REMASTER NOTES
-pitch correction. the original recording ran slightly too fast (most likely cause of incorrect tape speeds) and was actually a bit sharp
-declicked any nuisance clicks
-multiband compression -2 or -3 dB gain reduction @45Hz, 250Hz, high shelf @1kHz
-shortened stereo width
-second EQ to make bass more pronounced, as well as cutting out some harsh mids
-limiter
Master recordings are owned by and used by express permission of Donny Sarian.
Special thanks to Chris, Rob, and Donny for letting this stay up!

Track 4 has been in my head for like a month. I wish they were more noticed.
How do you know those are the song’s names?
@@ChristianVBlue3 The original owner of these recordings informed me of the song titles
@@Cameron5540 That’s awesome! I’d love to hear some more material from them if any more recordings exist
I wish there were more recordings of this band. It's amazing how they're able to all play melodies together timed perfectly
Chris Poland is simply amazing! I met him once when my band played a small club in LA in 1997 or 1998 and OHM played after us. I cleaned my gear from the stage, he came up and just said "nice playing dude" and I was like O M G MY HERO (since I was a teen in my German suburb with Megadeth posters all over the wall) - LIVE GOAL ACHIEVED hihihi :)
This is my favorite thrash album
gar is one of the best drummers ive heard in my life, RIP
@Papyzeff same!!
Gar, what a loss!!
19:19 now THAT’s Chris Poland
Damn, that's incredible.
How does Poland get his guitar to sound like a clarinet?
wtf man chris poland and gar samuelson are crazy! this is brilliant
You've done an amazing job on restoring these tapes I've had for nearly 45 years! It's a pleasure to have you do this. Thank you... Donny
This is so unbelievably good. Gar was so talented, he is a monster here. This sounds closer to Mahavishnu Orchestra than anything else I’ve ever heard.
gars timing, rhythm, feel, fluidity, speed, controlm is something else..
I wish there was a comprehensive course or tutorial on Chris Poland’s guitar playing. Otherworldly player
So true!
Gar is still the best drummer that ever drummed!!!
gAR IS FUCKING AMAZING
Neil is god
I wish i could play like Chris
Fuck he is class
I wish there was more out there talking about Gar, his biography, and his greatness. He’s not talked about enough.
There have been three drummers in thrash metal that were truly innovative and relevant at its primitive stage: Tom Hunting from Exodus, Dave Lombardo from Slayer, and Gar.
I think Gar and Chris were stifled from raising the bar for the genre. Only if they could have played at the level as heard here.
Yeah I don't know about him but he is a hero.
Those who do know about Gar give nothing but praise!
a drummer that never got his recognition
Gar was underated, even on Mustaine' s biography. He shortened most of the songs, and has a huge influence on Mustaine. I know that if he was still around he would be rejoined.
If you ever heard Billy Cobham..thats one of Gars idols, you can hear it in his playing here
Horn players are killing it too.
Some of the best fusion I've heard. They should have been as big as Return to Forever.
If the word "smoking" caught on fire ...it would not, be as hot as this is! ...every member on the bandstand is killing it!
Damn, Stew Samuelson is another monster guitarist! I’ve always wondered who gave guitar lessons to both Stew and Poland because they sound identical in certain points. Such a very unique and refreshing sound, makes me wanna come back for more!
Both are probably self taught, Stew seems to be playing rhythm more often then Chris. Both awesome guitarists
If you listen to old mahavishnu orchestra / john mclaughin you can hear the influence and how he developed that unique style
Hell yes. I still think killing is my business is one of the best metal albums ever. Now I know why it swings so hard! Many thanks for this gem.
this is the best thing that has ever been posted on the internet. holy shit.
I hear a lot of Santana influences peppered throughout these pieces. Gar is tight too.
First time i heard this, just wow!
They sould press this on vinyl! Its Awesome!
Poland is the best guitarist on planet Earth! Gar was a fantastic drummer as well
... the original road trip to Metalopolis....
This is sick. Is there more of this? I can't imagine the tapes are getting any better so I hope you never take this down, or at least someday we get a chance to buy this as a CD or something.
This is a gem!!!!
This is fucking amazing, they were kids!!
why do I have the most unbelievable urge to crush some Gran Turismo 4 right now?
Thanks Gar is one of my faves
amazing
A couple of these solos Poland just snaps. Great stuff
GAR IS INSANE!!!
This explains a lot 👍👍
Holy shit, this is great!
7:05 to 7:40 is my favorite part
Shit! The drums is so complex and always rolling.
I've been listening to your old upload of this for at least 8 months, and I pretty much flipped my shit when I saw this in my recommended. Now I gotta get used to the proper pitch lol
great atmosphere. so much to say.
Just in time for Christmas and New Year's!
Quite a bit of Zappa here. Even in some guitar licks.
Amazing christmas gift
WOW!!!
Buenisimo. Una bestia Gar
Been jamming the Killing is my business remaster lately & hearing this for the 1st time is pure awesomeness. Thanks for uploading this!
This is absolutely sick!
Damn they where playing so damn good even back then. Chris is like 22 here
Love it
22:17 This is why I came here for 🤘🏻
Sooooooo good.
Excellent merci
This really opened my eyes.
How old were they when they were playing this? Talking prodigies here... holy cow!!!
I know Gar was maybe around 21 or 22. Playing Jazz fusion that age is insane. Usually most Jazz fusion musicians aren’t that clean or developed until their 30s or so. There are some naturally gifted people that develop it early like Gar but normally it’s not that developing. It’s becoming wiser as you’re older. This man had 60 years of knowledge at 22.
@@Xtremecarfan10188 you said it man, insane. I always thought the first 2 Megadeth albums had something jazzy about them - years later I know why, Gar and Chris...
@@donnysarian wow! That's awesome. What a good musician he is, very level headed. I support him directly as much as I can. Living legend. So glad he is still among us... He really is up there with the Chick Koreas, Al did Meolas, Methents of this world
RIP Gar!
HOLY SHIT
Great stuff.
Mind-blowingly great!
Damn. Thank you 🙏🏾
I had been checking your original upload for the last couple years after I saw you mentioned remastering that recording. Nice to see it's complete
So this is the guys from Megadeth?
fuck yeah
This is amazing !,
Thanks man!!! I always wanned to see this remastered. Thanks a lot
Thank you so much for hte upload and thanks guys for being so cool. What a band
Lmao yesterday, I just listened to the first version you posted. Thanks for this remaster
3:55
One of my favorite parts, so groovy and funky
👍👍👍👍👍
Liked and subscribed! This sounds great i cant believe i never knew this existed until now!
great with lsd.
dope
Gold stuff man! This is very much Gar ! you make out his style from the way he holds a ride /snare groove .If only ooooh if only he did not do all the heroin.
Gar sounds so modern
Damn does that second song do three bars of 8 and then one of 6 during the B section
You mess up once it a mistake you mess up twice its jazz.
Does anybody know any other bands that sound like this? Mahavishnu Orchestra is the only other fusion band I’m at all familiar with and they don’t strike me as good as these guys do.
Return To Forever
Billy Cobhams solo album...by the way Gar loved Billy Cobham
go from there oh and Weather Report too..Radio Birdland is sick
FRANK Zappa
Soft Machine
Casiopea
Camel
FAR BETTER THAN PEACE SELLS!!!!!!!!!
El bombo es el bombo
Is Pag playing bass?
22:35
is this available in FLAC anywhere?
Grazie per la gentile condivisione
Questo live è strepitoso
Il bassista Robertino è davvero pauroso in questo live😮
i wonder what amp poland was using
i.imgur.com/vuLiJsO.jpg
picture I found on google images. looks like he's plugged into a fender head in the back. looks like the bass player had an acoustic bass amp, could be wrong though.
@@Cameron5540 hey man thanks, i thought the tone sounded fenderish. the bass player is the current bassist for chris poland's band OHM. also the musicianship is remarkable, its a shame they couldnt record an album of material. i suppose we can only dream.
Las bases de peace sell
This feels like one long MF Doom sample
=^|
I guess you don't get it lol
This sounds nothing like Doom lmfao
You're right my guy! MF Doom can definitely rap over this Jazz Fusion
DUDE WTF
Totally out classes Megadeth !
Sounds like Vinnie Moore
other way around
Peace sells… but who’s jazzing?
Sounds like a blend of Mahavishnu Orchestra, Brand X and Soft Machine or Gong with early Allan Holdsworth.
