These last two episodes have been some of my favorite. So damn good and funny. Joe is comedy gold. Love this channel. Digging my Slaughter Wild Life box set. Hope you guys do the first album as well, that's my favorite album from them. Groovy.
Another thing on that Destroyer Sampler. Similarly to the RARO sampler, the Destroyer EP does not contain the single Shout It Out Loud. This was most likely released to either push Flaming Youth, or maybe Beth or Detroit Rock City
I have no documentation (or I need to re-check that binder). Remember... Casablanca Records Accounting... the label did some crazy shit. Didn't necessarily get anywhere near a memo to the band or business managers since promos were handled different in terms of royalties. The 1975 contract detailed samplers weren't royalty bearing, but need Artist approval which would leave a paper trail for someone, and direct sales with bore 1/2 royalty rate. So ...
Jason I was glad you guys put up some new Vinyl Episodes!! Got a question for you and Joe on a past past episode Tom Shannon talked about he and Joe were gonna put out a book every fan would want…obviously it didn’t happen but what was the book topic going to be .. just curious.
Really need to bring a mass spectrometer into the conversation or I'll not be totally convinced ;) I need to catch up on the full ep, but props to Mike for the bravery of ungluing a cover -- that is certainly not recommended and from my experienced "overcooking" them with a heat gun, they don't glue back together well... Last point, that you may have covered, is a hi-res scan of the cover to examine the print pattern. That might help... Otherwise, I'm happy for it to remain in the D. B. Cooper category...
I dig your idea of the Hi-Res scan, but I have thought all along that this was professionally printed. I question the official-ness of it. ...And I was nervous about the ungluing. The other jackets that I did earlier that day took me about 5 minutes apiece. This jacket took me about 15
Everybody just needs to research when this album hit the market. We do know we have very rare sample releases before this one and no one questions the other ones. Way to many errors to think this was just pushed out and was never cataloged until the late 90's or early 2000's.
Probably already been said or thought of, but just in case. Could be possible the colored version was intended to be the promo, printed a few, but then had them stop because of the release of the actual album in color? Then the few already printed got sent out as to fill a void or by accident.
I did ask Dennis and he said he didn't know and also asked Eddie Kramer if he knew at all and he said they (Casablanca) would have done the promo stuff without any notice to him as producer at all.
@@contentm3893 it's not a reach at all. The promotional text is printed on the labels, not stamped. With the Debut and The Originals, it's a completely different label. This is how these promo copies exist, it's not a stretch at all

Agree, but I'd like to see multiple comparisons on the color variant. Should also consider impression on it. Does it feel typed or printed. I want it either way, but want to know if legit. I'm 50/50

@@kissmykollectibles the only way to really prove it, is to undo the glue on the seams, and look at the color codes, code #’s and cover cut targets, But that would definitely ruin the value lol.
Gents,do you remember when John 5 and Nicholas were on the show we used to laugh and enjoy talking about Kiss. The days when you laughed at Nicholas for trimming posters, now you advocate the cutting open of album sleeves ! Todays particular highlight was a picture of the inside of the sleeve, just blank cardboard. Just saying I miss the good old days.

We discovered many more things than just the patent number. Printing plant numbers. Fonts used originating in the 60’s. Printing method. And on and on. The research that went into these episodes was done to help the collecting community. We had people from both sides of the argument on. I’m sorry you don’t appreciate that. Take care. (Jason)

What? The label certainly did work with Bill with regards to what was being pushed to the radio stations. The record is a bootleg. Period.

I have asked Dennis a couple of time about the promos. They were not made at Howard Marks.

Plenty. Gold-stamped KISS records didn't start until Alive II. Before that it was mainly cut corners, hole punches or saw-marks on the jackets
