- Nanny was finally able to see an Orthopedic Surgeon and get imaging of her knee….lots of options…and the decision was made as to what to do….meanwhile the adventure with Colleen turned into one of Nanny’s Rabbit Hole stories…Nanny is also sharing more of the Coyotes Saga and sharing some possible Christmas gift suggestions.❤️

That was actually a good outcome for your knee. I had that 20 years ago and by the time I saw the Doctor the pain was getting better every day. Back then the doctor wanted to fix the torn meniscus especially since I had Insurance for the operation. That made me kinda mad and I told him no and since it was feeling better I would wait and see. It healed fine. So happy ,Nanny , that you are on the mend. Love to you both ,Liz
I saw this last night after you posted. I experienced something similar to this after bending forward to drop a box to the floor way back in April or May. I had a lovely and mostly painless recovery and am so glad that your family is so caring and available to give you and Moosie the proper care. Remember the line in Steel Magnolias "I don't know about the rest of you but your hair is holding up great". My PT wizard was fabulous. She actually made the sessions fun, but there were times that I really did not want to be there. 2 rollators in your small space will be a challenge. Sending prayers for both of you and your caretakers. This will someday be a great rabbit hole story. We do enjoy those. Stay busy to help you tolerate the necessary changes. Let us watch you make those stockings. Love ya.

Here are my suggestions as a retired nurse who worked with elders at one time. There are meal services that will deliver meals that can be heated in the microwave. You might be able to specify that you need a meal for diabetics. This would make it easier on you. No pressure to cook except for breakfast. Less groceries, dishes, cleaning, etc. at least try it for a month. Maybe your kids can chip in a bit if it’s not in your budget. We are currently using this service for relatives in their 80’s where the woman now has Parkinson’s. She can’t cook. Hubby can’t either. The family feels better knowing they are set for two meals a day.
Have your kids pick up any scatter rugs, if you still have them. Maybe relocate the coffee table till you heal. Make more space to navigate. With all those firefighters around, make sure you have grab bars in the shower. Honestly, you need a stall shower. Or a transfer shower chair if Moosey doesn’t already have one.
Please take this in the spirit in which it’s being given. I can do this stuff in my sleep. Trust me, at 70 and 73, I have already done a few things in our home. My husband needs a leg brace and I have nerve damage from spine surgery, so I started thinking about this in my 50’s. And it’s fine. We just need to make these adjustments as needed.
Don’t sit more than you have to. Drink enough. Keep track of your blood sugar. Being more sedentary might mean an adjustment in your medication. Hugs to you, lovely lady!

Hello Nanny I’m so happy to hear that you’re knee is better and you won’t need surgery. At 86 surgery might be a bit rough. Still praying for that quick and thorough healing because I know you want to get back into the swing of things. Just saw this, Nanny…I’m so thrilled to know that you are not in that awful pain and the doctor knew exactly what to do. I’m sure we’re allllll relieved! The globe was lovely I've always liked them since was a child. The fire blanket sounds like a necessity; I don't know i know how to use my fire extinguisher or can read the directions especially now with retina damage.

I'm going to repeat what so many of us who follow you keep saying in truth, is that you are an inspiration to us all to look at that glass as half full. I, too, have always done that and I feel it's better for us to look at life that way when things change on a dime.
