Thats probably one of the best buys on the lot. Totally stock, modest price. I'd get new springs on the back and ditch the extended shackles. Great cruiser.
Tires might not clear then
@@rickydrone9274 new tires and rims!
Hello Nick, beautiful car. The horn is the rubber ring all around the inner circumference of the steering wheel. It was called rim blow. Good luck!!
Yeah, rim blow, had a girlfriend who told me about that.
@@boataxe4605 😅
Now I am really curious if it works.. lol
Good call that was my first thought too
We called it the Panic Pad! If your power steering went out, it honked every time you turned!
i dont normally like convertibles but this looks good you dont see this car much im loving this one
Yes I'm also liking this car. Big fan of the Couger. I had a 1988 XR7 Couger with the 5.0 motor. Great car. Although I don't care to much for the green intierreer.
Absolutely fantastic car, engine sounds good too, price is too low.
1973 Cougar Convertible is a real car.
Nothing today compares.
It is not a racer, it is a car for cruising.
I bet it sells fast.
Power : 264 HP (194.304 KW)
Bore : 4.0 in | 102 mm.
Stroke : 3.5 in | 89 mm.
Valve train : 16 OHV (2 valves per cylinder)

The price is not too low. Prices of classic cars are ridiculously inflated right now jsut like everything else. STFU and let someone get a good deal FFS.
Sweet Cougar XR7 Convertible Nick. Priced to sell fast! Love the extra paperwork that comes with the car, nothing like knowing the history of a classic.
Oh yea, at that price it won't be around long!
We had a baby blue 72 Cougar XR7. 351 Cleveland. Light rear end, heavy front end. Went like a missile in a straight line. A bit squirrely in turns or wet roads.
Unfortunately zero corrosion prevention and they rusted out in the wheel wells and rockers within 4 years off the lot.
Wonderful long trip car.
That front facia looks 👌 🔥
I've never been a fan of 71-73 Cougars/Stangs (and I'm a die hard Mustang man), but I like THIS one! The dark green with the Bullitt wheels...Steve McQ would be proud. That gaudy avocado 🥑 70s interior? Love it! Seems like a solid cruiser, great price for a drop top. I might have to consider this one......😁
A very nice example of a unique car! I am a fan of the smaller, earlier models but this is really a very nice looking ride for a pretty reasonable price!
Great project car, so wish I was younger, love these cars
That’s pretty impressive, 50 years old for that price. Thanks for sharing another interesting piece of history!
Thanks for this video, it's well timed! I am trying to establish the value of my Uncle's Cougar, it's also a '73 XR7 Convertible, with a 351 Cleveland, but it has a 4 speed manual transmission. My uncle was the original and only owner, he bought it July 1973. It's yellow with brown interior. Body/ paint wise and interior wise, it's in better shape than this one (he garaged it every winter) but it's been sitting for 2 years and needs a good tune up. It sounds amazing when you turn it over but won't stay running.
So thank you again, this was informative and a good baseline for me to start assessing its value for the estate.
If there's anyone on here that has knowledge to help me out, please feel free to share!
What a sweet ride, with a nice price!
Interior design is amazing 👏
Thank You. Just to see that car made me cry happy tears.
Sweet, I had a 1971 cougar hard top coupe as my first car. Loved it. This one looks sweet!
That thing is tally super nice looking. Super rare as far as setting them at all. Total stock inside locks really clean. I really dig this car and price is super fair. Another car that lower level that you can get into a collector car market or just shows. Awesome driver.. Even tho the inside of an avocado green interior looks wacky but hey it's still cool. Great job Nick n the whole Staff at maple motors. You guys rock..
Your horn button is on the inside of the rim on the steering wheel where you put your to drive It's a cougar pull the turnsignal lever toward you for tilt wheel
Very nice. And a great price. Maple motors🇺🇸👍🏻
Looks like drivers side front fender was replaced with a blue one and painted green. Otherwise, not too bad.
Mercury’s version of the personal luxury vehicle to compete with Thunderbird, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Cutlass.
It was not as popular.
In 73 it was more like a mustang
Excellent presentation. Fantastic vehicle for the price!! I will be looking at this website each week until I see what I want. Actually, as a previous owner of a 67, I would have gone for this one. But, it shows sale pending. No matter. Patience is key. As a side note, I am a musician and I have a home studio with advanced monitors. I swear I can hear kittens mewing in the background. So weird. Or birds chirping.
Lol prolly do
Love that car!
Now that's something you don't see everyday!!
That’s an absolute beautiful color.
All that, & single exhaust!!? But other than that it's a nice car! Just needs some love!
Love them cougars nice find nick I don't know how yall get your hands on them older cars & sell them to the public but nice work Nick 👍 I'm to old to far away & broke .if I've found your lot or web page I would had a couple of them cars yall have if not sold & @ the reasonable price lol keep up the good work young man ✌ from mississippi
Just in case you ever get another one of these in, that has a “Rim blow” steering wheel. Squeeze the rim pressing on the rubber honks the horn.!
Is the plate attached on the underside to keep the body from twisting?. I have had 72 Buick convertibles in the past and never have seen that before....
The prior years were nicer but the 351's are very easy to modify n plenty of parts are available. That looks like it has either rear air shocks or leaf spring work. It needs to have a better stance. But overall nice cars n the value will def go up.
Someone put leaf spring shackles on it I saw them in the drive over .
Hi Nick, I love the Cougar. Not usually a rag top man but would love to own the Cougar.
I love topless cougars, know what I mean?
Very clean car, I liked the 68 69 I believe that they have the hide away head lights, car won't last long 👍 Nick.
Good afternoon nick this is Joseph man l like that cat
The left front fender is off another car the horn is inside the ring around the rim of the wheel it has air shocks and looks like shock extensions and shackles I don't recall you telling us it was a 351 or Cleveland or what it was although I do like the car the wheels are cool looks like it has an oil leak to I like it though
When was the last time ANYone saw one of those in the wild? Pretty rare 40 years ago!
I love cougars my friend had a black 68 ,I loved cruising round in that it was like your driving in a cockpit and not like my 64 Galaxie 2dr hardtop which if your looking for one go to Hudson Bay ,Saskatchewan 🙂✌
Would be an awesome car to restore back to original. Love this body style of Cougar.
Love 💘 the color 😍
Do the gauges float in gas Tank?
Always loved those cougars. Usually a Cutlass girl but only because I couldn't find one of those
i have not seen a cougar in a while very sharp
beautiful car & color, 70's proud even if not muscle era. sweet.
Hi Nick ... very nicr car..... do you have any experience with export to Nicaragua???
Great price for a drop top driver!!
My older brother had a the same car only his was red and a hard top I am thinking of you brother RIP love you men and missed you
Lot of car for the price, really nice. Thank you
I missed the boat on this one. Nice looking Cat convertible with working a/c…definitely my kind of car!
Thats a nice Cougar convert, it runs good and i like the wheels and at a good price !!
The " " cherry pie brought home long week end from Shannon's work from comie store is best cherry pie I ever had, stand in for other cherry in game. It turns out it was 14days not a week old I said before. Yet I ate 2! pieces 1st few bites yet could hve ate 3 this time!
If that had black interior it would look so much better.
One of the coolest looking cars ever made. Only wish i had the money cause id be on it
Nice car n not too well known. But the interior color just kills it. You have some really nice rides.
It's a green metallishi with a two prong Crown!
Sweet car I like it from Harlingen South Texas
I have a Mercury cougar 96 I love it
thanks for showing it
Rims are awesome 👌 👏 😎
The left front fender is blue along the inside edge under the hood. That must not be the original fender for some reason.
Great looking car, lots of leaks on the underside of engine.
I have a 73 mercury cougar xr7 convertible
Might be a Rimblow horn, nice ride great video.
Priced right !!
Ok im biting however, number one thing i do to all my 6 or 8 cylinder vehicles is that i place "Dual exhaust systems" always lets the engine breath & exhale more easily thus helping to get rid of excess heat and actually end up a little better power output & abit better mileage, to boot.
Next id try finding a better custom steering wheel design fitting of this style layout.
Next id go through the entire engine and professionally have it properly cleaned polished & spray copious amounts of WD/40 whete ever i see rusting especially go ahead and change out the Bonnet Hood Springs . Also use spray lubricant sealant 303 on ALL RUBBER mounts, rubber trim, hoses, and convertible top springs & connector pieces.
Then...id take it to Houston Texas and get the interior Customized with all new larger sized Leather bucket seats also make them power adjust both driver & side passenger. Also have customized Leather Door panels also Electric Power Windows.
Then afterwards, id also let the same custom shop (where ZZTop's guitarist Sir Billy Gibbons got a few of his vehicles including that HotRod on the Eliminator Album custom created and their work is beyond belief, too) get them to clean up the whole underside and spray on 3MRubberrized spray coating that helps to tremendously quiet down the vibrations from the car engine exhaust and any Road Vibrations.
Then have the entire car body smoothed over all dents scrapes & uneven surfaces rubbed out then reapply good strong primer and then have this vehicle redone with a Shiny modern new Golden Brown Metallic w glow gloss finish to go with the darker custom leather interior.
Ok thats about it! Ofcourse that would bring an extra $33,000 to the table...but what the heck? This XLR Cougar would be so sick that NOBODY could ignore it! However, a word of extreme caution...DO NOT DRIVE IT around Chicago, LA, Minneapolis, Atlanta Sanfransico or Portland...cause theres too much gang activity in & around these places and they can & will roll right up on you while youre cruising the streets & especially gas stations...and will literally quickly roll up on you while pumping gas or going to pay for it and they will stick their automatic pistol against your door window and tell you to "Get da f#ck out NOW!!" And that will be the last time youll ever see that gorgeous ride again!! Oh yes theyll even do that to you & your wife or girlfriend even at an intersection of your choosing in these cities too!!
I actually think theyre pulling this sh#t off in LasVegas too!!?? (@@) so becareful folks if youre cruising roundbin your Ferraris Lamborghinis Vettes & any outstanding vehicles where you have see thru glass or Convertible Down on any of these vehicles!!
Real good price on this one...clean!
For the first time. I can say that car is a keeper. If I had the money it would be bought!!!!
Wow that's a very cool convertible
The engine sound good
Awesome car Nick! All them bring back a lot of memories and good times!
Love the car nick but hate the color lol. I feel in love with those cars after I watched from dust till dawn.
Bring back mercurys!
I had a 73 Cougar XR7.....miss that car!
Shame it's not a standard transmission.
If I was only closer... nice car Nick. Will definitely not last long on the lot.
14.9 thats a bargain! and the left turn signal may just be a brake light burnt out!
Fuc$ around! 15k😳? One word; WOW! I'm diggin it.
Rare 2nd gen Mercury Cougar in a convertible can't bet that needs a paint redo for sure current paint job on it looks like it was done 30 years ago.
The horn is on the RIM of the steering wheel.
Very nice car thanks for another great video
Nice car! And it looks like the rim-blow got ya XD. Im sure someone has said it already. lol. I bet someone could daily that car.
Nice car....I think some of these cougars came with a rim blow horn and it even looks like this one had it.....just sayin', didn't see you try that.
That's really a pretty clean car a bargain at 15k
I was comment 148 & my brothers post date b/day. The length of video is 3, 555 long though.
love me some cougar.....oh, cars
It was just a matter of time before you came up with a car I'd really want. This is a 7 out of 10 for me, stupid economy, stupid inflation. Maybe next time Nick. 1st generation Monte Carlo or 2nd generation Cougar are high on my bucket list...👍
BRANDON KILLS ANOTHER DREAM
Ha! Rim blow horn got ya!! Love your videos!
Nice price
I don't believe I have ever seen one of these!!!

Is this a Cleveland or Windsor 351?
