    I can see my channel getting big, but never been intrested in doing sponsered stuff, I want to try to keep it "real" and it's about me.

    I think my advice to Lamb Chops was keep it as it is. Spread the income risks and take the salary/pension from his well paid IT job.
    Unfortunately do anything to upset UA-cam and they can demonitise you in an instant.
    As for Moto Bob. He gets the early stories and manufacturer access by working with companies.
    This is going to influence what he says. Most UA-cam reviews have a degree of this going on in my humble opinion.
    How do you find a truely independent, unbiased review? Even owner reviews can be biased because that owner spent their money on that product and don’t want to admit they made a mistaken purchase.
    Saying all that, I still like and watch him.

      I guess I see having a bias to being a little different than questioning their integrity.

    John, AKA Chopsy has an awesome UA-cam channel, and really knows his stuff... As for going full time UA-cam... that is a tough call as he earns ok wages already, so to match that on a YT income, would be hard work... be rewarding though. When retired, it is a lot easier as it doesn't effect your income, but when earning, you have to be realistic. Also, and no offence to anyone, once you hit 60+ you lose some relevance to younger 20 something riders no matter on experience and knowledge, so I see why he wants to do it now rather than later.
    I wish him luck in what ever he chooses to do. He really is a lovely bloke.
    I've seen a few channels recently making vids singing the praises of items or brands that sponsor them... The fact they are sponsored by them shows exactly how much weight you should give to the review... sadly, it could be a hugely honest and factual review, but if it is paid for by the company, I'll not really give it any attention... same as Fortnine, with their terrible Insta360 advertising, it puts me off the brand more than anything, just like when RUROC gave a wedge of helmets to influencers on Instagram etc... they lost all credibility with me as they became a "try hard" rather than a respected brand... what racers wear a Ruroc on track?

      Thanks for the response and no offense taken. I don't take 20 somethings too seriously when they say that what they are reviewing is the best bike of all time either.😆😆
      I try to keep an open mind on what is being said if they bring the receipts no matter what the hair color or none at all. I try and keep on learning and hopefully some of mistakes I've shared may help a younger rider.

      @@flatcapcaferacer absobloominlutely, at 20, they know nothing! 😁
      I'm gonna hit 50 this year, and can see from my analytics that barely any of my audience are younger than me. But then I don't really make content that would appeal to the young'uns 😄

    • @flatcapcaferacer
      @flatcapcaferacer  3 місяці тому +1

      @HippoDrones I think a lots of the rides you do would be interesting to younger riders and cuts across age divisions if they found your content.
      What and how you ride doesn't really have a age number on it, perhaps some folks prefer watching someone closer to their age does.

    • @HippoDrones
      @HippoDrones 3 місяці тому +1

      @@flatcapcaferacer I guess... Although I think UA-cam suggests content to similar demographics, so unless I find an untapped supply of younger viewers, my audience will just get older and older 😆

    I’ll never be big enough to have to worry about making any money, or being offered sponsorships, but I don’t blame people who take them on. No, I don’t want to see a long advertisement for a product, but I’m also not going to make negative comments. If I don’t like what’s happening in the video, it takes a second to click off, and move on….

      Thanks Patrick. I might challenge the facts of what UA-camr puts out if it is way way wrong but I don't feel comfortable taking a shot at his motivation for saying it. Like you said just click off of it.

      @@flatcapcaferacer Agreed. If you know it’s way wrong, and misleading, I get saying something then, otherwise, I’m just on to the next one!!

    Everyone has a choice which way to go in life and I'm sure that Lamb Chops will make the right descision for himself to suit his own personal circiumstances and needs in life. For me UA-cam is just a bit of fun along the way, would never consider it as any kind of income. But everyone is different and that's what makes life intersting. Thanks for your thoughts Jerry, gets you thinking though.

    LCR is becoming more and more less impartial, I used to enjoy his hooning reviews where he thrashed a bike then told you his likes/dislikes. Sadly as his channel has become more commercial and he's glossing over his dislikes in to give more favourable reviews. IMHO he'd be a fool to give up the security of his job, on the other hand his new garage was entirely built and fitted out by sponsors, ultimately the choice is his.
    MTB likewise has become a Spewer of manufacturers spouts, impartiality goes out the window when your bought and paid for by your sponsors. Sorry Jerry but I have to agree with those challenging his integrity, as I have done so myself. He started reviewing bikes without even sitting on them let alone riding them, sometimes before they were even in production. I challenged him over this as during lock down when rubber wasn't hitting showroom floors and there were no demonstrators available, many people had regrettable purchases based upon biased reviews. I now don't watch either of them unless I want specs on a new bike. I much prefer ownership reviews where often a bikes flaws are revealed, at least by those upset not to have discovered such faults prior to purchase.

      Michael I appreciate hearing your opinion and your words carry weight to me. I'd like to believe success doesn't change people too much and I hope both of these channels don't disappoint their viewers and subscribers as it sounds like they have for you.
      I will pay closer attention going forward but I'll admit to being a soft touch. Thanks for commenting and please keep giving your input.

      @@flatcapcaferacer Thanks Jerry I also have the utmost respect for yourself with your broad based knowledge and experience of motorcycles and value your input to my own channels. I was a regular viewer of both of these Motovloggers valuing their informative reviews, but as they became more commercial I began to almost resent their lack of self opinion. My reservations apply to nearly every main stream reviewer, as they all seem to bow to their sponsors. Without question I will continue to give my dimes worth on your channel from both of mine, it is thanks to you I learned how to switch from one to the other.
