It's the most accurate quote I can think of for WarThunder. I once flat-on hit a t34 from 100m in the side of the turret with a sturer emil 248 mm pen round... flat on the middle of the turret's side. It didn't penetrate. It scored a hit, so not a ghost shell... it just... magically did nothing. The t34 just turned its turret and wasted me. That's when I uninstalled. This video is phly's reaction to a shit vehicle, but it's my reaction to all of the shitty situations this game creates haha.
And it's so very true. I wish somebody had said to me in the beginning,(i am now lvl 74 and am taking it a bit more seerious,i always just played just to play and spent about 5 minutes in every battle before being killed)do NOT take this game serious because you will loose your sanity very fast,in about a half a month or so. 😂
It truly is an "almost fun" game, the seesaw teeters on but never quite gets there because every dopamine hit is immediately followed by frustration after frustration.
Just for information about the 140mm ACRA missile launcher: 1-) the ATGM cost about 1 000 000 francs (french currency; which represent 10 000 000 new francs - or 1 500 000€ ~ more or less) - due to the ammo cost, the project was shut down few years later (only the AMX-10 & AMX-30 got an ACRA variant) 2-) there is a 2nd ammunition for the use of the 140mm, it's an unguided HE rocket; which isn't a 140mm (like the ATGM) but a smaller caliber.
All that money building and manufacturing an advanced ATGM like that, only to load it in a non-turreted, central-mantlet based chassis What were the French thinking? Just fire it out of a tube lmao
@@Mister_Clean from what i heard, the 152mm of the M551 Sheridan and some other thoughts were the inspiration. As "armor" lost most of its worth with the new 1950's shell (Sabot & HEAT rounds), it was thought that Missiles would replace any classic anti-tank weapon (more accuracy, possibility to guide beyond visual range). The ACRA is from the 1970's - at that era, Western Europe was hiding / protecting itself from a Soviet Invasion with as " 100 missiles for 1 soviet tank " or something similar. Plus if you think about it : a guiding system for the ammo would still be more efficient than a cumbersome stabilizer for a turret = to give idea on the Tank Fighting Policy: in the 1960's, it was more or less estimated that T-55's serie would be efficient around 1,3km, while the 105mm L/7 would give a range of 1,5km - meanwhile the french 105mm F1 was given up to 2,1km with its special OCC F1. An anti-tank missile would go easily above those range (as long as the guidance would allow it). Longer range than the enemy = safer & more disrupting for the enemy = politicaly an auto-win.
@tirushone6446 Doesn't that one also fire conventional ammunition as well as ATGMs? (I might be wrong)... And the Sheridan has a fast turret with great traverse. There's nothing wrong with ATGMs in War Thunder, so long as you have the mobility and actual tank ammunition. But you'll often find yourself saying "if I had just used HEAT/APDS/APHE, I would have gotten that kill". That's just how it is. The abomination featured in this video is a different story. Limited to only barrel fired ATGMs and a cannon that's stuck on the upper front plate? Yeah, nope
@@Mister_Clean yeah the sherridon had gun heat as well. I was just wondering if I was missing something but seems its all fine. just seems like a fun tank, fast turret and tracks, a stabaliser, and a 150 mm cannon for blasting your enemies back to the lobby
Phly, after watching your videos, I did what I said I'd never do, and actually focus on playing tanks. You made it look so fun and easy, and while I'm (sometimes) having fun, I'm finding out now that its not so easy (especially since I'm making myself play RB instead of AB now). I'm most impressed by how you don't even have to use the rangefinder, you just know right about what distance to fire at. I'm proud to say that after 4 hours of playing with 1 kill to show for it, I got off and watched an episode of The Golden Girls. After that though, I got back on and to my surprise, actually started getting a kill or 2 in my matches, even well enough to do some CAS in a Mustang. As a pilot with around 15 days in game flight time between AB and RB, I'm finding tank gameplay pretty hard to get used to. I can't tell you how many times I've scoped in on accident because I'm used to that being my throttle.
I laughed so hard when you extolled the virtues of how much ammo it carries at the beginning of the video... And so conveniently placed close to the exterior! You could call it... Extremely ablative armor. Lol
OMG this video made my day. I feel a little bad that I found hilarity in the suffering of another, but I had tears in my eyes from laughter. Then again, I play War Thunder, so we are all suffering together.
war thunder is about blood pressure right now . nice quote. either bad team mate who rush like a bull on one side and get obliterated by 1 death, or you got rushed and obliterated without do anything
Obviously an awkward vehicle, but 7.3 France is loaded with good stuff, so you can just take it out when the map fits it. That reload and missile speed are very good.
They could've added the AMX-10P, a combat proven IFV which is the same chassis with just a 20mm on top and it would've been better. There's apparently some variants of the 10P with a Milan launcher attached and it still would've been better. But no they had to go for the trash, useless prototype that never saw action instead because of course they did.
*Begin Transmission* Day 99. This is one of those abstract vehicles that I never heard of. The AMX-10M. Kinda like a French version of the German Kanonenjagdpanzer, no? That sorta wedge shape on the front is one of the more unusual designs. . . . Reminds me of the T26E4 Super Pershing. *End Transmission*
His emotions in this video captures 80% of every War Thunder player ever. Lol. It's like I'm having fun with every nation till about 5.5/6.0 then it just becomes the worst experience ever. Except Israel your forced to suffer from the get go, sure the cannons shred enemies but all's they have to do is sneeze in your general direction and dead.
I had good success using it as an ambush vehicle. Pop around a corner when someone is distracted and neutral steer is pretty fast. atgm is fast so you can fire splash return to cover quickly. Its not IDEAL but it works lol
i just got this tank (im a dirty french main) and it slaps so hard, i already loved the ACRA at 8.3 so this was a nice gem, great sniper too, the 20mm is great for getting rid of CAS (I've shot down like 6 planes already in 2 matches), you have to really get your positioning good tho, and you cant position this like a normal tank destroyer because its guided
Phly jokes about being anti-air, but it's surprisingly good at just that. The ATGMs are quite nice for chopper deletion, too. What it cannot do is take any kind of return fire, as a hit will either kill a crew member, crippling half your guns- or just blow your breadbox into orbit. Find narrow lanes- even ones that go out to long distances - and wait for some poor shmuck to cross your ATGM path. Distance is not protection for your breadbox, either- only hard cover, since rangefinders are common at this BR anyway and you are a one shot yeet-and-delete even against small guns. Sorry, Phly. This one was mostly a "how to make toasted baugettes" video.
“The benefit of having a-lot of ammo is, if you get shot you don’t have to play it anymore” lmao what a line 😂
"War thunder is how well you can manage your blood pressure" im gonna use that quote from now on.

Phly becomes mentally insane after being forced to watch the streets. Again.
lmfao
When Phly finally got over the hill just to get killed a few seconds after, I died 😂
I also low key felt him though too 😢
This is definitely a vehicle in Warthunder
A vehicule indeed.
Rumor is you can watch it on the streets
some even say it's one of the all time vehicles in WT
It's certainly one of the vehicles in all of the game.
I don’t think I’ve laughed this hard at a Phly video in a long time. Thanks for that!
That's my experience with WT almost every day, it's therapeutic to see experienced player can have that kind of games too

It looks like a US M113 APC that was converted to a tank destroyer. The tracks, roadwheels, sprockets, and trackpads look the same.

"I might actually use a little bit less street technology here" 🤣
I love watching you ride the struggle bus, Phly. It really warms my heart to know that even you can have problems like the rest of us.

I had a guy in a game tell me it was a OP. And I thought that one of the most funny things I heard in a while.
