Thank you. Yes, our breeder was really lovely and we still keep in contact. All the Whippets had a family reunion earlier this year, its in one of my other videos.
I grew up with whippets our brindle whippet Bryn lived till he was 18 & our blue whippet Tanya was 16. My grandmother bred whippets for show (some are used for racing but this is a dying tradition now) I now have Flo she's 7. I would definitely recommend not feeding your dog so late, around 5 or 6 pm is ideal. It's also not good for their kidneys or overall health to just give them dry food. A mixture of wet & dry mixed together is ideal. I would never let my dog have anything I can't take off of her. You are the master & letting them win they battle is not good. My Whippet loves playing games, I put her in the hall & close the door then hide her ball in the room, she LOVES this game & try to play it often for her several times each time. I have never used a crate for my dogs unless they are destructive when left alone a dog would be much happier with the freedom to move around & ALWAYS have fresh water available. I hope this helps .
Thanks for the great advice, and thanks for watching! Jasper is almost 2 now and we've changed the way we do things a bit. We gave up on the crate after a few days and instead we built a pen in the living room with an open crate, food, water, toys and fake grass. This was ok for about a week until he jumped over the fence (I have this on video) and we decided it was too dangerous. Instead I then penned off all my expensive stuff such as the drum kit and computer etc. This worked great ever since. Sadly I got weak and let him sleep upstairs, He now sleeps under the covers at night with us! As for feeing I always aim for 6pm. He'll have dry food all day but a 6 he gets cooked chicken or fish. We've considered putting him on the raw diet but we don't have the freezer space. Also water, He would never drink water that came from a tap, he loves puddles though. I figured it might be because we're in a hard water area. I've recently been drinking filter water and it seems he prefers it too, so thats all that goes into his bowl now. I like the hiding the ball idea, Jasper seems to like it when the ball rolls under the TV cabinet. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the great advice, its always good get an insight from the experienced whippet owners as I have learnt that they are almost nothing like other dogs. They are very unique indeed.
@@skatepark02 Thanks for your reply, looks like Jasper is getting on great! Did you know in the Victorian times they were known as bed warmers as whippets love being under the covers & they used them to warm the bed up! My Flo sleeps with me in my bed I don't know how she breathes sometimes! I push back the quilt from her head whilst she's asleep to give her some air but she soon disappears again! Pigs ears makes alot of dogs react in this way Flo was the same so now she doesn't get given them. So happy your loving having a whippet x
@@skatepark02 Yeah, I know. Our countries are polar opposites: We are neurotic, you are 'liberal' as in free to harm yourselves. We had a leakage: for two months our kitchen was wrapped in plastic with an industrial fan drying the structures 24/7, before the insurance company and the technicians with their moisture detectors cleared it.
Our whippet was meant to be ''mine'' but he took to my son from day one! [son was aged 10] ...we had a dog already, and so I ''sold'' the whippet to my son for a week's pocket money....of course it was me responsible for walking and routine vet's bills [not big thankfully]...but they do choose people...they seem to be ''one person dogs'', or maybe it was just ours who formed a strong bond with son.
Lovely! I Have a blue whippet puppy named Winnie she was a cute white patch in the middle of her chest like the older whippet I only got her a couple of months ago... She is SO loving after a long walk she comes and sits on me and gives me hugs when I get headaches (that happens a lot) If u are looking to buy a puppy I recommend a whippet or grey hound
He is beautiful. I was wanting a Springer spaniel, but I saw a whippet on TV and I fell in love with the breed. Haha, that coat is so nice and grey. I probably won't get a dog anytime soon. Im just wondering whether they get along with cats.
They certainly do if they are introduced correctly. My first whippet was a blue called Tiggy in 1990 and we had two cats at the time and she grew up with them and it was lovely to see all three curled up together in front of the fire. Since then I've had another three ~ Tina, Diva and Isla ~ and cannot recommend the breed enough. They're loving, calm, stunningly beautiful, completely loopy at times, THE perfect hot water bottle in bed and perfectly happy to do a full day's hiking in the countryside or, if the weather is bad, equally happy to spend all day snoozing in their bed or, best of all, snuggled up next to you on the sofa! They're incredibly intelligent and trainable too so don't let anybody tell you they'll disappear off hunting for hours on end or go deaf when you call them back - if you train them properly from Day One with lots of lovely treats (smoky ham/cooked sausage/cooked chicken were always Tina's favourites) and lots of praise, cuddles and kisses. Fabulous dogs with very few health issues and for family history buffs like me....there's a very good website called The Whippet Archives which has virtually every registered and racing whippet ever born on it and gives their pedigree, photos, progeny etc....I traced Tina's family tree all the way back to the very first breed champion in the 1880's! It's very addictive! I like all dogs and springers are lovely BUT they're endless energy and bumbling about would drive me demented LOL It's whippets every time for our house!
Getting A whippet by next spring. How does he take to the drum playing my son has bands practicing in the attic 3rd floor all the time. He was worried their heavy metal would scare the puppy?
He is so great. Good planning. nice to see you take your time. I already planning getting a whippet for about 1,5 year. Now i got a big appartment and a new job with a lot of time for a dog. I search for a blue whippet, actually I am from germany and here I can't find one. There are only brown and checked ones but no one gets grey puppis. would you tell me from where you did get yours? I would love to know. Maybe I have to surch in an other country. Enjoy your time.
Beatrice Jasiewicz Thank you, a lot of planning went in to this. I love Germany btw, it’s my favourite country. Blue Whippets are generally very rare. My girlfriend had an exact idea of what dog she wanted so we just kept searching and waiting. We also wanted him to be a pedigree and KC registered so that made the search even harder. In the end we bought Jasper from a family Cornwall. We got extremely lucky as not only was he exactly what we were looking for but the breeder was also amazing at raising the puppies for those vital 8 weeks. I think you’re just going to have to take your time and keep looking. It’s worth the wait. Best of luck!

@@skatepark02 Very unique, they have built-in turbo boosts! Have you seen the UA-cam video of the world's strongest Whippet? If you haven't you should definitely check it out she has huge muscles!
Farmer Fpv haha! I’ve seen pictures of this whippet, she’s ridiculous! Its funny how you mention they have a turbo boost. I make a lot of car videos from time to time and I was trying to convince the guys to film a drag race between a whippet and something like a Lamborghini hurracan. It would have been epic! Though I think jasper would have just ran in the wrong direction.
omg it’s so beautiful there! i want to move out of the US and into england! it’d be really cool if you made a video about where you live and why you like/dislike living there! love the video! you won a sub haha
Hailey Moskowitz thank you, it’s weird how you say that because I’m the video it’s not the most fanciest of places the UK has to offer. I’d rather live in the US to be honest. That sound like a great idea though, I’d happily make a video like that. :)
I have 2 Italian greyhounds and they have so much energy ones grey and ones chocolate brown but there lovely great dogs to have need a lot of attention 🐶😊
floors are cold and drafty... try it. do you think your pet gets warm there? that is why they try to cover themselves! just recently my cat created her own sleeping nest under the table in the dining room! completely without my knowing! she brought down the table pad very carefully over the side draping it to the floor and pulled the table cloth over to her sleeping chair, to shield from drafts. this way see gets heat from the register and is protected along the cold exterior wall by the pad! smart girl! not one single poke or pinhole in anything! i had originally placed a spare blanket on the chair in case she should ever want to sleep there - and so she does - appropriately for the oncoming winter! my 2 cats generally sleep on the loveseat, easy chair or sofa. but she likes under the table for daytime and can keep an eye on things from below without being observered! she is a tuxedo! ; )
Did they colour coordinate the living room or the dog!!! A lovely animal I've never seen a blue whippet before. What colour are their eyes eventually? I am sorely tempted.
Jenbo it was a happy accident, but we do love grey. Commonly they’re born with blue eyes but in most cases they turn a hazel brown colour. We thought it was a shame at first but we now prefer the brown
Thanks for watching! We got jasper from a family that had a litter of puppies. It was their first and last litter so essentially we adopted him. All I can recommend is keep looking at local dog shelters and see if you can find any. Good luck!

Its hilariously scary at times. There really is something unique about them
@@skatepark02 Very unique, they have built-in turbo boosts! Have you seen the UA-cam video of the world's strongest Whippet? If you haven't you should definitely check it out she has huge muscles!
@@skatepark02 here's a video of Wendy the Whippet. ua-cam.com/video/5ia5zdfoou0/v-deo.html
Whippet puppies are so cute
omg it’s so beautiful there! i want to move out of the US and into england! it’d be really cool if you made a video about where you live and why you like/dislike living there! love the video! you won a sub haha
Hailey Moskowitz thank you, it’s weird how you say that because I’m the video it’s not the most fanciest of places the UK has to offer. I’d rather live in the US to be honest. That sound like a great idea though, I’d happily make a video like that. :)
Hailey Moskowitz thanks for the sub btw!
Lee Thomas the smaller/less fancy the town, the cuter haha
The farmland there is so beautiful. I live near many farms and they’re not nearly as vibrant!
I have a whippet too he’s named miles he’s really cute :)
I have 2 Italian greyhounds and they have so much energy ones grey and ones chocolate brown but there lovely great dogs to have need a lot of attention 🐶😊
My Whipador is the sweetest thing
Gorgeous pup ❤❤🐾🐾
floors are cold and drafty... try it. do you think your pet gets warm there? that is why they try to cover themselves! just recently my cat created her own sleeping nest under the table in the dining room! completely without my knowing! she brought down the table pad very carefully over the side draping it to the floor and pulled the table cloth over to her sleeping chair, to shield from drafts. this way see gets heat from the register and is protected along the cold exterior wall by the pad! smart girl! not one single poke or pinhole in anything! i had originally placed a spare blanket on the chair in case she should ever want to sleep there - and so she does - appropriately for the oncoming winter! my 2 cats generally sleep on the loveseat, easy chair or sofa. but she likes under the table for daytime and can keep an eye on things from below without being observered! she is a tuxedo! ; )
How do these compare to staffies? Mainly Amstaffs.
13:59 we don't have cows like that here in America. What type of is it
Yeah they’re quite unique 😂
That thumbnail is adorable!
Oh Hi baby version of dog
Soooooo cute
I love Whippets
This video was filmed like a pro, love it!
Thanks, that means a lot! a while after this I actually started my own business as a videographer so technically I am a pro now.
Lee Thomas awesome!
This video was made on my b day
Did they colour coordinate the living room or the dog!!!
I sereusly want a whippet puppy❗️❗️ but my Mum dosent😭😫😖 The rest of the family want a puppy to!! Anne advice for me??🙏🏻🙏🏻🐶🐶
Just keep going on and on about getting one. My husband also didn't want one, but now cannot imagine life without ours. Good luck!
I didn’t want this puppy either to be honest but my girlfriend talked me into it. Now we are inseparable

My 2 fave things in 1 video: whippets and twenty one pilots
I saved a whippet today :)
Awww ❤
Love him ❤
I can’t believe it is raining 😂😂😂😂 UK the Land of Sunshine …. Not !!!! 🤣🤣
Loved the video. Where did you get Jasper ? or can anyone recommend a breeder. I’m looking for a puppy
Thanks for watching! We got jasper from a family that had a litter of puppies. It was their first and last litter so essentially we adopted him. All I can recommend is keep looking at local dog shelters and see if you can find any. Good luck!
