- 👉 People who engage in activities that involve repetitive hip rotation, such as running, cycling, or rowing, may be more susceptible to piriformis pain.
👉 Symptoms of piriformis pain may include pain or numbness in the buttocks, pain that radiates down the back of the leg, and difficulty sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
👉 By releasing tension in the piriformis muscle, static cupping may improve hip range of motion and reduce stiffness and pain in the affected area.
Piriformis syndrome occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed by the piriformis muscle. It is a neuromuscular disorder which is relatively uncommon. It is usually characterised by pain, numbness or tingling in the buttocks region. There may be a dull ache or tenderness too. In some cases the pain can be extreme and refer down the length of the sciatic nerve and into the leg (also known as sciatica). Pain can be triggered when climbing the stairs, lifting heavy objects, sitting for long periods of time or even running.
Cupping can increase blood flow to the area, which can help to reduce muscle tension and promote healing. Static cupping may improve hip range of motion and reduce stiffness and pain, by releasing tension in the piriformis.

I thot we weren’t supposed to stretch the muscle there if it’s already loose? Doesn’t that cause it to pinch the nerve more?
Awesome thank you!!!!

The Piriformis is tight entrapping the sciatic nerve, which is why it needs to be released.
