Darkseid is the one adversary that Superman tried to keep alive because he was afraid to unleash his powers in the fear that it would result in the destruction of Apokolyps. Superman had been taught to respect and protect all life, either on earth or other planets. But Darkseid had always humiliated Superman because he knew that the weakness that Superman has is for humans. It is a weakness that Darkseid exploited numerous times. But this is the first time I ever saw Superman go full Kryptonian and become just as ruthless in battle as Darkseid.
on Krypton the death penalty is prohibited, why do you think Kryptonians are ruthless?

I like the fact that this shows that Superman changes as in when he lets his anger control him he isn’t able to stop himself from properly helping people not even darkseid is happy to see that change but he knows how to manipulate it.
Though I enjoyed the Injustice comics. I can understand many peoples gripes on certain power scaling issues/writing. Given Superman did this and in year 3 he nearly was killed by Zeus who was stopped by Highfather... Which outside of different universes both Darkseid and Highfather always seen as equal/opposite of morality and power.
So be Zeus I can see kicking Superman butt. The issue of then him being equal to Highfather or comparable enough to be dissuaded by his words. Just came off as not well thought out. Well outside of course how quickly Hercules was killed after Supes went blood listed and yet prior was kicking both sides asses...
Mind Year 3 had many issues if looking back to say this or after. Year 2 it was believable when Superman gained the Yellow Lantern ring his insane power feat right after. Mind there is problems with year 2 to nitpick, but I highly enjoyed that one out of most. Well outside how dirty Kyle and somewhat later John was taken care of...

I've always hated this for two reasons. First it implies that the entire Kryptonian race are stronger than actual gods because they can absorb photons... which is idiotic. Second nobody remembers that Darkseid removed himself from the Crisis. So he's the same strength and power as he was when he was clashing with silver age Superman. He should be crushing Superman every time they fight one on one. When Superman can defeat him solo what's the point of even having a JL? It's so boring.
When Superman becomes the villain, he is *the* Final Boss of Final Bosses. Darkseid didn't understand this fundamental truth. This fight was DC's way of making that clear to everyone.

True Form Darkseid was destroy during Crisis, he only recently came back during the current run when all the different versions of himself merged back together. At this point in the comics this is true form Darkseid, or at least one of the many iterations in the then DC Multiverse.
@@Zenphoshen Even so, during whatever point of DC's story this video takes place we pretty much all knew Darkseid was a character that earned his staying power, so trying to hurt or kill him doesn't mean much.
@@GuardianGrarl While I do enjoy Darksied as a villain. He is not immune to deaths grasp. His current iteration is as his true self resides in the 4th dimension. This one if the fight continued would have likely died as a result. This is why we never see Darksied again in the Injustice comic. He knows he is no match for this Unleashed Superman. I say that however if he did show up during say year 4 or beyond he would have absolutely jobbered Superman and either killed him or enslaved him.

Thats one way of seeing it, In DC's universe sure Superman is the second coming. But to Marvel he isn't since Hyperion and Gladiator have been classed below lots of villains and heroes. The heroes that were classed above them are: Silver Surfer, Thor, Sentry, Black Bolt, Blue Marvel and X-Man(Does Franklin Richards count as hero or no?).
Darksied is little compared to Trigon.
If I can gripe about something that has bothered my in comics for a while, I'd like to say I really dislike the whole, "2 superman level characters go all out punching each other but neither one shows visible damage" trope. Its really boring, takes away from the gritiness of a good fight, and makes it hard to judge who is superior to who. Its like both characters have durability that is like 10x stronger than their attacks and frankly i find it dumb as hell. I also dislike the constant theme of superman being able to fight Darkseid 1 on 1 just because 'he usually holds back' but thats another matter.
You see this, this right here. This is fine. If superman wants to crush him here I will not judge him. Superman was evil in this series. But in that moment not so much. I am not interested in the whole, 'heros dont kill' thing people have been going hard with the last decade. Darkseid is evil incarnation. How good can you be if you let him live?
