  • As a society, there is a huge benefit to hiring midcareer and older workers. Steven Lee is the CEO of SkillUp Coalition.
He calls out employers, urging them to hire these workers because it is good for the worker and good for the company. "One, they have a lot of skills and experience. Two, they are going to bring an attitude of hard work, team work, and appreciation," Lee says. And three, older adults often work because they need the money.
WorkingNation editor-in-chief Ramona Schindelheim interviewed Lee and 9 other leading voices on the subject of age today, particularly when it comes to older and midcareer adults in the workforce, as part of the Age in America WorkingNation collaboration with Scripps News which begins on-air on June 17.

For this online and written interview series, Ramona and her guests talked about the impact of ageism on hiring and promotions, the benefits to employers of hiring midcareer and older workers, and how a multigenerational workplace can end up helping workers young and old. They also discussed why some adults over the age of 65 need to work or want to work and what it means for our economy and society if they are left out of the workforce.

I was a VP in large pharma company and left at 60 yrs old. Also an RN who ran multiple Emergency depts.
    OVERQUALIFIED for lesser sales roles.
No one is interested in older workers. Retirement is boring and I really miss intense roles where you are required to make big calls.
Never really thought this would happen but it is a fact
