TrainingPeaks is a platform for professional and serious amateur athletes. The new developments of TrainingPeaks Virtual will take this path and will give coaches and athletes more professional tools to improve their training. Zwift will be used in the future mostly by general fitness crowd and those wannabe racer-poser-cheaters.
Insane a newly launched piece of software wanting to charge the same price as the competitor market leader. I tried Indievelo and it was okay for free but definitely not worth the upcoming $20 price tag.
I’d agree. I think if they were to launch an indievelo only subscription at a lower cost ~$10, it could be a compelling option. I think it appeals more to the riders who already pay that fee and use training peaks (there’s a very large userbase on training peaks, and indievelo could draw those overlapping folks who don’t want to keep paying double)
I believe the value proposition here is particularly strong for existing TrainingPeaks users, many of whom are already using Zwift. The seamless integration with IndieVelo, allowing users to easily access and follow training plans, is a great feature. While this may not appeal to casual Zwift users who aren’t focused on structured training, it’s still a smart acquisition strategy.
I did a race with a 50 “person” pen. Pretty sure only 8 of us were people. The HR delta between average and max was consistently 5 to 7 bpm among everyone else. In my last 40 Zwift races my HR delta matched that just 3 times! I wish you could tell who are bots.
I haven't looked so, pardon my ignorance. I'd be interested in iV if they had a lap button. Not necessarily for recording laps, but to segment data during my rides. I do it when I'm out on my outside bike so, it'd be nice to have indoor.
The racing component is the real difference between Z and iV(TPV). Yes the anti-cheating protocols are table stakes but there is way more to discuss. indieVelo built a racing first platform. Zwift was never built for racing and its on a bespoke gaming engine. indieVelo has better physics engine, more tactical racing, dynamic (and automatic based on multiple points of physiology and who is registered for the race) categories, and thanks to bots full races every single time. Zwift and MyWhoosh cannot compete with how good the racing is on indieVelo. Its not even close. Thats why alot of us are worried this will be another RGT.

TP IS not Wahoo. They have history of making long term and very well thought decisions. Not like Wahoo....
