  • Having a good backswing is crucial for having a consistent and repeatable golf swing. The best golfers in the world including Nelly Korda use a selection of simple and easy to do drills to help them ingrain this perfect position.
    The first drill called the push back drill will get your takeaway on plane in just a few swings. The second drill will sync up your arm swing with your body swing allowing you to achieve this perfect backswing.

    Hi everyone, which of the two drills is the most important for your swing?

      Second one. I’m pretty good initiating the back swing, but I lose things at the top.

    Love it. That’s going to be my weekend swing thought.

    Excellent job Giles on explaining how to attain "the best" takeaway and backswing! This is the same type of procedure that I have been working on. When I get it right, the shots are fantastic. When it doesn't happen, the results are not the same. I won't give up though because I think it's a winner! Well Done Giles!

    Seen Sir Nick Faldo do the “sweeping “ take away, like you are showing. I’ve been working on that part.
    Will try the second drill now though.

    I find cack handed backswings also create the feel for both these actions/positions without training aids.

    Great video. New to your site and your content is well explained and free of complicated thoughts. Quick question. In your takeaway/backswing is the sensation more right side dominated (that is do you feel like your right arm and hand are the instigators) or is it more shoulder/chest oriented?
    Thanks

    I've recorded myself and noticed I bring my arms to close to my body in the downswing which leads to lots of shots off the toe. Would you say that's related to my arms breaking apart at the top like you show off in this video?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  Місяць тому +1

      Yes can definitely be root cause issue to toe shots

    Giles, quick question. Do you believe the hips and arms/shoulders move back at the same time. Or, do you believe the arms and shoulders go back first, then the hips and legs will join. Seen several knowledgeable coaches teach each way. Kind of confusing right.

    Great idea 3 min. Every time I watch a golf video I say why is it so long! They can show whatever they are showing in 3 minutes very easily, so much time is wasted, it's frustrating! Good job!
