Would def love a recommendation list for budget headphones. I just got Neumann headphones and I’d like to get a headphone amp (maybe the Hugo 2) for mixing in headphones
Just for clarity since I’m new to this. So Hugo 2 can be used as an interface alone? Also could I connect my apogee duet 2 to the Hugo 2 for headphone amplification? I have the Neumann 150 ohms..would that translate well with Hugo 2?
Hey, ya so apogee duet has a really good headphone amp and conversion built in. I wouldn’t necessarily reco buying hugo2. However if you have one. You’d have 2 workflow. Tracking and mixing, duet for tracking. Switch to hugo for mixing. You could plug them both. But I generally dont have my interface on when mixing. Just the hugo.
Hey, IMO the converters and components in the apollo interface are pretty up there, I would consider it to be on the high end home/studio interface. I’d say it’s a solid headphone dac/amp and pretty flat, you could do without a dedicated amp/dac but having one wouldn’t be redundant but an upgrade specially if you are considering Hugo2/Adi2 fs pro/RNHP, tho you’d have to decide weather it’s worth it for you. For most projects Apollo could be an end game. I’ve seen some console users who has a dedicated headphone dac/amp just coz they are familiar with the quality, and they have a certain workflow. Maybe best to audition one and see how they fit into your workflow.

IMO the neuman with the apogee is good enough combo.
