Howdy, friends! I started working on this video two weeks ago and so much has happened since - Biden spouting right-wing talking points about "illegals," liberals patting themselves on the back for sending a handful of expired meals to Palestine (while continuing to support their ethnic cleansing campaign), Biden announcing the US will officially be occupying the region in order to build a "port" in Gaza (which will surely not be used for military purposes), it's almost too much to keep up with. Time to tell it like it is. Our liberal friends need a wakeup call. If you appreciate the work I'm doing, please consider becoming a patron. @SecondThought are you seriously saying AOC and Bernie Sanders are the same as Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff. Why have electoralism or democracy at all? You do realize Bernie Sanders is a true Progressive unlike Nancy Pelosi and is committed to Civil Rights even when it hurts him politically same with AOC. There are differences between Progressives and Liberals and you need to premise that those true Progressives in power are are marginalized by the Liberals who demand negative peace over positive one.

@jherc12990 In the greater context of this statement, he was referring to the American government in general because they preached integration but practiced segregation. He knew very well that both sides were working together against black people, even if they claimed to be our allies.
@jherc12990 It does apply to liberals though. It just doesn't exclusively apply to them. We have to get out of this mindstate of thinking these political parties or ideologies really define people. Instead, we need to focus on the systems that oppress us and the elite few who benefit from them.

Not just unpopular, but controversial to even bring it up. Did you see that girl protestor that went to Biden rally and everyone put their fingers in their ears once she questioned him?
I turned 18 in 1969. I registered as a Republican, I also discovered Christianity and became a fundamentalist. My parents were both liberals, I think. And I say, I think because they never talked openly about the political climate ever. But my mother, when I was a young boy, took me to see Bobby Kennedy speak. She didn’t have a babysitter and she wanted to go see his speech. Interestingly, after the speech, we were in a drugstore to pick up some supplies and there was Bobby Kennedy in the line at the cash register right in front of us. I had an opportunity to meet the man. My parents were also very well educated and growing up, I did see the advantages to being well educated over being generally ignorant. So moving in a conservative direction I was also very interested in critical thinking and scholarship. To make a long story short, I became very studious, I ended up obtaining several college degrees. But I also found myself very disenchanted with my fellow conservatives who seemed to be unaware of too many inconvenient facts. And in my scholarship and the study of my religion, that created such cognitive dissonance that I eventually had to leave both. I did interact with a number of liberals, it was impossible not to especially if you were going to get educated. But I saw in them the same tendency towards lazy critical thinking. I need to cut to the chase. I eventually had to leave conservatism and organized religion, but I could not join the liberals. I actually began participating with a number of activist organizations. I was surprised that there was one common thread that I found inside these “left leaning” activist organizations. They were disgusted with liberals and the common Democrat. They saw the honest danger of the right, but they also saw the hidden danger of the left.
@@RobertWGreaves Oh, sorry! The ”hidden dangers of the left” was confusing me and I didn’t quite catch what you meant so I assumed it to be liberals due to the context of the video.
MLK Jr wasn't murdered directly because of wanting to end segregation and racism, but shortly after he started speaking truth to power and tied the struggle of black Americans to the struggle of the working poor. Once he realized that racism went hand in hand with wealth disparity he was assassinated, because those with the most would sooner make him a martyr and co-op his message than ever allow fair wealth distribution to become a reality in this country. The struggle has always been a struggle of class, it's just those at the bottom rungs of society tend to be minorities that get ground to dust the fastest.
Also came not long after he said "a riot is the language of the unheard". The moment he was no longer useful in mollifying an aggrieved populace, he was made to serve their purpose in a new way: as disembodied, cherry-picked quotes in a textbook.

Not only did many die and lower the economic activity of their communities but they contributed to issues in the current lower economic black communities. His major assumption was that if you are nonviolent, if you suffer, your opponent will see your suffering and will be moved to change his heart. That's very good. He only made one fallacious assumption: In order for nonviolence to work, your opponent must have a conscience. The United States has none.” ― Stokely Carmichael
"They say the civil rights movement was based on non-violence because Martin Luther King was a Christian―and that's totally absolutely nonsense. The reality is that the Ku Klux Klan was also a Christian organization―and there Christianity told them to lynch and kill black people who wanted freedom. And King's Christianity told us to non-violently be lynched and be killed in the process of having freedom. Had nothing to do with Christianity. Had nothing to do with religion. The reality is that it was a movement funded a sector of the ruling class that did not want to see itself overturned―just wanted another section moved out of the way so that capitalism could grow and flourish in this country. I know that ain't the fairy tale we often get told. Because the fairy tale is that the good white liberal woke up one day and decided he was going to love us, and then there were some good black people who believed in non-violence and just march off. The Gaza war has made it so much more obvious. All the people I grew up with talked about what they would have done in Nazi Germany to fight for justice. The only class that would be disenfranchised in a socialist regime is the owner class, which produces and reproduces injustice and inequality. So who do you vote for if you are in the west, in America? Biden who this video claims is AN enemy or Trump who will give Russia everything they dream of and take Ukraine for their own while Trump would give it to them regarding of how much they have fought to protect their sovereignty? I would take Biden over Trump because it's not just Gaza vs Ukraine, that's not fair to either of them, a world war won't help either of them, a destroyed republic is not helping either of them, conservatives will still help Israel, they had no problem voting that bill, but they will gladly give Ukraine to Russia. Iran, Saudi Arabia, Russia, north Korea and China have all been enemies of the west through their actions, called for our destruction. I don't support war except when it is for defense, when you backed into a corner, I support Israel's right to exist in this world and I support Palestine's right to exist. I don't have an answer about where either of them should go or if they should move, I wish I had the answer but no different than it's not helpful for the US to break up into racists and wokes, it's not fair to remove either of them from their lands. It's not black and white but Trump will do more damage than Biden, so who will you vote for when you have one vote?

Huge fan of his music! As always, liberals are..."Ten degrees to the left of center in good times, ten degrees to the right of center if it affects them personally." Words that still ring true today.
I've said it for a long time now, there are two parties in the US, the right wing and the far right. Actual leftists are called "radicals" and there are really only a handful of them and they get stifled. Our Libs here in Canada are not as extreme, but not far off. They are centrists at best and waffle on issues.

These videos have been a real eye-opener for someone who used to class themselves as a liberal, in the UK once I heard my other people and friends who were called progressives complain about protests that get attention and disrupt the lives of others, I went surely that's the point of a protest and ever since then I've become disillusioned realizing liberal-minded people can be the same thought and mind bound as a conservative just its alot harder to see as someone who likes foxes, a fox is a very good analogy
As African, I have seen this multiple times. I have said that i prefer a Republican over Democrats. The Republicans will tell you that they are Devil. At least you know this and prepare yourself on to deal with them. But the Democrats will tell you what you want to hear, but behind your back, they are destroying you.
Yup. I would rather vote a republican than a democrat. It also makes gaining broad left wing support easier, mobilizing people against a right wing capitalist figurehead instead of a "left" wing one
Being a South African it confuses me how the American people cannot see that Isreal is an Apartheid state. All the people committing these atrocities will pay for all the pain they cause for decades to come, as I have to pay for the crimes committed by my ancestors.
Actually the majority of us see it clearly. It's that our government is trying to gasoline us. Over 60% of all US people want a ceasefire and Israel to be punished for genocide. About 80% of Democrats want the same. Everybody around me and myself are calling out representatives non-stop but it doesn't seem like they care to listen to us. I'm in Michigan where we did the uncommitted protest and that's not even getting through to them as much as it should. It sickens me that my government is participating in a genocide with my tax dollars. Part of me wants to peace out and move to a different country and another part of me knows I need to stay and fight for change. But they keep criminalizing their protests and it's beginning to feel very hopeless.
It was like that for South Africa in the olden days too. It's like the wars and civil rights movements, liberals oppose every apartheid regime except those existing right now.
Are you saying it’s a good thing if future generations take up the guilt of their forbearers or are you saying that they will have to suffer a bad reputation because of what past generations did?
I don't know if you're also aware of Michael de Freitas (Michael X) who somewhat modelled himself on Malcolm X, but his criticisms of polite liberal British society were similar and on point. He took it one step further and saw that the children of polite white liberals growing up in the 60s and 70s would go on to adopt the language of civil rights, but instead of actually give up power, simply manage the situation with a smile and a concerned voice. That is literally the society I grew up in in the 90s, white people who pretended to care but never did anything beyond buy a wristband or share a post on Facebook.
@elisehalflight the difference being, if you're a person of color, it's from birth and cannot be concealed, a white trans person, although suffers persecution in society as well, will have spaces to hide it, this is usually why class consciousness must be taught to people considered to be white, people of color are born into it.
_One of the core flaws of liberals is lacking any theory of power, which leads to ignorance of actual oppressive structures in favor of distracting and unproductive frameworks_ The quote above is one of the most succinct and concise commentaries on liberalism I came across online ever
I've spoken to quite a lot of liberals over the years and this really is such an important observation about them. They absolutely hate to think about power, how it's used, and what it's used for/who it is currently being used to protect. It makes them intensely uncomfortable to imagine political power taking the form of anything other than a vote.
Was thinking of Martin Luther king jr’s speech against the liberal earlier. I remember his frustration with those who told him “I agree but now is not the right time.”

The reason why non-disruptive protests are often not being cracked down - because it doesn't threaten those in power. Historically speaking, even failed uprisings had led to concessions, whereas throwing flowers never achieved anything.
It's so frustrating when government in my country allows pride parades with a specific plan surrounded by twice as much police by volume than the protesters, or disallows marches for Palestine entirely because you apparently need a permit, and then some far right landlords just drive out in huge farm vehicles in every city, burn shit, block roads and tracks etc
When your only option to get attention to your problem is via protest, you have (a) ruined (a) democracy. 40-50 years ago, there were governments who controlled the system, and it was the people who fought, challenged and voted members into those parliaments creating a short period in time where the citizen actually mattered. Some countries were occupied by force and their leaders killed, but in others it took decades and generations to fully take over and ruin the society. Now in those countries there are protests again. Will it work this time? Probably not, the enemy is in control of the army. Will the violent and inconvenient protest help? It depends on the goal. If the goal is the one protested for, nope, but if against, yes. Before Jan 6, the protester was on the SAME side as the program viewer; the majority getting programmed after a hard day of work. Jan 6 shifted the perspective, making the protester the enemy. This was deliberate and purposefully orchestrated. Today the media is showing every protest as the enemy. While the act of protesting is getting more violent, so does the counter action by the authority. And bcz the program viewer is already programmed to think the protester is the enemy, the authority can safely execute the protesters. This is why Trump got into the office the first time around. The second time is for executing the protesters.

Most of those white people present had never lifted a finger in the eradication of Apartheid and were only there just NOT TO BE CAUGHT ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY. The same thing will happen in Palestine, when the war is over you will see a huge number of Israeli people coming out saying that they had opposed the war the entire just for them NOT TO BE CAUGHT ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY.
You are deluded to think there is an equivalence in the scenarios. "Palestine" will be annexed piecemeal because its the will of the regional sovereign nations. As far as Egypt, Israel, Jordan etc are concerned they get no right to self determination. When you declare war you can lose freedoms, when you refuse surrender you can forfeit life.
Based. Around 2009, I had the opportunity of debating with two American liberals, and my conclusion was: "wtf, 😮 do these people really think they are better than conservatives?" Surely, they were LGBTQ+ friendly and pro-choice, but they wanted closed borders and to deport irregular immigrants. They also minimize imperialism, how the global north exploited global south. And when it comes to criticism to American racism, the excuse was "Other countries are more racist". They were patriotic, but a patriotism that can easily degenerete in Xenophobia and discrimination. I could keep going, but I don't like long comments, so let's leave it like that 🤦🙄😒😤 I don't want to get angry.

I am a student of socialism. This video really got to me because at the end of the day I really want change to happen and for it to be at least somewhat painless. So even though I have voted third party candidates, I never voted for them when I thought the GOP had a chance to win. I supported Sanders twice and then voted for Clinton and Biden respectively. I was pleased at the first of Bidens term. Then came the rail road strike, then the on going struggle to 'free Assange', Now Israel Palestine. Now the border crisis is as bad as ever... I appreciate this video as tough as it is to hear.
I'm with you- the railroad strike, opening up Alaska to drilling, Ukraine, Gaza, Yemen... it's impossible. But remember you've done a lot, and it's hard not to vote for the liberal when the other option is a fascist. Finally, who wants to live through a revolution? People die, and I don't like it when people die. I would still be on the front lines if a revolution broke out, but I have grown old and have trouble believing it ever will.

Or give us single-payer health care (Biden made that clear).
I appreciate you writing sincerely. I went door to door for B. Sanders both in 2016 & 2020 (even dragged my kids out with me).
I would never say that liberals are left, they are merely slightly less right leaning

The protesters started at the Israeli embassy and marched to the American embassy. Mount Sinai hospital is just down the street from the Israeli embassy and is directly between the two embassies. They literally had to walk past the hospital to reach the American embassy, but that is the only part of the protest that the media focused on, because it made the protesters look bad.

it's completely bizarre to me that in the US "liberal" is seen as a leftist thing. everywhere else people know it's just the same as being a capitalist
Capitalists are people who use money to make money. Most liberals aren't capitalists. Liberalism is a political view. Capitalism is an economic view. There's a little overlap but they're two different things. Ie: Liberals support a capitalist economy.
@@nunnayorz5836 I understand what you mean, but i used it more broadly to refer to anyone who supports capitalism. but yes, you're right.
@@nunnayorz5836 I think OP might be referring specifically to neoliberalism, which is an economic thing not a political one IIRC. Certainly as an Aussie, liberal being conflated with capitalist makes sense when our conservative political party is the Liberal party, as their economic thinking is pretty neoliberal.
That's how the Overton Window works though. To manufacture consent and give the appearance of a free society, the tiny differences between the two factions of the business party are magnified and debate over those differences in encouraged, but the Democratic party, a conservative party by the definitions of basically anywhere else in the world, sets the boundary as the leftmost edge of permissible thought and "reasonable" debate.

The thing that pisses me off so much about the Toronto Mt Sinai Hospital thing is that the hospital is along a major street called University Avenue where pretty much EVERY major protest walks along, and someone always climbs up on that scaffolding along the street, no matter what the protest is. Mount Sinai wasn't targeted for being owned by a Jewish organization, it's just on a busy street.
It was a very convenient excuse to chastise the protesters for being "anti-semitic". They were clearly on a path and weren't stationed at the hospital. I'm glad we don't have a 2-party system in Canada. NDP all the way for me.
They very well know it, they're deliberately misconstruing the obvious truth because they know they only need to alter the narrative just a bit before liberal prejudice kicks in, depriving them of all logic reasoning

How are you having to pay for the crimes of your ancestors?

ENTIRE POINT OF A PROTEST IS OPPOSITE TO THAT..🤦
The reason why non-disruptive protests are often not being cracked down - because it doesn't threaten those in power.

A great thought provoking video. I am 71 (white woman, middle class, democrat) I have protested since the 70s. I write thousands of letters, I volunteer for important (to me) causes.
The GOP is controlled opposition to scare people into voting for liberal candidates
I am just entering into senior citizenship myself. Each election that comes, we are meant to believe, is the most important one and we have to prevent Republicans from winning by voting blue no matter who. Again and again. Over and over. If you've been around long enough you begin to see it.
I'm done with that.
Neither major party really wants to do anything about poverty or homelessness or the ever-increasing inequality that capitalism inevitably leads to. Or the military industrial complex. Or give us single-payer health care (Biden made that clear).
I appreciate you writing sincerely. I went door to door for B. Sanders both in 2016 & 2020 (even dragged my kids out with me). This was the last straw----we need to break the strangle-hold of the 2 party system. They do nothing for us. They are liars. The "emperor wears no clothes"...we have eyes to see...
@@willieverusethis I’m a young person, and I think it’s true that voting in liberals does *stem* the overt threat of fascism. But it certainly doesn’t stop it. I feel we end up in a situation where liberalism eventually has to give as it continues to cling to the status quo, and fascism inevitably replaces it-unless there is extreme systemic change.
i used to call myself a liberal. i (uneducatedly) thought Liberalism stood for liberty, freedom for everybody to live a happy life. then i got older and saw how hateful it really is. im still for liberty, im still wanting freedom for everybody to be happy, but im no liberal.
I am neither a liberal nor a conservative, but I've learned a lot about liberals by reading the comment sections of newspapers such as WAPO. I realized a while ago that these folks congratulate themselves on their "open-mindedness" etc. but they are actually hypocrites. I call them out at every opportunity.
Then what does liberal mean then? Liberal = liberty they come from the same word
No, WE ARE, it is They who are misusing the terminology.
So you like freedom ONLY for the party you like?
That's what Classical Liberalism is. Modern Liberalism has lost those values. This guy isn't offering any solutions here either with his simplistic Marxist worldview by advocating for Socialism. History tells us what happened to all the nations that tried it.
Every single I hear Malcolm X say something it becomes far clearer to me why my criminal government had this man killed. Fuck America. Just fuck it all to hell man.
the so-called democracy will get us to nowhere, Thry must be directly confronted and exposed everytime they make public statement and we must actively informing the mass that there is world outside of conservative and liberal. The plutocrat is getting too comfortable since the fall of Soviet Union, and It is only in 50s and 60s that these plutocrat feel actually threaten that they concede on civil rights movement fearing Communist uprising in the west, we should do that as well. That's why I disagree with gun control as It's only benefit the criminal. They say that Nazi is insane cult not even realize themselve that they are in the more insane cult. The civil war has prove to us that even the "Liberal" would negotiate on the slavery when it's not in anyway morally justifiable.
More like f the system that runs America and drags down and brainwashes the masses
No don’t fuck America. Fuck our government.
Do you know who killed Malcolm? I don't think you do. The FBI were definitely surveling Malcolm and Martin, but it was the Nation of Islam that killed Malcolm.
I called myself a Liberal for a long time. But it seems I weren’t one.
I saw this firsthand with a Christian Liberal who would talk about needing to understand the plight of the marginalized. And I believed him and wanted to hear more. But he would always stop short of action, walking right up to the “therefore” then withdrawing into platitudes about needing to understand the abusers too. It took awhile before I realized that it was me being abused by this whiplash.
MLK and El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz tell it like it is because you get the truth from an oppressed and abused man.
Never tell a man, "I know how you feel", unless you experienced the same as he did.
You can only empathize with his emotions but never feel the same as he feels.
Most people who say that are trying to create a fake bond, and it's a form of self-praise, like charity.
Your work shines like a beacon of sanity in this insane world deprived of morality. Thank you for what you do.
Didn't he say there are no civilians in Israel and no innocent died shortly after October 7th?
That's your beacon of sanity?
@@tobene What's your beacon of sanity? The Zionist crocodile tear squad?

@@tobenehe did not say that. What he means is that israel is committing genocide beacause of a sttack of the hamas a minority. 17 thousnt people do not need to die for 100 terrorists.

There is a whole chapter in the red book of Mao, "combat liberalism". That doesn't mean liberalism in the USA sense.
Mao was behind the great leap forward failure 40 to 70 million deaths so no thanx.
as a german i get called an antisemit just for questioning Israel
As a German, thinking the word "jewish" feels antisemitic.
Questioning Israel is so far beyond that. Keeping a conversation civil and constructive for long enough to even acknowledge that Israel _can_ legitimately be criticized without antisemitism is quite a challenge.
@@wolframstahl1263 Not like criticism of Islam is any different. Islamophobia and antisemitism have both become words to shut down any criticism one doesn't like.
@@tristenatorplaysgames6833Which they very often are.
@Nxck2440 is there a reason I see you under every comment to this video so far? You don't seem to engage in constructive criticism. All your responses seem to be either an appeal to emotion or a vague statement that doesn't address any of the actual criticisms. What exactly is the purpose of you wasting your time to write and post all of your filler?
@@turboheadcrab666 This channel is a commie echo chamber. Just letting y'all know how normal people think of you, it seems you forget sometimes!
I'd say the US is the best example of Western liberalism - saying that they're the land of the free when they have second class citizens living in their colonies whilst also having the biggest prison population in the world where prisons are there for "profit".
And employers are small scale dictators in the US who expect their employees to be absolutely obedient and grateful for a job, and believe in their companies (not that everyone does, but you can't show it). Most European countries have real labor unions, and people get real single payer health care and real vacation time.
I grew up in Sri Lanka, Lesuto, The USA, Saudi Arabia, and Nicaragua. Most of my life, over half of it, was spent in the United States. Something funny about the USA; is they are always talking about freedom. But for me personally? The USA is such a backwards place; its almost like an alien country compared to the rest of the world. In the USA, my father died to cancer and it cost my mother $70,000. My mother had to work for 7 years of her life to pay off that debt; all for medical care that didn't even save her husbands life. Land of the free? Pish posh. More like land of the corporations. The citizens are just fodder to make money... I got fed up with being fodder for companies and I left. I've never looked back...
What second class citizens?
I swear commies just love to make crap up.
Tf you mean by second class citizens??
@@leonardodtc4847 people born in US territories cannot vote and are considered as foreigners if they enter the mainland USA which means the need to apply for visas despite technically being American which is why I consider them as second class citizens.
If you're born in Guam, Puerto rico, and any other US territory you cannot vote but you still get taxed and you cannot freely enter the country that you're a part of which is insane.
I have watched this 3 times now and this video can explain the frustration, anger, and even confusion that I have had for the last few months. Talking with friends and family has become impossible. I feel like I'm surrounded by ghouls cheering for death and destruction. They keep telling me that it's not my problem and I should just live my life which I kind of understand but they refused to even acknowledge how our apathy to the atrocities is essentially implied consent for a continuation. First, they came for…
This video helped me understand the world better, thank you. 🌹
I can't stop watching this video either
The irony is, the conservatives will say the same thing about liberals, only they frame it in the opposite direction (Sympathies towards socialism/communism). Liberals side with whomever they think benifits them at the given time.
I have been watching channel for a while, but it is this video that had me become a Second Thought patreon and join the Discord. This video was unsettling in that 'this is challenging my preconceptions' way. I am scared, but reading the Discord and links from it and, I hope, learning.
It can be so scary to realise you've been conditioned into accepting a horrible, exploitative society. It cam start out sad and isolating.
But from experience and with reading more leftwing material, to understand liberalisms drive, it does get better and their are solutions for a better world.
