    This custom-built double-neck (conventional six-string neck in the lower position combined with a twelve-string neck weighs just 10.50 lbs. Both necks are one-piece mahogany and have a nut width of 1 9/16 inches and a medium-to-thick profile. Four "patent-number" humbucker pickups. Each pickup with a black label ("Patent No. 2,737,842") on the underside and with outputs of 7.40k and 7.53k on the six-string guitar and outputs of 7.49k and 8.61k on the twelve-string guitar. One of just 4 guitars built in 1966. Housed in the original Gibson black rectangular hardshell case with yellow/orange plush lining (9.00). A great rarity

    Agreed. There's an Epiphone one in a store window in my town. I went in and got them to take it down so I could play "Stairway," on it. It was satisfying.

    @ClockworkFacility1 Yes, you could. Also, if you leave both necks open, you'll get some sympathetic string resonance through the body, which sounds very nice and chimey.

    A 12-string guitar is actually 6 pairs of two strings each. The lower 4 are tuned an octave apart, and the upper strings are tuned exactly the same. The result is a sound like no normal guitar.

    That's the end part to Stairway to Heaven...
    No offense, but if you're watching anything to do with guitar or music in general, you should be able to recognize that. One of the best songs ever written. EVER.
    Rock on

    there's a vid of a different dbl neck where i do just that. when you strum the one neck, you hear the strings on the other neck vibrate and resonate. it's pretty cool if it's tuned right.

  • @ubustang
    @ubustang 15 років тому

    yes. The neck is usually inordinately thick though, and there is tons of problem with tuning, action, and intonation; but for rhythm guitar nothing beats it.
