Yeah, I agree about being in the dark ages for snakes. I see a lot of snakes being bred and essentially given no enrichment - not even hides in some cases - and folks misunderstanding the mental health and capacity of these animals. Racks and tubs/bins can absolutely work, but they need to be done right. They need space to stretch out. They need hides. They need things to explore, climb on, burrow under, and they need interaction to remain comfortable with people and especially handling if you want to hold them and have them not be stressed/scared every time. I've started a system of "knocking", either on the shelf or on the side of the tub, before each feeding time, so the snakes know this time food is coming. No knock means I'm opening to clean or handle.
And because I check in on all my snakes every day, and spend a few minutes talking to all of them, they actually come out to greet me when I talk to them, and it makes it easier for me to reach in and pick them up.
We have research confirming the intelligence and emotional capacity of snake brains, and to ignore that is irresponsible if you're going to be owning and breeding snakes, you know?
Anyway, really appreciated this vid and respect your message!
    Thankssss 🐍 ❤️

I live in SC and there are tons of places that have wild bamboo growing all over the place. I take some from safe places and then cut them up and use them as bioactive "paper" tubes in my enclosures and it works pretty good

Here's an interesting idea...You might try adding Vermicomposting worms such as Red Wigglers, European Nightcrawlers, African Nightcrawlers (for hotter setups), etc. as part of your cleanup crew. They could potentially process poop a lot faster than just the isopods. Anyway, it would be an interesting experiment.

Thank you I'm glad too see im not the only one running out of space. But still want to expand my collection and give the animals a better quality of life. All my enclosures are bioactive so I would like to do the new rack the same way :)

You can, you can even add uvb, you just have to get creative. That being said uvb will eventually deteriorate plastic, but kind of the point of tubs is to be cheaper and easily replaced. Check out the other bio active tub video and then check out reptile mountain tv.
      Thanks for the view!
