hey, I've got a question: you mentioned that everything is going to be on NG+ and above. does that actually matter? like, I can still participate if my character hasnt gone to new game plus right?
Wow. With that first invasion I thought maybe this was a lv 40 build since you were in Stormveil, and especially after the phantom and host hp. Then you open the menu and reveal you're 125 XD
@@theurge6183 You don't have to be a pro when you outnumber an opponent. This guy, dangitjm, he even points out that you really don't need to be the best of the best to kill hosts or invaders.
I recently started using a standard light bow in PVP because you inspired me, Jm. It's my poison ninja's main weapon (and it's suuuuuper fun!), while I keep the Serpentbone katana sheathed until melee is no longer an option. It's only tangentially related to the video, but I thought you'd like to hear you inspired someone!
A lovely set of invasions. I’m very partial to the Ornamental too - but greatbows are gonna have to join the list. I had no idea Golem Greatarrows had that special wind AoE, that’s fantastic. Thanks for sharing the good word!
I love greatbows in this game and as i mentioned in stream chat, it's almost painful to see how they get even better with arrows that are both farm-restricted *and* have an abysmal drop rate for a consumable item. So i've mostly stuck to ballistae for long-range explosive delivery, while mostly using greatbows to play a game of setting up a shot at lock-on range and watching what people will do. For anyone interested: This allows you to counter a lot of ranged attacks (pretty much any attack that locks the character in place as well as some that have limited mobility), and "pseudo-parry" people who try to run circles around you to go for melee, since all of your attacks will also either knock them down or heavy-stagger on headshots. The recovery after shots is much faster on GBs than on ballistae so you can set up another shot while they're getting up. Trying to attack mid-air will not loose an arrow like with lighter bows, but it *will* set up a shot when you land, which gives you some extra mobility paired with jumping. When fighting multiple people, you can also trick them by unlocking after readying an arrow, which leaves your character model pointed in one direction, while you're free to control your camera and quickly lock-on to someone while they think they're sneaking up on you from behind. Readied greatbows have a much faster turn-rate than readied ballistae, so locking onto someone who's behind you and about to attack is more viable. Also, i'm pretty positive the Spear Talisman works here because arrows and bolts deal pierce damage.
you gotta wonder why fromsoft put so many cool ammo types in the game and then went "yeah, make this one cost 800 runes every shot" or "make these ones drop 5% of the time from some random miniboss, and only 5 at a time" also, holy shit 18:14, cleanbro takes no prisoners. and props to bald mamba for holding on so well thereafter in the shittiest situation imaginable
Me: "Oh boy, I can't wait to recreate my Millwood Greatbow build from DS3 in an open world setting!" From: "Yeahhhh, about that..." Hey, at least the ballistae and shield cannon are a great addition for us ranged users
@@somechinesedude5466 the cost is... fine, for pvp after you've beaten the game and can abuse the albinauric farming spot. you don't use that many of them anyway. but you just can't use them in a normal playthrough. why blow 16000 souls for twenty attacks, when you could buy a whole level-up instead and fight with literally anything else?
@@the_Red_Star I mean, if you plan your build properly, you can get to the end set of statistics you need and focus on your ammo/consumables a bit faster. It's not a whole-game kind of thing, I'll give you that, but to be fair...when is any build a whole game thing?
I love GBs but hadn't tried out Golem GB with the golem arrows b/c of the farming grind but now I gotta try it. A few cool tricks with GBs that I've found through using them: The Golden Great Arrows can be used to buff yourself or your allies if you shoot close to them. You can shoot the ground at your feet or a quickly approaching enemy to give your self a quick boost before getting into melee combat. Roped Pots are a great help when an enemy decides to get aggressive. roped lightning pots (in water) or roped volcano pots are a great way to stun or scare enemies off you and give you some time to get another shot off. Certain weapons and weapon skills also are a great deterrent for people trying to get up close and personal. Any weapon with the storm stomp ash of war is a great soft swap from the GB, and the Stormhawk Axe is excellent with it's guaranteed 3 hit AoE. And finally, great arrows have a guaranteed hit stun over everything except super armor attacks (iirc). Great for knocking down people that lean on poise too heavily.
Also try Spark Aromatic if you haven't already. Farm for it's crafting is not too bad and it gives you a surprise quick (and strong) attack while two-handing an unreadied greatbow.
Great Invasions! Happy I caught the last few on stream, gives me a few ideas for a quality build. I wrote off great-bows early on and will happily admit that I was so dead wrong about them. Sadly, all the best arrows have to be farmed but that never stopped me before, so it won't stop me now. This is such a good showcase on just how good those weapons can be.
I mean do we realy need rpg arrows when we got actual cannons now? Ok if i put it that way it does sound kinda dumb because an rpg is a modern machine and a cannon is well a cannon but you get what in saying

Oh man, why oh why can't we buy those Golem Arrows or at least craft them ourselves!? Also love the fashion, that was my fashion too when I first played the game because I couldn't find any knightly armor sets for such a long time and I randomly got that "British Soldier" lookin-ass hate which works quite well with the Vagabond set.
To be fair though, if you look at the duelling scene at 125 and tourneys... they're ALL melee. Look at the "arena" they use... the bias is so obvious. 125 is good if you happen to use weapon/stats that scale much better even if lower. Not everyone has that luxury.
