Best Laser Printer & Copier for PC, Mac, iOS & Android?

- Today I unbox and test out the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw. This laser printer is Wi-Fi enabled. You can also print from the HP Smart app on your phone, as well as AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.
➡ Get it on Amazon: geni.us/U5pB
This HP printer is all-in-one, so you can print, scan, copy and fax all in the same place. Considering it has a flatbed and document feed tray scanner, it still remains fairly compact. All paper is kept inside the large paper tray at the front, as well as the toners.

Thanks for such a well educative video, as you've answered one of my question, hoping to own my self one soon
If there's any other questions, let me know. I've answered your comment from before 😃
Good review that mate,thanks
Thank you very much. You explain very well and showed everything I wanted to know, all the functions of the printer. I was wondering what printer to buy but now that you have explained everything, I already know. I thank you very much for this explanation a big hug.
You're welcome! I'm glad I could help 😀
You did a wonderful job here but you didn't do the fax function of the printer and that is actually what I was looking for assistance on.
The best and detailed video, now i can go and buy this printer Thank you so much
Man I love the music!
Thank you! Links should be in the description 😀
Thanks for the review.
I myself am looking at a cheaper model, HP M180n (could not find a cheaper alternative from other brands).
I'm curious about this dreadful message on HPs website for their M180n and M281fdw:
"Dynamic security enabled printer. Only intended to be used with cartridges using an HP original chip. Cartridges using a non-HP chip may not work, and those that work today may not work in the future."
Does it really mean that I won't be able to use third party cartridges or refills for M180n / M281fdw? It might mean HP will suck my money out, so their lower printer price is just a gimmick.
Also, how does this printer tolerate missing color cartridges? Can I still print black&white when I have empty or missing color cartridges?
Nice review. Thank you. I feel comfortable buying it now.
Thanks for detailed video. This is the best home printer
Do you know if it is able to OCR scans?
Nice review, but the antiquated glossy interface that looks like a Win amp skin is such a turn off
Thank you for the great review!
Can I put more papers into the feeder at once ?
Does it support double sided scanning?
had any problems with the printer since the posting of this video?
Thanks for such a well educative video, hoping to own my self one soon
Happy to help!
Great job mate, now I need to get myself one
Thanks for watching! Any update? 😀
HP "updated" the firmware in my printer so that now all generic ink cartridges won't work, which is supposed to be illegal, yet they do it anyway. I tried calling tech support, but they claim that they cannot reset my firmware to what it was when I bought the product and it worked. I hope they enjoy the temporary increase in revenue as I am now forced to by "HP Ink", but I swear to God that I will never buy another HP product for the rest of my life!
Can it do duplex scanning through the feeder?
I have this printer and like it very much EXCEPT after a firmware update that stopped me from using 3rd party toner refills. I'm on Tech support with HP and we'll see if they help me to downgrade my firmware or not. If you have this printer, buyer be ware. Turn auto-updates OFF so you don't get a bricked printer or spend 3 hours trying to downgrade your firmware.
That sucks! My Dell printer before was fussy with toner. I haven't tried anything but HP toner with mine so not sure
Printer stopped printing black after two years and less than 1000 pages printed. HP Tech support says the printer broken and offered to sell us a new printer at full price. We are now stuck with $300 of new toner cartridges and no printer. Avoid this printer.
I took a chance : I am awaiting delivery on the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 477 fdw
Product Code : FC379A or FC379A#BGJ
The HP Colour LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw with product code FC379A has a few more specs than the M281fdw model .
I particularly required the duplex scanning capability and duplex copying through the ADF which the HP MFP 477fdw offers
[ Automatic Document Feeder ( For your viewers knowledge ) ]
I researched a few Brands ( Makes ) and different MFP models and I figure that HP as a manufacturer leads the market in MFP's ( And " MFP " is stated differently in other makes like Brother etc )
The print quality of these HP MFP Laser Jet's seems good at 600*600dpi
And with up to 38400 x 600 enhanced dpi ( That can't be bad ! )
MODEL : HP LaserJet Pro MFP 477fdw with product code FC379A is essentially the same as the HP FC379A#BGJ , as I think they may well be the same model with different product codes , for which reason I am yet to establish
[ VERY IMPORTANT :
My advice is avoid the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 477 fnd ( Product code FC377A ) .
And also avoid the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 477 fnd ( Product code CF378A ) .
As the HP LaserJet Pro's MFP 477 fnd and fnw with product codes FC377A and CF378A respectively : BOTH FALL SHORT of the superior specs held by the HP fdw FC379A or HP FC379A#BGJ mode ! ! ! )

I suspect that the lifespan of these fairly low budget printers may well be anywhere from 1 - 4 yrs or longer ,
And I may take an extra 2 or 3 yr HP customer care extended warranty package :

Does it have an override function for the print cartridges ?
Hi!
how could I do to make a copy on both side, when I print something goes well, the problem is when I want to make a copy. is kinda weird for me I set it up from my compu .. but it doesn't copy me on both sides. help!
Thanks
Why did you choose this M281fdw over the M477fdw????
Price - M477fdw is great but this printer was more my budget
Nice machine
Thank you! Still working well 😀
Do you know any printer that doesn’t make any noises?
Hello, does this printer support double-sided scanning?
Hi! I’m looking for a printer that can handle 92-118 LB paper. Does this printer handles that kind of paper?
Whats the small document feeder at the front for?
this is a canon printer with canon toner assemblies, branded hp, just so you know
That's pretty cool! I've had a Canon printer before, although it was an inkjet
Where is the tray 2?
Thanks for the upload and I can appreciate your jubilation upon receiving your new "best" printer. I lclicked your link to the M281FDW which took me to Amazon with an unrated product description priced at $591. I wanted to read user reviews from people who had purchased this printer so I searched Amazon for another listing of the same printer and found it for $408 and rated by over 500 people. 26% of those people gave it one-star, that's 1 out of 4 unhappy buyers. Wow! If you continue to use this printer, a follow-up review after a month or two would be really useful information, i.e, does the toner cartridge shut down the printer or requuire replacement; when "low''; is the wifi connection reliable; any paper jams, any software compatibility issues, or any other real-time user experience? If it works really well for you after a bit of time, I'd really like to know.
Thanks for letting me know about the link. I try and update with the best price but Amazon changes fast. In terms of the printer, I use it for myself and my business so I use it a lot. I haven't had problems with software or toners. The only time I had a paper jam was when I was trying to use 6x4 photo paper, but it was easy enough to remove. Normal paper and A4 photo paper works well for me. I should probably do a follow up video on it!
The wifi is pretty bad where the printer is, although I've not had problems with it losing connection. When the toner is low it warns you but doesn't stop printing. When it's runs out it does.
I use the wifi all the time. It has a thick outside wall between it and the router. No problems printing or scanning so wifi on it is great. In comparison some computers can't even connect there.
I print a lot of programs and flyers on cardstock. Can this printer handle up to 80lb cardstock effortlessly?
HP recommends 59lbs or under - I've tried card with various weights - it needs to be flexible enough to bend, otherwise it works well
It's a great video! Can someone tell me about the supported margins? Currently I own a HP Inkjet and the bottom margin is 1,6 cm. I'm looking for a printer that allows 1 cm for all sides but really can't find this kind of info anywhere. Thanks in advance!!
Hey! My printer will arrive in 2 days. Its the the same! I wanted to ask if I can print photographs on it? I am an amateur photographer; will I be able to print on that shiny photographic paper? (not sure about its actual name).. thanks for the awesome review
You can, but I'm not sure the printer really likes the thick shiny paper.
can i know the printer size?
Is it F4 compatible for scan and copy size?
Hi
Can you print something over manual tray! Thanks
Yep it's at the front
@@TechBaffle Yes I know, but can you print over manual tray and receive paper on back side.
Nice article. How does it handle envelope printing?
Normal paper envelopes work fine
@@TechBaffle but how does it do it? I have seen some other MFCs (Brother, Kyocera), where you have to open the machine, and switch switches in order to print to an envelope. With my old HP, you just insert the envelope in the slot and print with the right page size. Is that how this one works?
does it work with ChromeOS
between m277dw has different?
Can I try a generic toner from Amazon with 4.8 star review?😢
There's lots of compatible toners, although I'm not sure which one you mean. It may work, although with printer updates they might not do.
How do I change my color settings
How is the colour image print quality compare with inkjet printer?
The colours look much more vivid than my inkjet. I find I just use Standard print quality as it looks great - although you can select other options. Do bear in mind that inkjets work better with photo paper. Sometimes they're too thick for it.
human voice + printer noises + music... 2 things too many
Which noise wins?
TechBaffle none, which is precisely the issue
How about scanning the pages of books to my computer? Is the screen or something else preventing?
Books can be scanned easily as the screen doesn't overlap the scanner's glass
how does m281 differs from m277 and m477?
how possible can I photocopy a laminated paper on the above mentioned printers?
I can't find m277 (maybe it's discontinued) The m477 has a larger screen if that's important, otherwise I don't notice much difference. You can scan laminated documents on the flatbed scanner. The paper feed tray is paper-only.
If you're looking for wi-fi connection, make sure the model ends with 'w'. I've put links in the description for the wi-fi model.
What cost the carthridges for this model
You can see the full range of toners available here: baffle.link/m281fdw-toner
can you print Photo's or on Photo quality paper?
Not on this.
Can any one help me , all pages is nearly to pink color why , how i fix it
On the printer, select 'Supplies Status'. What do the ink levels say? Any warnings? You can also print a report: Setup > Reports > Supplies Status.
Is ADF two-sided print capable?
No
It is only 2 sided printing
This is the reason that i purchased canon mf741cdw
The Amazon reviews of this printer are bad.
If you have any questions, let me know. I use this printer daily and haven't had any problems. I've previously used printers from Dell, Epson, Lexmark etc.
I think it had a few bugs when it first came out..
*Wondeful here*
thank you!
I'm thinking of buying this printer, any new reasons not to from anyone? Thx
For me it's been reliable - haven't had any problems with it so far!
I bought it about a month ago and have been happy with it.
@@vinniebob9264 That's great to hear! Happy printing 😀
Anyone using compatible cartridges?
is it A3 compatible?
Works with A4 or smaller
How is the printer working out for you ?
Going smoothly 😃
Thanks Mate .

Thanks for the reply Mate ...
I got the printer but it was in a damaged box , so the company fetched it , and will deliver one next week in an undamaged box .
Once all is working , i will post a comment .
I now have the m477fdw .
Did your printer give off a bad odour when new , due to heating of the drum etc ?
And my m477fdw has a seemingly too light black print quality , somewhat like a draft print quality rather than a normal print quality ,
Any idea how I can adjust that ?
I have read comments in hp help forums , and one person says that entering through their ipaddress , they were able to lighten picture print settings somehow
So I figure that may help to darken normal black lettering quality ?
