For example, seeing the film as an AI exercise can lead to a series of "what happens next" moments. In contrast, knowing something about Hitchcock's "ice blondes" can create a sense of mystery that runs both within, and parallel to the narrative.

You are the firts AI filmmaker I've encountered so far that takes this thing seriously. I see you have some education, formal or informal, doesn't matter in this day and age. At one hand machine learning, through it's superior sensibility, is the ultimate impressionism, that is capable to improvise on all the surface aspects of the image without giving much weight to the logic of it. Instead of a face, we get an impression of a face, instead of a hand movement, a approximation of a hand movement. That's how I locate this technique. On other hands, as all major technological breakthroughs in art - it's the highest form of mockery. That is why especially 2D artists hate it so much. It's the multidimensional crooked mirror. And as all the generations before us learned how to live with this mockery, despite all the efforts of iconoclasts to prohibit any representation, all the offended puritans to ban the most intimate images, like pornography, from collective consciousness, we will be able, possibly faster then any population before, to incorporate and enjoy this mockery as part of our culture. After all the language of images is mostly very primitive. There is still little actual artistic thought behind most so called "art pieces", that's why they are so easy to mimic. There is also general lack of artistic "language" or "consciousness" in society to read art, distinguish mindless reproduction aided by visual cortex, from actual philosophically and experientially rooted pieces of cultural significance, which should orient our way of feeling, looking, hearning. I truly believe AI will bring about a necessity for an intellectual renaissance, just like the re-discovery of magnificence of ancient art in XV cent. mobilised the art world to at least match the skill and depth of the old masters. In a sense we still live in this post-medieval world where morality, and moral logic, no longer are valued, where the stupidity of natural phenomena based on physical principles of inertia, repetition, mechanical chains of cause-and-effect are accepted as status quo. The very intellectual and moral void that supports all natual phenomena is the most common ideology, even in all religions, putting nature as the model of bahviour, as the measure to all our inventions, values, dreams. No wonder this world is uber-nihilist, to the point I can barely experience any actual existence in my life, it is so enslaved by these brutal laws of mechanical economy, stupidity of all my surroundings, beginning from the abhorrent prison like architecture of concrete blocks, to the very concrete, repetitive, boring, animal like minds of the poeple around me, which language rarely exceeds the function of some animal call, expression of emotional or physiological state. Reminds me of a film in the 80’s called “Looker”. More of a tongue in cheek type film. Same premise were one guy selling to the entertainment industry that they didn’t need real people, just computer generated one at fraction of the cost.
AI characters being struck by the uncanny valley when seeing an apparition of ....a mannequin, which is also a representation of a real human. And the 'girl' is horrified by it, as it appears like an apparition out of a David Lynch film. That's like a double entendre .....from an AI. There's more layers to this story than most would realise. What an amazing and enlightening piece of fiction. I read a lot of hard sci-fi, so I don't find it hard to visualize where we will be with AI in a century from now. But, what life will be like in a world with unfettered AI in 20 to 50 years is completely beyond my ability to grasp in anything but the broadest strokes. There really is an approaching Singularity....I hope it really is the start of a true Golden Age.

I agree. AI film making is a distinct and very different area of film. It's perfect for fantasy and short film, but I don't think it will ever replace the full length feature. Let's face it, for that it would be quicker to shoot in the traditional way.

You are the firts AI filmmaker I've encountered so far that takes this thing seriously. I see you have some education, formal or informal, doesn't matter in this day and age.
At one hand machine learning, through it's superior sensibility, is the ultimate impressionism, that is capable to improvise on all the surface aspects of the image without giving much weight to the logic of it.
Instead of a face, we get an impression of a face, instead of a hand movement, a approximation of a hand movement.
That's how I locate this technique.
On other hands, as all major technological breakthroughs in art - it's the highest form of mockery. That is why especially 2D artists hate it so much. It's the multidimensional crooked mirror.
And as all the generations before us learned how to live with this mockery, despite all the efforts of iconoclasts to prohibit any representation, all the offended puritans to ban the most intimate images, like pornography, from collective consciousness, we will be able, possibly faster then any population before, to incorporate and enjoy this mockery as part of our culture.
After all the language of images is mostly very primitive. There is still little actual artistic thought behind most so called "art pieces", that's why they are so easy to mimic.
There is also general lack of artistic "language" or "consciousness" in society to read art, distinguish mindless reproduction aided by visual cortex, from actual philosophically and experientially rooted pieces of cultural significance, which should orient our way of feeling, looking, hearning.
I truly believe AI will bring about a necessity for an intellectual renaissance, just like the re-discovery of magnificence of ancient art in XV cent. mobilised the art world to at least match the skill and depth of the old masters.
In a sense the ancient art mocked the medieval man with it's excellence, that it was able to challenge the entire cultural mindset of the day, not mention - bring money and prestige to the merchants, which rediscovered the vile technology of lending money for profit above all other ways to become powerful.
In a sense we still live in this post-medieval world where morality, and moral logic, no longer are valued, where the stupidity of natural phenomena based on physical principles of inertia, repetition, mechanical chains of cause-and-effect are accepted as status quo. The very intellectual and moral void that supports all natual phenomena is the most common ideology, even in all religions, putting nature as the model of bahviour, as the measure to all our inventions, values, dreams.
No wonder this world is uber-nihilist, to the point I can barely experience any actual existence in my life, it is so enslaved by these brutal laws of mechanical economy, stupidity of all my surroundings, beginning from the abhorrent prison like architecture of concrete blocks, to the very concrete, repetitive, boring, animal like minds of the poeple around me, which language rarely exceeds the function of some animal call, expression of emotional or physiological state.
And the ultimate religion of "saving mother nature" and the entire pseudoscientific cult of "climate change", are the perfect examples of this horrific nihilism, of this theology of "keeping things the way they are" - repetition lifted to the ultimate moral principle, debt as the main mechanism of of control (the carbon debt), the insane murderous ideology of equilibrium, introduced to our culture as byproduct of Newtonian calculus, that directly counters every experience and sensibility.
Truly they were all re-invented during renaissance as the tools of enslavement.
A renaissance King was bestowed by god with the mission to "defend" land from the "horde of commoners". Today King Charles defends "climate", his predecessors defended "Kingdom of god". The reasoning is exactly the same - they have perfect excuse to enslave people.
The rationale for his violence is the ideological "necessity" to bring his imaginary harmonious religious kingdom of god (imaginary harmonious climate equilibrium) to this earth, to prevent people from being themselves, and rather make them slaves to this religious vision of perfect serenity, but truly being an excuse to feed upon human work and life, kill and plunder and all the splendid deeds of a truly accomplished monarch, or at least steal through various economic schemes, using banks rather then swords.
I only wish the superior mockery of AI art will lift people from ther primitive self-congratulation with the insect-like automated horror society they created, and truly bring back logic to morality, and morality to logic.
After all only human mind has proven in history (no matter how rare it actually occured) a capability of being the source of reason, of beauty, or moral justice. Let us believe in one another, in the miracle of freedom that gets born with every child. Let us prevent enslavement of our next generation, not by AI, but by ourselves.

Reminds me of a film in the 80’s called “Looker”. More of a tongue in cheek type film. Same premise were one guy selling to the entertainment industry that they didn’t need real people, just computer generated one at fraction of the cost.

AI characters being struck by the uncanny valley when seeing an apparition of ....a mannequin, which is also a representation of a real human. And the 'girl' is horrified by it, as it appears like an apparition out of a David Lynch film. That's like a double entendre .....from an AI. There's more layers to this story than most would realise. What an amazing and enlightening piece of fiction.
I read a lot of hard sci-fi, so I don't find it hard to visualize where we will be with AI in a century from now. But, what life will be like in a world with unfettered AI in 20 to 50 years is completely beyond my ability to grasp in anything but the broadest strokes. There really is an approaching Singularity....I hope it really is the start of a true Golden Age.

I agree. AI film making is a distinct and very different area of film. It's perfect for fantasy and short film, but I don't think it will ever replace the full length feature. Let's face it, for that it would be quicker to shoot in the traditional way.
