I shoot with my kit lens on a canon SL2, as well as a nifty fifty, that set up is enough for me right now. I'm saving up some money to buy a variable ND filter for video shooting. This hobby ain't cheap EDIT: nobody is gonna tell if you shot with a kit lens, if the photo is well composed and edited you'll be just fine with your kit lens. Plus, people get more impressed and see more skill when you have a zoom lens simply 'cz it looks cooler
Super content thank you. I'm just getting to grips with the kit lens. I was looking at 3rd party cheap f1.7 lens, too exposed even with ND filter plus I had too many things to think about now as well as automated functions becoming redundant. I realised the limitation was me. Went out for a couple of hours with the kit and returned with some nice shots. Took my time and noticed what I was doing and what the results of that was. In love with my M50 again. I'm sorry we rowed.
Well said Joris! Knowing, understanding and optimising the limitations will give us a decent result though not perfect compared to high end gears. Some experimenting like you did will help us to know our gears better. Keep it flowing Bro! 👊😎
not super related to the video but I currently have the 15-35Rf and the RF 35mm 1.8 for my R. and the 35mm 1.8 macro is the BEST lens ever. super versatile with the half macro capabilities and portraits, to street snaps, and lightweight, awesome for video as well.(and it's the cheapest RF lens) I hope you end up loving it much as I do.
No, at the moment I'm using the 22mm. The downside to that one is that it slims my face depending on how close to the camera I am... never gonna be perfect 😁
It’s only a problem if you make it a problem 😊 It is kinda old, though. Isn’t it like almost ten years old? 🤔 still, doesn’t matter. I’m still using an iPhone 6 and will only buy a new one if it dies...
@@JorisHermans It is a 2011 camera and i only realized how limiting it is when i started to really learn about photography and videography. I am torn between getting a dslr or a mirrorless camera but i am sure that i want a full frame. I want a camera that is going to stay with me for years.
Who shoots with a kit lens? Thanks for watching, guys! 👊🏻🔥
I do :) by the way, congratulations for your channel, I do enjoy your videos :)
Thanks, much appreciated! 🙏🏻
I use my 18-55 all the time :) Great walkaround.
astudios Exactly my point 😊 Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻
Until I get better at it, I will only use my M50 with the kit lens, then I will get one the Sigma 16mm f/1.4

I bought a cheap one that does a great job. Less than £20 I think......amazon obs....I like long exposures.

I’m really glad I bought it. Can’t wait for my R5 to arrive and give it a little spin! 😎
I use kit lens on my canon m6 + variable ND filter to get some blurry background :)
Yep, ND filters help too!! 🙏🏻
Good video...I have a DX 18-140mm kit lens on a NIKON DX camera and it is fine for outdoor and landscape where there is plenty of light
Great video, very informative, by the way I love my 15-45mm Kit lens. I have the 22mm but prefer to shoot with the kit lens more often
And nothing wrong with that, Jeff! Like I said, not a bad lens, just misunderstood 😉 like most kit lenses...
Joris Hermans I have a question, do you usually use the 15-45 for talking head videos?
No, at the moment I'm using the 22mm. The downside to that one is that it slims my face depending on how close to the camera I am... never gonna be perfect 😁
Joris Hermans Very true, I usually shoot at my desk, so it’s really difficult to use the 22mm at this very moment. I love using for shooting vlogs
I use my kit lens most of the time since I can't afford to buy new lenses. LOL but it's true, the kit lens is also a powerful lens
i am the first one who watch your video and i am owner of M50 so thanks a lot for the BEST info
Thanks, man! 🙏🏻🔥
Very descriptive thank you for the video nice work
Congrats on 10k sir
i did review on hand shooting model on the beach using kit lens.. preety good actually
Ocky Misa photography 💯! 🙏🏻🔥
What is the best efm lens for cinematic b roll?? Especially for travel films
I think i have a bigger problem. I still use a nikon d3100 😂
