It's getting better and better each time. Stunning lads! An idea - it would be cool if watchers could send in a pic of themselves with something they've just got into their collection. All the best!

KISS My Wax custom turntable slipmats now available! See below for ordering details!
Alright guys - we are going to try something new. As you may or may not know, doing the podcast and bringing it to you all has some costs involved with it (not a ton - but some regardless). We have website hosting fees as well as fees to get it to iTunes and such. We had a discussion and decided that we would come up with something cool that we could sell and use the profits to offset some of these costs. We are eventually going to do t-shirts but to start, I came up with the idea of doing a turntable slipmat. Our good friend Danny Bonthuis designed the slipmat (as well as most all of the graphics we use on the page and some on the podcast - thank you Danny!!)
So here's the deal - we are going to offer them for presale (STARTING NOW!!!). If we hit a minimum of 30 sold, we will do a full run of 100. If we don't hit that 30, we will refund everyone's money and scrap the idea for now. To purchase, you can send payment via paypal to contact@kissmywax.net. Costs will be: US $17 (shipping included) / Rest of the World $25 (shipping included).
We can't post the graphic here but if you'd like to see it, head over to facebook.com/groups/kissmywax or send an email to contact@kissmywax.net requesting an example. If you are interested, you can go ahead and send payment today! I will keep everyone posted on the progress of getting to 30 presold.

Guys, found your podcast via the Mark Chicchini episode 9 and lovin it ! Tom was a fan of yours from the episode on 3 sides so good to see you on your another podcast ! The Australian & New Zealand "best of" stickers. The Tom one had "JAC" logo & Jason yours had "Avery symbol". These are both sticker printing companies in 80's in Australia and both did runs of the stickers. I have the Avery logo set and a mate of mine also an Australian copy has the JAC. Love that you show the albums & contents and seeing you go through the albums and their versions is fantastic as a fan. have subscribed & listening the other podcasts .. Cheers from "Down Under" in Australia

i know i am 2 years late to this party (i've recently discovered you guys and all of your channels and have been playing catch up) but my opinion is the name of each album is the members name and it's in the KISS catalog and collectively they were called and marketed as the KISS Albums since collectively they are KISS,. But as when you are dealing with or talking about just one album out of the four, it's the artist's album. I love the show(s) and the Facebook pages. Keep it up. I am planning on being at the Gene Simmons vault experience in Nashville on April the 14th (my 49th birthday) so if any of you are there i'll hope to get to meet you then.

I'm 3 years late to this party (ack!) and my perspective is that the album titles are the individual band members' names and the overall "brand" is KISS; so included in all Kiss catalogues as if they were Kiss albums. But as we all know, nothing after Love Gun included all 4 members throughout, so for all intents and purposes, you could call any album a Kiss album, right?

Universal needs to hire Tom as their creative consultant on all further KISS releases! Where is the change.org petition?? Hah!

Great Show. I noticied that Peter's single was listed as "You STILL Matter To Me", when the actual song title is "You Matter to Me". Is your single a misprint, or were all of those singles labelled with that erroneous title? Just curious...

If the comp album is called "Best of the Solo Albums" it stands to reason that it is stuff from the solo albums. It's not unreasonable to call them that.

Hey! KISS fan from Italy here...that Italian edition is a decent cheap one which is a part of the "Successo" (Success) series. I have the Creatures one from that series with the same inner sleeve.

In Australia they are known as the solo Albums hence the Album that was shown, "best of the solo albums". I have the original Gene & Ace albums as I bought them new but never bought the Paul or Peter copies.

I have a feeling they had one of the Peter solo LP's Andrew is looking for at this place called BANANA RECORDS in St. Pete, FL. They had TONS of various editions of the solo albums. I only am interested in the 78 pressings so I probably didn't think twice. If I get back over that way, I will check!

I found an entire set of sealed picture disc of the KISS albums and my question is, my Paul and Ace picture disc have NBPIX on the spine and disc where as, Gene and Peter have NBPIX on the spine but NBLP P on the disc. so are the Peter and Gene second pressings? and we're they also pressed in 1978? and why are Paul and Ace a cream colored tint and Gene and Peter perfectly white? any info is appreciated.

Those aren't printer proofs, they are simply uncut press sheet. Proofs were not made on the actual print stock until the early 2000s. i had a Graphics and Printing company for 25+ years. i would be glad to answer any of the printing variant questions you have mentioned.

wanted to say I like you guys' vids and the fact that you have no problems talking and explaining actual dollar values of some of the items showed and discussed. as a collector and seller of vinyl myself I find it refreshing there's no chickenshit avoidance of collector values, market prices,etc.,etc. compared to some anal uptight collectors on other podcasts that don't say anything and act like if they had to open a sealed collectable their going to get sodemised and screwed out of a f*****n nickel and/or are totally avoiding of the collector values as if they are going to get screwed if they educate newer collectors and/or beginners on ballpark values of items. and, as a collector I understand why some want to keep their collections sealed,etc.,etc. -I GET THAT and have several items in my collection I keep sealed... but they shouldn't be acting like it's a damn breach of national security if they let people know what a collectable may be roughly worth. so thank you for being totally open about all those facets of collecting. I get questions about those things and values from newer and beginner collectors all the time and enjoy sharing all that info with them because it helps expand and keep alive the joy of collecting vinyl and growing which is great for us all, instead of being an uptight asshole that puts up a front and talks shit. you guys rock for being honest and open about the whole collecting experience-kudos to you all !!!!! rock on!! \m/ \m/

There is Discogs it will answer any upcoming questions you can refer to pressings while doing the show

    • @kissmykollectibles

Uh, no thanks. Discogs is riddled with errors. In our group, we discourage everyone from using Discogs as a resource. Tom Shannon is the world authority when it comes to Kiss vinyl. His 3 volume book detailing over 1800 different variations of Kiss vinyl around the world will be out in about 2 months. It has been researched with the most reputable Kiss vinyl collectors in the world over the past 3 years. It will be the definitive collection of information on Kiss vinyl - along with our FB group. Discogs is a selling site. It is populated by sellers who can list anything anyway they want to. We have found SO many errors on discogs. Had so many members of our group by items from it and receive something completely different. It's no different than Ebay or Wikipedia. Anyone can list anything anyway they want. Thanks
      Jason

You guys say they are not the "solo" albums as a title but how come the Best of is called Best of the Solo Albums?

    • @downboys
      @downboys 8 років тому +1

Watch again. I said solo albums. Tom and Andrew call them The Kiss Albums. In their defense, the original promotion in the US for them always called them The Kiss Albums, not the solo albums.

    • @chasbrock9045

Gene explains during the radio promo that the band decided to name each album "KISS - [name of member]," so Gene's album is titled "KISS - Gene Simmons." I've never, until this podcast, heard anyone refer to them as "The KISS Albums." Obviously, the marketing people thought that would be simplest way to collectively refer to the set and the easiest for John Q. Public to remember.

The Kisstory book was originally a rip-off sham! Hardcover books shoulld be Smythe-sewn, where all signatures are stitched together. The original printing tried to bind it like a large soft cover book, a method called "Perfect Binding"...great for soft cover, NOT for hardcover.
Perfect Binding involves folding each 16 pg signature, grinding 1/8" from the spine fold, the wrapping them in the cover, held to the cover spine with glue....doing the first hardcover release that way was trying to do it on the cheap by one of the involved parties. It was destined to fail long before they were produced.
