This custom-built double-neck (conventional six-string neck in the lower position combined with a twelve-string neck weighs just 10.50 lbs. Both necks are one-piece mahogany and have a nut width of 1 9/16 inches and a medium-to-thick profile. Four "patent-number" humbucker pickups. Each pickup with a black label ("Patent No. 2,737,842") on the underside and with outputs of 7.40k and 7.53k on the six-string guitar and outputs of 7.49k and 8.61k on the twelve-string guitar. One of just 4 guitars built in 1966. Housed in the original Gibson black rectangular hardshell case with yellow/orange plush lining (9.00). A great rarity
I can't believe you went from Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath to Stone Temple Pilots! Great Demo none the less!
what a voice, he is a great performer! Wonderful guitar player and a really versatile singer!
Agreed. There's an Epiphone one in a store window in my town. I went in and got them to take it down so I could play "Stairway," on it. It was satisfying.
dood you're definatly jack blacks skinny long lost twin and just couldnt resist stairway to heaven. keep rockin out man
I was thinking "if he doesnt play stairway, i am disowning him".
BEAUTIFUL 1275.........as unique as this guitar is, shouldn't be too hard to trace it's history. Sounds amazing....thanks for the light-hearted(FUN) demo, Phil!
@Tatertoot9 Please check out our full description - it will answer all your questions about this guitar.
@ClockworkFacility1 Yes, you could. Also, if you leave both necks open, you'll get some sympathetic string resonance through the body, which sounds very nice and chimey.
I'm in love! This guitar is just amazing!
Dam i never seen an double neck sg in that sun burst finish its a beauty
A 12-string guitar is actually 6 pairs of two strings each. The lower 4 are tuned an octave apart, and the upper strings are tuned exactly the same. The result is a sound like no normal guitar.
@BRflaNk please check out our website for more details!! :)
@WOMD94
Oh God....
That's the end part to Stairway to Heaven...
No offense, but if you're watching anything to do with guitar or music in general, you should be able to recognize that. One of the best songs ever written. EVER.
Rock on
This guy absolutely loves what he does. How awesome.
You have the best guitar reviews up right now.
"NO STAIRWAY!" just kiddin, my god do you play stairway beautiful and clean!!!
that might be the most beautifuul guitar too!
"I wish my beer was as cold as yer heart" by The Drills
he looks so happy!
this might be the best looking guitar i have ever seen
@AF1o2 stairway to heaven dude, it's impossible not to know that song...
you sir are very talented
this is the guitar that god uses
Wow you played three of my favorite bands in one 6 min segment, Zep, Rush, and Sabbath.
there's a vid of a different dbl neck where i do just that. when you strum the one neck, you hear the strings on the other neck vibrate and resonate. it's pretty cool if it's tuned right.
@ELECTRICguitarDUDE79 I'm Canadian too. I just said that because alot of people seem to think we live in igloos and that we have snow year round
They have an EP due out soon!!
Go to the drills myspace page and yell at Phil! :)
"And the fingers don't fit, man! How did he do this live?!" I fell out of my chair laughing! Not because of what he said, but because of how he said it. lol Rock on, man! \m/ >_< \m/
@zed0469 The studio version was recorded on a Fender Electric XII and a Fender Telecaster.
thank-you for playing some rush! totally unexpected but thank-you!
His singing reminds me of Jack Black sometimes. Cool video, as always!
This guy is a total badass.
MOST BEAUTIFUL GUITAR EVER!
i love this guy. he's so fun to watch haha
Definetly, Phil, you make people want to play guitar!
I heard somewhere that talent is a good thing to have.
Powder is available on itunes!
They have two Killer CD's check it out!!
Download "GO" just to wet your interest!
Esa guitarra es mágica!! tiene un sonido increible.
why are you not famous?!?!?! D: your voice is amazing, you rock at the guitar, and when you see you, you just thinks "AWSOME"
that would sound awesome with some vintage strat pups. those humbuckers have a wierd clean voicing.
COOL!!!! Jz one question though: why gibson put a neck selector switch? i know it is to choose which neck is active but why not let both neck be active? isnt it a waste of space?
im canadain too i love the double neck gibson i want one soo bad
the flower design looks like a Kent guitar i`ve since i was a kid....that`s a cool double neck for sure....what kind of strings and gauge on the 12 string ?
Just wondering can u put neck selector switch in the middle so both necks can be used if u know wat i mean?
Beautiful Axe~
how do you play a 12-string? like do you play it the same as a 6-string but just hold down 2 strings?
yes. The neck is usually inordinately thick though, and there is tons of problem with tuning, action, and intonation; but for rhythm guitar nothing beats it.
Dude come to Portland, OR with the Drills!
that guitar is now worth more because PhilX played it.
oh man, led zep, sabbath and stone temple pilots. thanks for making my day Phil!
@MrPinkZeppelin this is about your comment on the les paul sg special video ... its pending on that video for some reason but at 4:49 he playing funky town
phil X is very talented i like his voice
Nice Stairway phil. good tunage
i'm in love with a guitar :D
Rush vocs are tough, heh. Awesome gootar too!
Where the fingers don't fit? LOL The original solo was recorded on his "Dragon" Telecaster.
Awesome machine!!
@dudejoe64. He's in both bands.
its 'fairies wear boots'
its on the paranoid album
the last track
i love the theme thing
I wish I could play like him...
Do you have any original recorded stuff ?
@thabilas yea...they could be in some movie as like brothers in a band or something
the most beutiful guitar i have ever seen
what about being sworn brothers with jack black?
what was the first sabbath song he played
that thing sounds fucking awesome
frettedamericana couldnt have picked a better person for the job.
cool guitar
@leatherneck1093 I cant decide if your comment was meant to be an insult or a complement about Phil's guitar playing ability.
@Tatertoot9 read the description right below the video....
Hey man, I was just wundering of you could answer me this question: I have not so much money, plus I'm saving up to a car and apartment, but I would like to buy an Epiphone eds, so do you think that is a waste of money, or should I wait and save up money for a Gibson eds?? Thanks =)
what Sabbath song is he playing before War Pigs?
You guys have had more than 1/6th of all of the EDS 1275s.
Page played it one octave lower when playing live
DANG this video is old, and i think maybe jimmy page could've hit those high high notes easier cuz he had REALLY long fingers
5:45 I can't figure out the song name! It's going to bug me.... And this is the most beautiful guitar ever.
he looks like that kid from ned's declassified school survival guide
'i wish my beer was as cold as your heart'
rofl
dude youre awesome.... but where can i buy one of those here in toronto?
"Fairies wear boots"
it's just so beautiful :)
God I love ya Phil X :D 18 strings... kinda PITA to tune.... but if you do... YEAAH! :D
"i....i think i love it..yeah. okay!" haha i love phil x
what is that first black sabbath song he played?
@KirkTheGod Having it down below makes it less likely to switch guitars accidentally mid-strum...
Now that's one guy who IS ALLOWED to play "Stairway" in music stores! LOL!
@HedMadHop One OCTAVE? Do you mean a half-step down tuning? Cause one OCTAVE down would make the guitar like unplayable!
i wouldnt be surprised if he had a stack of letters asking him to join peoples bands.
I Love this guitar. How much cost?
Wings' guitarist James McCulloch(?) used one of those.
forget the "like" button,
WHERE"S THE EPIC BUTTON!?!?!
If you watch jimmy play stairway to heaven live he plays the end of the solo around the fifth fret not the 17th. He probably had the same problem
@grainin93 Epiphone make fantastic guitars man. The main difference is psychological. If I bought the Epi I'd be reallly happy with it and never look back but some people gotta have Gibson on the headstock so, you'know. :)
lol...my pinky don't fit man...how do I do this line
haha...lol epic!!!
this guy is funny
what is the name of the song by 4:10 ?
what's the song name in the beigining?
what's the song of the intro ?
Phil X said, "how did he play it live."
what drills song is at the intro?
@TitanicFanatic1995 You have a point but see how you feel 10 years from now when your ear is developed for listening to guitar tones far beyond the average person
what is the song of the 2:34?
