
Reiner turned out to be my favorite character in this new season. My god, the way he described the "hell" looked like a good old day at the farm with your cousins. Literally could not make up real bad things because before he betrayed them, they were normal people towards him. Hell, even Cony wanted to talk first before attacking him back in s2. How Armin wanted to negotiate or talk with Berthold in s3.
I went from hate to love with his character arc lol.
Because he was taught by marley that they are all evil and deceitful creatures since birth, but found out that was all rubbish. There were no devils on paradis, just people. But marley dont care and treat all eldians the same: as tools for war, essentially becoming the very thing they hate, absolute hypocrites

The titan powers look different per user, which is why the face of the jaw titan looks different from Ymir's jaw titan. There's slight variations from user to user, but the power remains the same
I adore Pieck. Everything about her is cute and tragic that shes forced into this life. Pieck deserves all the good things the universe has to offer.

Seeing Zeke being greeted by his grandparents... they can't imagine what he's done. And when he comes home to them he's just their grandkid. And Reiner with his mom and family. He did a genocide but he still has a mom.
This anime is the only one that takes me from being interested in fantasy world first, to understanding the nature of war in the end

I really loved the scene with Reiner talking about the "Island Devils." He was caught between wanting to discourage his family from going there and not wanting to lie to them, so he had to pull up whatever came to mind and somehow make it work, even though it fell short.

The reason why reiner's mom really hated the eldians is bcuz half of her family went to the paradis island 100 years ago.. and her family was left behind in marley somehow.. if you remember the very first episode of season 1 .. where eren was excited to see the scouts coming back and then there's a scene where a mother asks if her son "moses" made it back alive and the commander gives her her son's arm which was all he could retrieve .. That "Moses" guy was a relative of reiner ..his Full name was moses braun and it's not mentioned in anime.. but he's even shown in the first episode's intro scene of scouts where we are shown erwin, and a seemingly brave guy looking like reiner (moses).. and even the moses mother looks pretty similar to reiner's mother
Another AoT easter egg I didn't know
It was just a mistake made by Isayama-Sensei. There is no relationship between Reiner Brown and Moses Brown. In the Manga, his name was just "Brown", but in the animation, his name is just "Moses".
I doubt the mom cares about the family leaving them. It's more just a century of propaganda and being told they're devils that makes her hate them. The sentiment is the same among most of the eldians in Marley. They believe the paradise eldians abandoned them.

What I love about season 4 is it proves that these it’s black and white (good vs bad) it’s all grey. Every person thinks they’re in the right

Its crazy how well these two can put things together. They understand correctly a lot of things people tend to miss or get confused by.
The thirteen year lifespan only activates after the first transformation. So even if you're born with it, wouldn't actually affect the carrier until the first transformation.

This sisters never failed me in every episode of AOT, I think this is the most heart warming reaction of this episode I've ever watch, I really like how they catch up to some important details at the first watch!
The reason why Ymir's Titan is different from others is because Ymir has been a Pure Titan for 60 years and therefore has not changed much except for sharp teeth and claws
Every one of the 9 looks unique from another, I think it's more a individuality thing.
@@cloud101787 i think its more of the fact that ymir wasnt a warrior. Porco is a warrior so looks much more combat appealing than ymirs jaw.
it's because she didn't train or prepare to inherit the titan. another example that's basically a pot hole in itself was Historia's older sister being a tiny, weak titan with the founder. every other royal blood/founder we've seen was huge.

No, that would mean Eren would still have 8-9 more years because he didn't transform until 5 years after he got it, but he's only got 3-4 left.

Yes, the telling thing about what Reiner said about the people in the island is that he was supposed to say they are terrible demons, and he said that, but the worst examples he came up with were just regular people doing regular people stuff. That is why his family was horrified.
Imagine a police officer who goes undercover for years to one of the worst, most violent gangs ever (supposed to be rapists and murderers), and when he comes back and people ask him what it was like he says "yes, they were monsters, one of them didn't give me my lighter back".
As this was not going to be explained explicitly in the anime, I'm just gonna say that blood relatives does have impact on the succesion of the titan, as the blood relations strengthen their memory link BUT the military don't really chose succesion based on blood ties, it's purely coincidental. Although the blood ties make it easier for the successor to get glimpes of the previous holder, it's still not a huge advantage in military sense.
This is still the show with the very very best foreshadowing I've ever seen, on par with Better call Saul and breaking bad, once you're done I recommend a rewatch, it's actually kinda insane JUST how much there is

13:31 No, the 9 titans mantain the same basic abilities when they pass from people to people, but the expression of the titan power might change a little based on who inherits it. So the same titan can have a slightly different appearance in different people. Their abilities may also change to some extent. Consider for example that the royal family is the only one who can make full use of the founding titan's powers. The same applies to the other titans to a lesser extent, some people will be able to use more of the power than others, but Marley has no way of determining who will be better for the job, so they just train eldians and pick the better soldier. They probably give some priority to family members of the people who proved they are good at using their titans, but only if the family member proves they are also a good soldier prior to getting the titan.
