Welcome back everyone!
I'm back to bring you more content for the game 'Psychonauts 2' by Double Fine Productions. For this video, I'll be showing cutscenes and interactions between Raz and his family. This interaction occurs after reporting to Truman Zanotto about Ford Cruller's arrival to the Motherlobe. After you meet up with Raz's family on the Quarry, they can be found in The Questionable Area.
I love how The Aquatos theme is a different take on The Meat Circus theme.

I love how they're acting like it's been years since they seen him and it's been like 3 or 4 days ☠
That's how any family would act when their children leave and start their own lives separate from the family, when they see them again they act as if it's been years! I can speak from personal experience.
To be fair, he ran away from home. Probably evoked a lot of difficult feelings. Not least of which would be concern, confusion and probably anger. That would aggravate any reunion.
Try 3 to 4 months. We have no idea how far Razputin traveled to join that Psychonauts training camp, but he made it sound like it was pretty far.

@@kingcamelot1395 The game constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY mentions that the events from the first game and the current game are three days apart. They literally do not let you miss it.
I like how Raz can dominate psychic bears and pyrokenetic mountain lions but cannot escape the beatings of being a middle sibling

@@onlyacomentarynothingspeci2419 At least Frazie seems to be okay with him for the most part, aside from being mad he stole her horse anyway. It looks like she genuinely wanted to support Raz but due to how their mom is she mostly just kept quiet.

Frankly, I like seeing Raz's father really making an effort to be a better father, and make up for his old anti-psychic ways that he now knows was hurting his son since the first game.
Which makes him the most likable of the Aquatos, as he is genuinely being supportive.
If only they had scenes with Lilli meeting Raz's family
I feel like they wouldn't like her bc siblings don't usually like their sibling's bf/gfs or Lilly would be all judgy of the family. And it's weird how they're dating but only 10yrs old too
@@monkey6207 lol you never had the curiosity "dates" as a 10 year old? People I know had "boyfriends" and "girlfriends" at 10 years old. It wasn't a true relationship as we would know it but 10 year olds try to mimic adults around them, yes kissing was a thing, no I still dont' think that was a true relationship. However I did know a few people who were in a 10 year old relationship that eventually got together in highschool or college.

I like how when Raz asked who "cursed the Aquatos" Nona interrupts him
It's good foreshadowing without being blatantly obvious
I like the expression on Dion's face at 22:26.
He knows he said something really hurtful
He realizes he went too far kind of look
He just jelly cause he got the moves
He clearly felt kind of bad but is also too angry and proud to admit it. Letting Raz help set up the aquato dome was probably the only thing he could do to show he doesn’t hate his little brother. Apologizing to someone you’re mad at is probably the hardest thing to do.

Raz leaving the family does NOT excuse Dion being a total bully to him. If I were Raz, I would cut off any connections with Dion and just try to erase him from memories.
@@reiarjaeylaxa9826 Judging by some of the dialogue it’s safe to assume Dion isn’t all bad, he did teach Raz a cool technique that he uses through out the game. There’s no such things as a perfect family.
4:53 it's hilarious that she's annoyed at Raz saying it's okay to be a psychic, and then seconds later flings a pinecone with Telekinesis at him.

The fact that if Donatella remembered to lock the doors at night, Psychonauts would've never happened. I think about that.
If she remembered to lock the doors, Oleander would've taken over the world with his brain tanks.

Wow... They actually developed the whole family. That's so nice. I'm from a big family and there are never good big family characters. The best we get with disney is those copy/pasted triplets in Brave. I feel like usually, stories like this go the strawman route of making the close-minded family who think the main character is a freak for no good reason. But they all seem to be developed, sympathetic characters. It's always nice when writers make an effort to avoid stupid cliches. I really feel refreshed to see a whole developed family for once and no dead parents. Yes, this is refreshing! And they have five whole kids. Thank you, writers, this never happens; siblings have a lot of interesting dynamics for stories.
And! Raz is not the cliché youngest child either! I'm very impressed!!!

I love Raz's mom. They couldve easily made her a prejudiced pain in the ass, but instead they made her quite delightful!

Yeah, but that harkens back to certain type of mom stereotypes related to Romani (and Jewish) peoples that some of Raz's family is meant to symbolize

Compared to what the writers could have done with Donatella concerning Raz, she's very delightful. The passive aggressive guilt tripping isn't even particularly uncalled for considering how Raz ran away from the family leaving them all worried. Not to mention the fact that he associated with psychics which is a sore subject for the Aquatos.
I love how Augustus is trying so hard to be supportive but he clearly doesn't understand anything about psychics at all. It's so sweet how he tries his best to support his son!
Also the fact that probably the whole family knows that Frazie is psychic, but none of them out her. They wait for her to tell them on her own. That is so sweet!
I like the fact that the first power he seemingly unlocks is telekinesis. It makes sense really, he's a master acrobat. His whole life has been defying the laws of gravity as if it were just a guideline. Now he's able to make OTHER things defy gravity. Really fitting.
Queepie is definitely going to be the circus strongman someday...

Noted that Frazie is just a beat away from Raz of being a psychic agent, likely very powerful too hence her omnipotence of pinecone targeting rivalling Ford Cruller omnipotence of job filling. The note is based on something small and easily thrown away but that is she is one letter away of being Raz herself, that being Fraz, instead of Raz.

@@thatguyyouknowtheone4073 Through the entire game Frazie throws pinecones at Raz when she's nowhere in line of sight of Raz, which means that every pinecone flung at Raz's face was done with Telekinesis.
I feel so unbelievably stupid for not seeing the "Fraz" and "Raz" name thingy
Speaking of which, I find it awesome how probably everyone in the family knows about Frazie being psychic, but they don't out her. They wait for her to tell them on her own. As flawed as the Aquato family is, deep down they really are supportive.
It's so cute that Donnatella still sees Raz as her li'l baby boy. What mother wouldn't?

It took me a while to realize Dion is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, who also voices Spider-Man.

God i can’t tell if this game was made for the adults who played the first game, the newer generation Of children, or all of the above. Because they hit both marks amazingly.

I didn't originally want dlcs because I missed the classic full game fun of ps2 games this gave us, but God do I want some more Aquato interaction and psychonauts fun lol
I think every psychonaut fan wants some kind of aquato family dlc. No need to be ashamed
I'd pay top dollar for any story/game extending dlc for psychonauts 2. But definitely bring more of the Aquatos

I dunno if this was intentional foreshadowing on Double Fine's part, but Nona's outfit is out of pattern with the rest of the family.

The real question we should be asking
It took me a while to figure this out but I believe Augustus' question of "Did you show them all?" is a reference to Raz' old Myspace Bio:

I really believe that Augustus seeing that twisted version himself in Raz's mind had a profound effect on him. We don't know what he was like before (Raz seems to believe his father hates him in the first game), but it's possible he was much stricter. Augustus was so horrified by the monster his son viewed him as that he seems bound and determined to be the kindest most understanding father he can be. Then again maybe he was always like that and Raz was just angsty.
