Looking forward to this series, i am still considering replacing my Kronos with the Nord stage 3. Having more info on the management program is essential for my decision. Glad you are doing this tutorial.
@jurgenseiler6834 Hello Jürgen! So, you need a full computer (Mac or Windows) in order to run the Nord Sound Manager software. However, it doesn't require a very powerful computer - even a slightly older Mac/PC should work. Which Nord do you have?
Hello, New to Nord 6D electro 61, Will do this step in video. Question: How do I remove some of the factory sets before installing a collections of Pads I have for Worship music? I would like to Keep some piano sounds possibly. But do not really know what I will be removing or keeping and how to tell. Do you have a tutorial on this part?
Hi @Mary Ann Conklin thanks for your question, and congrats on your Nord Electro 6! Well, first, I'll say that no matter what you do with the Nord Sound Manager, you can always revert back to factory settings. What most people do when they have purchased Worship sounds is to first "make room on their board" by way of samples and also pianos potentially. Look at this video where I talk about installing 3rd party sound packs for the Nord Stage 3. The same concept applies to your Electro, and it may help get you started with all this: ua-cam.com/video/GdcerH9ycyQ/v-deo.html
@@MyKeysToMusic I read your reply a few times! lol I saw the video you recommended and I am still a bit stuck. Does your course show more? I want to get my worship collection on my Nord and possibly need to: "You might have to erase some pianos and some samples!" I don't have a clue but I want to learn how to do this. Also, once I get the worship collection on my Nord, will it provide a " sustained " sound that you hear in worship because I do not have that sound with the sustain pedal. I want to learn, but this is a bit stretching.
@@MyKeysToMusic The Worship Collection recommends ONE WAY that is easiest for installing the Nord electro archive file, making an archive file for my Nord Before erasing all patches except what is in the pack and erasing samples? Is there a video on this?
@@maryannconklin7231 The course shows a bit more but not exactly how to work with the specific package you bought. You may be able to get help from the person who made the pack. If not, you can sign up for the course and I can help you through this install no problem.
Yes! @merry384harpwood the same rules apply for all the latest Nord keyboards. The Nord Sound Manager is an essential companion to your Nord keyboard and you'll learn a lot on this series here on UA-cam. On my website however, I have purpose-built lessons specific to the Nord Eletro 6 which will get you a Lot further, a lot faster and I cover every aspect of the board in great detail all from a musicians perspective.
Connecting your keyboard to your computer is certainly important. Speaking of computers, I would love to see a video in which you explain the Extern Section of the Stage 3 in detail. For example, connecting the Stage 3 to your computer via USB and then routing the output of a VST (Keyscape, Kontakt (Player), etc) to the Monitor In port of the Stage 3. I don’t have a Stage 3 to tell you exactly whether that’s possible but from the manual I assume it should be possible-and I hope there is even a lot more great things in the Extern section to discover. I think the Extern sections of such keyboards are, alas, often overlooked to some extent as they do not directly produce sounds. Therefore, I would love to learn what’s possible there in terms of controlling software, as I know there are some great software instruments available. Ps: Thanks again for all of your videos. I’m always happy when a new one shows up in my feed :)
Hi Christian. I think a video on the Extern sections is a great idea. Even if it started with the basics. I'll add it to the possibilities list. Part 2 of this video will be released later today by the way... Thanks for your comments and for watching!
I'm looking forward to it too. There is a concept brewing on how best to explain the concepts of samples, versus programs, versus bundles that are rolling around in my head right now and how that plays a part in the different memory partitions of the keyboard, etc. It will be interesting to do this one for sure.
Hi gang! Part 1 sets the stage with a brief overview and describes installation via Mac and Windows. Part 2+ (coming soon) will include a full tutorial/training series on what you need to know to master the Sound Manager application from Nord for 2018 and beyond. Enjoy!
Hello fellow Nord Fans! Part 2 and Part 3 are complete making this series what I hope to be the most comprehensive Nord Sound Manager "master" tutorials available. If you own a late model Nord, get to know your sound manager. Part 2: ua-cam.com/video/4Z3YT7T9XD0/v-deo.html Part 3: ua-cam.com/video/H36QVeL2Byk/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!
Bought a new MacBook Air M1 and the sound manager won't load. Mac says it can't verify that it is not a malicious file. It states to contact the developer of the software to correct this. Thoughts?
@SDG51Right-click on the application/installer. It should then present you with an option to open it. This is how the modern Mac OS versions handle files/apps from third parties in an unsigned situation.
Hello @Traición You first need to locate the original cable that can with your Nord keyboard. If you don't have that, you'll need to get a USB A to USB B cable. The cable has one end that is square (USB B) and the other end rectangular (USB A). The square end goes into the back of the Nord into the "USB" port. The other end connects to your computer. The computer and keyboard need to be on. Then load the Nord Sound Manager. It should bring up all programs/samples/pianos that are located on your Nord keyboard. You can watch my other Nord Sound manager videos here (part 2 and 3) as well once you get things connected. Good luck!

I have both the NS3 + Korg Kronos 61 Key. I could not be happier. I would not get rid of the Kronos :)
Wow, that's a big decision to replace the Kronos (or not). I plan to start work on part 2 (and beyond) this week - stay tuned...
