- Hi, Guys today i am going to show you how to make portable generator Engine REPAIR.This is a basic how to on troubleshooting the carburetor on a harbor freight or small generator engine.
You may have a problem if bad gas sits in the carburetor a long time or you have dirt in the gas.
Then you will need to take apart the carburetor and clean out the dirt. Portable generators.
Generator won't start, runs unevenly, or won't stay running? This video provides information on how a portable generator works and offers troubleshooting tips to assist you in diagnosing and repair.
These all problems are going to fix in this series of videos.
Here is a list of the most commonly replaced parts associated with each generator symptom:
Engine leaks gas: carburetor gasket, float bowl gasket, fuel tank, fuel line, carburetor, fuel shut-off
Engine won't start: spark plug, carburetor, ignition coil, recoil starter, start switch, safety switch, on-of switch, flywheel key
Generator stops after a few seconds: Fuel cap, carburetor
Engine runs poorly: Carburetor, carburetor repair kit, spark plug, fuel filter

Hi, not sure if you are gonna reply now that this vid is 5 years old, but I'm working on my graduation project, basically remodelling a similar generator (almost the same, just a different manufacturer) and I wanted to ask how does the cam mechanism work (I assume its to time the air intake)? Does it work based on centripital force acting on the tiny weights connected to the crankshaft?

If the reading and ratings are same it doesn't matter rectangular or cylindrical.

So far I saw just a disassembly and reassembling with same parts just a bit more grease.

My year old only used for 1/2 hour will not put out any voltage, I put a new capacitor in and it still wont put out any volts, whats the problem.
Check the wires that came from stator winding may be any of wire would damage if not so the problem is in the stator's winding.Thank You!
Bro my governor not working on my 950w generator. It's not lowering the idle when a machine not in use. And it's not increasing when load is applied.
What is the part number of the flywheel key? I think mine may be sheared, as I get a lot of kickback when pulling the starter rope.

Man nobody shows the proper removal and install of the piston but I think I will get it by watching other installs. Part one shows it still attached to the rod then the beginning of this video it's already removed.
