Such a great and valuable podcast, it was cool to see that Dan had majored in CM while at university, like myself. Definitely a level I aspire to reach

It’s great to put a face behind Blackbriar. Im also in the LA area and have heard of these guys.
Great interview! Really learned a lot from big guys like yourself and really does give insight on how the big boys do business.

Thank you for this! This really helps out and provides soo much knowledge! I really really reaaallly want to get into construction business. Ive been doing general construction and just started working for a landscaping construction company since i was 15 (now 25 yeard old) I can say i am a beast of the field. But i really desire to get into the business side of things or management. Thanks again bro!

I’d like to see his breakdown of numbers, if they’re only charging 10%gp, that is disastrous, that can’t be right Jesse?? I always try to make at least 50% gp so overhead is covered after the cost to produce the actual job.

      It’s a $60,000,000+ job though…

    Fixed price>cost plus
Cost plus being "safe" is simply not realistic. It opens the door for massive confusion depending on the client.

It seems like fixed price would be worse for the end buyer due to the necessary conservative overhead projections

It depends on the contractor, but yes you are right.
At the end of the day though any contract can be manipulated in a way that is not good for the customer.
Cost plus can have "surprises", and fixed cost can sold low to inferior quality subs.
The integrity of the contractor is what a client needs to look for more importantly than contract type.@@AK-rza
