    8:03 Jessica was not inspired by “family dishes“ as in something mom used to make. She said this was a dish she makes for “family meal“. A family meal in a restaurant context is the meal that is made for staff to eat before service begins, usually made by one of the under chefs.

    • @spdcrzy
      @spdcrzy 16 днів тому +20

      But it still is family-inspired. It's simple and quick to make, it's hearty, it serves a lot of people, and it often IS inspired by childhood homemade food that many chefs would have had growing up. It's called a family meal because it's meant to evoke that feeling too. Restaurant workers really are family. Sometimes the best kind, sometimes the worst.

      How did you eat more of your portion if they left that out for you to eat?
      Are you or the members of your family inhaling gas fumes on a daily basis?

    The insanity that is these judges, Brennan snacking the entire time, how perfect Brennan and Izzy are together, Oscar's adorable food ignorance, Jordan trying to keep things together as chaos continues to ensue, the judges going feral over a blowtorch, Chef Trevor doing his goddamned best while being thirsted over only to totally understand the assignment at the end, the wonderful friendly competition that Chef Mark is bringing to the environment and then setting his last dish on fire, and Chef Jessica Tiffany coming through each and every time... this is the best cooking show I ever watched. The chaos, the drama, the hunger and horniness that occurred. Just, the image of a trio of professional chefs invited onto a cooking show, explaining what they put into their dish while a quartet of food lovers lust over every dish. Simply art. I hope the judges had fun with this nonsense cus the judges sure were! And the twist ending!

    There's an enormous amount of stuff about this show that's worth lauding, but I think something that's under-talked about in the comments here is how great Jordan is at going toe to toe with both the panel of comedians and the chefs doing the challenges. Alternatively, maybe you could try making your own with something like sunflower seeds, since it's pretty easy to make, just a bit time consuming with all the layering.
